Chapter 5
Reported by His Wife

Choi Eun Ho lounged back in his chair, casually throwing out a question or two, while Kim Seok Woo mumbled vague responses, unwilling to elaborate. Seeing this, Choi Eun Ho found it boring and closed his eyes, pretending to nap.

About ten minutes later, the sound of a siren in the distance gradually became clear, finally stopping downstairs.

Their office building was over thirty stories high. This psychological counseling agency was located only on the fourth floor, in a small space with just a waiting room and an office.

The meager conditions made Choi Eun Ho wonder how he managed to convince people to pay for consultations here.

The outward appearance was equally perfunctory.

Soon, a rough opening of the door echoed. Choi Eun Ho slowly lowered his legs and looked at the newcomer.

A young man, barely thirty years old, stood before him, clad in a silver-grey suit, a tie neatly tied, his shoes polished, his hair parted three-seven, meticulously combed.

He wore a prosecutor's badge on his chest. He was passable looking, a typical example of a Peninsula elite.

Choi Eun Ho searched his memory for information about this man.

His name was Kim Young Soon, a prosecutor from the Criminal Division Three. He was a classmate of Choi Eun Ho's at the Judicial Research Institute.

He was a man of principle, upholding the ideals of punishing the wicked and rewarding the good, fearless of authority, and loyal to upholding the law of the nation.

However, he wasn't popular within the department, always assigned the tedious and tiring tasks.

Choi Eun Ho couldn't help but chuckle. Such a rigid way of thinking was indeed rare in the Korean legal world. No wonder he was ostracized.

………

Choi Eun Ho stood up, a smile appearing on his face, and bowed deeply.

Then, he looked up and said in a calm voice, “Senior, this case is in your hands. I need to go back and report on the work.”

He then nodded to the several police officers behind Kim Young Soon, whispering, "You guys have worked hard too."

"Not at all!"

"This is our duty!"

"You're too kind, Prosecutor!"

The officers immediately bowed in response.

The Peninsula had a deeply ingrained sense of hierarchy, which made Choi Eun Ho think back to his days in Mexico, where people wouldn't bow and scrape like this, and would fight at the slightest disagreement.

On the Peninsula, as a prosecutor, he truly enjoyed the privilege of being superior.

"Prosecutor Choi!" Kim Young Soon suddenly called out to him.

"Yes? What is it, Senior?"

Choi Eun Ho turned around and asked curiously.

"So Sook asked me to investigate you, but I put it on hold for now." Kim Young Soon turned around, his eyes fixed on Choi Eun Ho, and asked sternly, "You once swore to cleanse the corruption within our judicial system with a heart full of justice. Why have you become like this?!"

His eyes were filled with pain and turmoil, "I hope you can give me an explanation, otherwise, I'll expose everything you've done!"

Choi Eun Ho was stunned. He didn't answer but looked at the three police officers standing between them. Feeling his gaze, they immediately lowered their heads, silently cursing in their hearts.

Damn it! Why do you prosecutors need to drag us small cops into your power struggles!

Kim Seok Woo, lying on the floor, suddenly burst into a tirade.

"Aish! You motherf**ker, you scammed me! You're a prosecutor! You motherf**ker scammed me!"

………

Choi Eun Ho ignored him and looked at Kim Young Soon with confusion.

This man's behavior was so strange, as if he was acting in a play. The pain in his eyes and the struggle in his heart would make him a perfect male lead in a Korean drama.

………

Just because you couldn't win over the Judicial Research Institute goddess who caught your eye back in school, you hold a grudge against him?

He's not as handsome, not as smart as you, and even his equipment isn't as good as yours. Don't you have any self-awareness at all?

Despite these thoughts, Choi Eun Ho still grasped the key information in the conversation.

Chang So Sook had already started investigating him, and it was common for prosecutors to investigate each other.

In his year at the prosecutor's office, the original owner had kept a low profile. He hadn't handled many cases and was unremarkable in the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office. Naturally, no one would have deliberately investigated him.

But his wife, barely a day married, was going to investigate him, simply because she had overheard a conversation.

Was her sense of justice really that strong?

Choi Eun Ho felt a headache coming on.

Two mountains were already weighing heavily on him, and now a little demon suddenly appeared.

It seemed he had to deal with this problem first.

He was never one for mercy.

Choi Eun Ho smiled, his voice firm as he replied, "Understood. I will report it to the district prosecutors' office."

Kim Young Soon was satisfied with his cooperation and nodded slightly. However, his brows immediately furrowed as he issued a warning: "Be careful to maintain the image of a prosecutor."

Image? Choi Eun Ho couldn't help but look down at himself.

Damn it!

This damn Kim Seok Woo!

He kicked me again!
