The things scattered throughout this cave were in complete disarray. There were strange earthen dolls, broken amulets, and some very old-looking parchment scrolls. If someone unfamiliar with these things came here, they would probably think they had wandered into a flea market, where someone was selling worthless trinkets.
But Roy, who possessed knowledge of magic, knew that these strange little trinkets might not hold much magic, but they were all objects with important symbolic significance in the occult.
“From the look of these objects, the original owner of this cave wasn’t a follower of the Christian faith, but of Judaism. Moreover, they must have been a follower of some secret Jewish sect.”
Roy didn’t touch these items carelessly. This secret chamber beneath the sand was like a magician’s workshop, an extremely dangerous place. Any seemingly insignificant trinket inside could be a deadly trap capable of turning a person’s life into misery.
“Aiwas, is there any danger here?”
Roy didn’t act rashly and instead asked Aiwas.
As a 'Holy Guardian Angel' who taught others knowledge, few were stronger than Aiwas in the field of the occult.
“The magical symbols here have disappeared.”
Although this wasn’t the world of magic prohibition, nor was it Roy’s real world, due to some inexplicable influence, much of the occult knowledge in many worlds was interconnected. Take the famous Kabbalah Tree of Life theory, for example. It was universally applicable in many worlds.
Aiwas gave Roy the answer with a single glance, and then the angel curiously surveyed the world once more.
For a being like Aiwas, what she cared about was never power, but rather the unknown information and rules that she obtained after arriving in a new world. That was what Aiwas craved most.
“That’s true, if this magician’s workshop had any defensive capabilities, I would have been attacked when I ran inside.”
With Aiwas’ assurance, Roy began to search the surrounding magical symbolic props with peace of mind.
“From the look of this parchment, is this the original version of ‘The Book of Enoch’?”
Roy picked up a tattered piece of parchment and glanced at the contents.
“Hm, this is… ”
There was a piece of linen next to the parchment, stained with a red mark, like dried blood. “….Jesus’ shroud? This is the Holy Shroud!”
Having discovered these incredibly precious items in both Judaism and Christianity, Roy quickly began to flip through the books nearby.
Soon, Roy confirmed the world he was in.
“This is the world of the Shi Shenzhe!”
“….This workshop’s owner was a magician who believed in Judaism. No, in this world, they should be called a 'magician'. This guy used many precious magical props and divine instruments to perform a large-scale magical ritual to summon a Bu Cong Zhi Shen!”
“From the look of these props, this magician was quite daring. He actually wanted to summon two Bu Cong Zhi Shen at once. One of them should be Metatron, and the other he wanted to summon should be the Son of God, Jesus Christ!”
Roy quickly figured out the ins and outs based on his knowledge of the occult and Aiwas’ guidance.
The magical props and divine instruments in this cave were all incredibly valuable, impossible to collect in less than a hundred years. Adding to that, the ritual to summon the Bu Cong Zhi Shen was too grand. It would also take decades of preparation. What was revealed in this cave represented the fruits of centuries of effort by multiple generations of a Jewish occult sect.
As for why this Jewish magician wanted to summon Metatron and the Son of God, Roy could understand. It was a fundamental conflict between the two faiths. Although they both believed in God, Judaism did not acknowledge Christ’s status or that he was the savior, the Messiah. They only believed he was a righteous saint.
Christianity, in turn, did not acknowledge the existence of Metatron. Therefore, this magician probably wanted to summon Judaism’s highest angel to kill Christianity’s Son of God in order to desecrate the Christian faith.
“They succeeded, but they also failed. They did summon the Bu Cong Zhi Shen, but the magic that these magicians summoned was not Jesus Christ, but the Archangel Michael. In Christian mythology, Michael is the strongest warrior before God’s throne!”
“….There are some passages in the Bible that don’t sound like descriptions of angels, but more like descriptions of the Son of God. This is a blasphemous act in Christianity. However, the Bible actually records it that way. Therefore, some scholars believe that the Son of God and Michael are one and the same, so the Bible uses descriptions of the Son of God to describe Michael!”
Roy shook his head in amusement. He imagined that those Jewish magicians must have looked like they were constipated when they saw the Bu Cong Zhi Shen they summoned was Michael.
“That mysterious space really fulfilled my wish, sending me to a world where I could rapidly grow stronger… But Shi Shenzhe, this world does indeed have the fastest method for growth, but the difficulty of that method…”
Roy couldn’t help but grimace. Slaying a god and then obtaining that god’s power was truly a way to ascend to the heavens. But the prerequisite for all of this was to slay a god!
It was an impossible miracle for mortals to slay a Bu Cong Zhi Shen. Strength and wisdom would be of little use in killing the Bu Cong Zhi Shen, because no matter how much strength and wisdom mortals could master, they were still insignificant and humble before gods. Therefore, it was said that the Shi Shenzhe was a synonym for miracle.
In Roy’s opinion, the most important factor in killing a god was actually——luck!!
In this world, if you had that luck, then you could naturally become a Shi Shenzhe. But if you didn’t have that luck, no matter how powerful your magic and knightly powers, you couldn’t accomplish this great feat.
Whether it was fate or luck, this kind of thing couldn’t be measured or changed. At least, Roy couldn’t do it now.
“You can see that these Jewish magicians also had ambitions. They also wanted to slay a god and become Shi Shenzhe. But from the results, these guys failed. They probably got killed in one encounter by those two angels.”
Roy picked up a piece of something that looked like a metal sheet from among these props. This small metal sheet was stained with the same color as the Holy Shroud. It had a powerful aura of the mystical and magical, so Roy suspected this metal sheet must be one of the fragments of the legendary ‘Spear of Longinus’.
Those Jewish magicians probably wanted to use the fragment of the Spear of Longinus, along with some major magic rituals, to slay a god, but they failed in the end.
“However, I don’t know if I have the luck to become a Shi Shenzhe. But if it were you, Aiwas, you should be able to change someone’s luck, right!”
Roy put down the fragment of the Spear of Longinus and suddenly turned to Aiwas.
Becoming a Shi Shenzhe didn’t rely on strength or wisdom. Whether it was through using external objects or accepting the help of others, the process wasn’t important. What mattered was that Roy only needed to achieve the result of killing a god with his own hands.
The 'Holy Guardian Angel' Aiwas was his ‘luck’!
Aiwas looked at Roy’s inquisitive gaze. She nodded slightly and said, "….The props here can complete an angelic ritual——‘Angel Fall’."
