Leaving the Headmaster’s office, Veon didn’t feel any fear or terror because all his actions had been noticed by Dumbledore.
In his past life, many people had speculated that Dumbledore was a wicked conspirator, but most of these conclusions were unfounded.
If Dumbledore were truly the kind of ruthless person who would kill anyone who didn’t follow his will,
Tom wouldn’t have had a future as the Dark Lord. He would have been eliminated by old Dumbledore back in Hogwarts.
Perhaps Dumbledore had changed after the events involving Voldemort, but he always adhered to his principle of guidance.
He believed that if he gave his students more love and education, they would not repeat the same mistakes.
Even if Malfoy had come with the intention of killing him, Dumbledore would try to change him, awaken the good in his heart.
Veon was nowhere near that evil.
He went to the Restricted Section to read books, mostly those about white magic, alchemy, or potions.
There was certainly some dangerous information inside, but compared to true dark magic, it was nothing.
Why was old Dumbledore so cruel, even putting a potion like the Polyjuice Potion in the Restricted Section?
You can’t blame Veon for that.
It’s all Benze… no, Voldemort’s fault!
…
Back in the dormitory, Veon planned to sort and store the materials he bought from Diagon Alley, putting them in a small bag that had been enchanted with the Undetectable Extension Charm.
It wasn’t that he was worried about his two roommates stealing, he was afraid that the two guys would think there was something to eat inside and accidentally ingest it, that would be a huge problem.
As soon as he returned to the changing room, he saw Cedric still holding the broomstick and examining it.
Cedric saw him and reluctantly returned the Firebolt to Veon.
“It’s really the Firebolt, the workmanship, the quality, it’s amazing, I just wonder what it’s like to fly on it.”
“You didn’t try it?” Veon took the broomstick and looked at him in confusion.
Cedric shook his head, “Didn’t I say, we just came to look.”
“This is your new broomstick, I don’t dare try it, if I break it, I won’t even be able to sell myself to pay for it.”
Veon patted him on the shoulder with a smile, “You’re underestimating yourself, just with your status as the only son of the Diggory family, you’re worth this much.”
A burst of laughter erupted from the room, many Hufflepuffs’ parents worked in the Ministry of Magic, so they knew how much Amos valued this son.
Cedric blushed and angrily punched Veon’s arm.
“Go, go, go, stop teasing your senior.”
“Alright.” Veon threw the broomstick back to Diggory under Cedric’s confused gaze.
“You can play with it for two days, get familiar with it, I’ll lend it to you for the Quidditch match.”
Before Cedric could say anything, Quidditch captain Walter was the first to jump up.
“Really! Veon?”
If they had a Firebolt for Cedric, their Seeker, their chance of winning the House Cup would be greatly increased!
“What’s the point of lying to you,” Veon said casually, “Harry has joined the Gryffindor Quidditch team, and Professor McGonagall has given him a Firebolt.”
“What?!”
Walter was shocked, then he thought of something and suddenly realized.
“I said, why was old Wood so happy these past two days like he found ten Galleons, and he even had a secret training session.”
“He’s so sly!”
Cedric held the broomstick tightly, tears welling up in his eyes.
“No more words, Godfather!”
Another burst of laughter, Veon was also amused.
He enjoyed this harmonious atmosphere, compared to other houses, Hufflepuff gave people more of a feeling of home, he felt very relaxed here.
However, the flying broomstick he was going to lend Cedric was not this custom-made one.
Veon planned to buy another one and donate it directly to Hufflepuff.
He wouldn’t be as foolish as Malfoy and donate six at once, but he was happy to give one to the house.
It’s worth a thousand gold for a happy heart, he will have a lot of opportunities to deduct points from Hufflepuff later.
Although everyone didn’t care, Veon couldn’t do nothing, just as an advance compensation.
Having been granted permission, Cedric didn’t even eat, he hugged the broom and rushed out of the dormitory, eager to test fly it in the Quidditch pitch.
Several members of the team and some curious wizards followed.
Veon went to the Great Hall, had something to eat, and then went to find Hermione.
As soon as he entered, he attracted many glances.
Now all the teachers and students know that Veon has a phoenix as a pet and bought a Firebolt by exploiting a loophole in the school rules.
Either one of these would make anyone envious.
At the High Table, Snape cut a piece of steak and put it in his mouth, chewing hard, as if he were biting Veon.
This kid, he’d rather be deducted points than make a deal with him.
He’s so annoying.
Second only to Potter!
“Veon...”
Hearing a soft voice behind him, Veon put down his knife and fork and turned around.
“What’s wrong, Cho?”
Because many people had gone to the Quidditch pitch to watch the broomstick, there were a lot of empty seats at the Hufflepuff table, Cho simply sat next to Veon, her watery eyes full of curiosity.
“I heard... you have a phoenix and you bought a Firebolt?”
She came late this morning and only heard it from others, she didn’t see it in person.
“Yes.”
“Really?” Cho’s eyes widened slightly, “I thought it was just a rumor.”
“The phoenix is picked up, the broomstick was bought after flying class,” Veon said with a smile:
“I’ll give you a piece of confidential information, I lent the broomstick to Cedric.”
“Ah?!” Cho was first shocked, then her mouth puffed up, like a little pufferfish.
“You’re bullying him.”
Because she joined the Quidditch team, Cho’s family sent her a Comet 260 as a reward, also a good broomstick.
But compared to the Firebolt, it’s a couple of levels lower.
“How can you call it bullying, I’m just helping my own house,” Veon defended himself.
“Humph.” Cho snorted angrily, “If you join the Quidditch team next year, I’ll switch to being a Beater and knock you off your broomstick.”
“You just wait and see.” Veon shrugged.
He wasn’t really interested in Quidditch, he just bought the broomstick to enjoy the feeling of flying.
Cho’s wish is likely to be dashed.
“Where’s your bird, can I see it?” Cho blinked, she had never seen a real phoenix in her life.
“I don’t know where it is, it’s probably running around, I’ll call it over later, Hermione wants to see it too.”
“Why don’t you two go together?”
“Good idea.”
