Chapter 9
First Steps in Diagon Alley

“Knockturn Alley!”

As Ethan walked toward the Leaky Cauldron from Florean Fortescue's Ice-Cream Parlour, he passed a fork in the road and happened to see a signpost with a blood-hand symbol pointing toward a gloomy alleyway.

The sign next to it read "Knockturn Alley".

Standing at the entrance of the alleyway, Ethan hesitated for only three seconds before resolutely walking inside.

Conventional methods weren't good for getting Galleons, but unconventional methods weren't necessarily bad, after all, everything that made money was written in the criminal code.

Anyway, he had the ability to use any magic, as long as it wasn't witnessed, he wouldn't be noticed by anyone.

Using this ability to do something outside the rules was perfect.

This Knockturn Alley was the black market of the wizarding world, specializing in trading some shady magical items. The situation inside was also mixed, with those who specialized in making a quick buck, and those who couldn't survive in the wizarding world, of course, there were also many Ministry of Magic fugitives hidden inside.

It was still a bit risky for underage young wizards to go in, but with three full-level Unforgivable Curses at his disposal, Ethan ignored these threats.

After all, they were hiding in Knockturn Alley, how strong could they be?

As Ethan walked forward, the road became more and more gloomy. Unlike the sunny Diagon Alley, it seemed like the sun couldn't reach here, everything was shrouded in shadow.

And although they were tightly connected streets, Diagon Alley was bustling with people, and there were also many wizards coming and going in Knockturn Alley, but they were all gloomy.

Only Ethan was different from them, his face, simply dressed, was filled with curiosity and excitement, he was darting around the stalls.

Just like those naughty little wizards who had heard about the legends of Knockturn Alley and secretly came here to see the world, like fools.

“These are powerful magic props, with them, you will be invincible in wizard duels, take a look?”

The old wizard leaning against the wall, showing his big yellow teeth, selling his wares to Ethan.

Ethan looked at the things on this stall, there were skulls of humans or unknown animals, meaningless beads, sculptures, and small bottles of potions with no labels.

Obviously, these weren't anything legitimate.

“No, thanks, I don't need these.”

Taking two steps back, Ethan waved his hand and quickly walked forward:

“Heh!”

Seeing Ethan leave in a hurry, the old wizard curled his lips and sneered twice, without trying to hold him back.

Although most of the things he had on display were fakes, if Ethan was willing to spend money with him, he could still kindly remind him, after all, he was still close to the entrance.

But now, let him be eaten dry by those scum!

“Come one, come all! The latest wizard novels, 'The Witch and the Seven Fairies', 'The Witch and the Werewolf', these are the latest bestsellers, you can't buy them outside!”

On a stall full of books, the middle-aged boss with a pockmarked face, showing a playful expression, recommended his goods to the passing wizards.

Seeing the white, fleshy thighs shaking constantly on the book covers, Ethan immediately shifted his gaze and quickly walked forward, looking like a pure, innocent little boy.

Thus, Ethan wandered around with his eyes darting left and right, as if he was interested in everything but too timid to buy anything as he walked inside.

He attracted the attention of many people along the way.

“Lost, are you? Do you need me to walk you out?”

Finally, these people ran out of patience, three wizards wearing dirty wizard robes, exuding a sour smell, dressed with their faces hidden under hoods, blocked Ethan at a corner.

They had been watching Ethan ever since he entered Knockturn Alley.

There were a few others who were also eyeing this fat sheep, but they were chased away by these three.

Wizards were also a valuable resource, selling them to those who did experiments was quite valuable.

Of course, if this little wizard had a lot of Galleons at home, it wasn't impossible for his family to redeem him.

“Thank you, I know my way!”

Ethan lowered his head, ready to bypass the wizard in front.

But they obviously wouldn't let Ethan get his way, one of them directly put his hand on Ethan's shoulder, leaning down and whispering in Ethan's ear: "I think you need our help, don't you think?"

“Think carefully before you speak.”

The second hand was placed on Ethan's shoulder, completely controlling him.

Lowering his head, Ethan said in an almost inaudible voice: "I need your help!"

Just in the shadows, none of the three noticed the smile at the corner of Ethan's mouth.

You want to catch me and do something to me, I happen to have the same idea.

“That's right, come with me, I'll take you out.”

The first wizard said, grabbing Ethan's sleeve, pulling him towards the deeper part of Knockturn Alley.

In their opinion, this little wizard was already in their hands.

This little wizard, at most, was a Hogwarts second-year student, there were not many spells he could cast clearly, how could he make any waves?

The surrounding wizards were accustomed to this scene, each one of them was indifferent.

They walked for about fifty meters before Ethan and the three adult wizards stopped.

Ethan pulled back his sleeve and coldly asked, “Where are we going?”

“We're at our base in Knockturn Alley!”

“How many people are there in the base?”

“One person left behind.”

“Take me there.”
