“Sssssss————Rooooaaaaar——————”
The ferocious Dire Wolf pounced on Odilia, its massive teeth bared, ready to tear into her.
——Was she going to be eaten again?
Odilia was terrified. Though she knew this was a dream, that dying wouldn't actually kill her, everything she was experiencing felt so real, so lifelike!
Even watching horror movies could be scary, let alone actually experiencing being eaten. It wasn't even on the same level of fear!
Odilia felt her neck grow cold!
Most importantly, this game didn't completely block out pain!
When she was drowning, she felt the suffocating feeling of being unable to breathe. It was a torturous discomfort. When her head was bitten off in the previous death, she felt a pain she'd never experienced before.
Fortunately, the pain intensity in this game seemed to be adjusted quite low. But even so, the feeling of death was not something anyone would want to experience twice!
Faced with the threat of death, Odilia's survival instinct erupted fiercely. She struggled, and managed to dodge the Dire Wolf's bite!
The Dire Wolf seemed surprised that this weak "food" could struggle so much. It couldn't help but grow more enraged, letting out a roar.
She managed to dodge once, but Odilia wasn't able to completely avoid the attack. The Dire Wolf bit her shoulder.
The intense pain made Odilia scream. She didn't even dare to look at her shoulder, fearing it must be drenched in blood by now.
Odilia's resistance weakened significantly. The Dire Wolf knew it was time to enjoy the spoils of victory. It opened its massive maw once more.
——Was she going to die?
Odilia gave up resisting, closing her eyes, waiting for death to come.
——If only the pain of death could be blocked, this game would be much more popular…
This was Odilia's thought before death. Of course, the thought of dragging the game's creators out and beating them a hundred times was even stronger!
“It's too early to give up now——!”
In this moment of despair, a man's voice echoed. A hunter, carrying a massive greatsword on his back, leaped from a nearby cliff onto the Dire Wolf's head, immediately unleashing a flurry of blows.
The Dire Wolf let out a pained roar, violently shaking its head to try and throw the hunter off.
Odilia stood up, witnessing the hunter's battle with the Dire Wolf.
At this moment, the hunter undoubtedly had the upper hand. He had leaped onto the Dire Wolf's head, exploiting the monster's weakness. Every attack sent the Dire Wolf howling in pain.
The Dire Wolf, though possessing some intelligence, or perhaps simply driven to get rid of the hunter on its head, recklessly charged towards a nearby rock.
The hunter timely jumped off, while the Dire Wolf, dazed and confused, successfully got rid of the hunter.
“This way, hurry——!” The hunter beckoned to Odilia, who quickly followed him.
Seeing the two fleeing, the Dire Wolf's eyes turned red. It let out a deafening roar, and gave chase.
“It's right ahead——hurry!” The Dire Wolf was still chasing quickly. The hunter pointed ahead, speaking.
Ahead stood a giant wooden gate. The wood was thick and sturdy, obviously built to keep monsters out.
“Finally——”
Seeing the gate, Odilia felt like she saw a "clear" path, instantly filled with renewed energy.
“Haha, did you see that, you damn developers? Even like this, I still passed!” If it wasn't for the Dire Wolf hot on their heels, Odilia would definitely have celebrated properly, and cursed out the developers.
However, joy soon turned to sorrow.
“Watch out——!”
An even louder roar erupted. Then, a giant monster suddenly jumped in front of them!
“Tyrannosaurus Rex?!!!”
A massive monster, resembling a Tyrannosaurus Rex, a behemoth even larger than the Dire Wolf they'd just encountered!
“Damn… it's a Deviljho!” The male hunter drew his greatsword from his back, saying.
“Devil…jho?”
“Be careful, this guy is also called the Tyrant of the Forest. Countless new hunters have fallen to it.”
Looking at the Deviljho, even bigger and fiercer than the Dire Wolf, Odilia had no doubt that this creature could crush her with a single stomp!
The Deviljho roared at the two. The sound was so sharp and loud that Odilia felt her brain buzzing, her body becoming unresponsive.
Dragon Roar!
“This… how do we fight something so big?”
“Ah? Well, that’s…”
However, the Deviljho focused its gaze behind them — the Dire Wolf!
The two monsters glared at each other, their battle about to erupt!
“Our chance! We need to slip into the base while they fight!” The hunter said.
Odilia hastily nodded. A single Dire Wolf had already made Odilia anxious, let alone another, seemingly even stronger Deviljho!
Click——
The hunter activated a mechanism, closing the giant wooden door. Odilia saw the two monsters clashing outside, the Deviljho seemingly dominating the battle.
