Meng Yun and Yu Fei had arranged to meet at Ding Dian’s coffee shop.
These past few days, Meng Yun and Yu Fei had exhausted all their connections, but they couldn’t find any information about Yang Yu.
There were only two possibilities: either Yang Yu was a scammer, or he was someone with extraordinary connections, making it impossible for them to find any information about him.
They had come to despise Yang Yu within these two days, convinced that he was a womanizer who only wanted to cheat people out of their money and relationships.
They arrived at the coffee shop, filled with the hope of rescuing Lin Jia and Ding Dian from their predicament. They imagined revealing Yang Yu’s true nature, which would make both Lin Jia and Ding Dian return to their side out of gratitude.
As they walked in, they saw Ding Dian and Lin Jia happily chatting at a table by the window.
Lin Jia, upon seeing them enter, put away her smile and said, “Just say what you need to say. Don’t contact us anymore after this.”
Meng Yun had just settled into his seat when he felt a surge of anger upon hearing Lin Jia’s words. He had come with good intentions to warn her, only to be met with such coldness.
Suppressing his anger, Meng Yun calmly said, “That Yang Yu is a scammer, don’t be fooled by him.”
Before Lin Jia could respond, Ding Dian interjected, “How can you just call him a scammer? What did he scam you of?”
Yu Fei, upon hearing Ding Dian’s words, became unhappy.
“He clearly wants to have his cake and eat it too! We’re only trying to warn you both with good intentions.” Yu Fei said unhappily.
Ding Dian sneered, “You have the nerve to say that? You should stop messing around outside!”
“I’m the company’s PR manager, it’s unavoidable for me to socialize outside. But I’m sincere to you, and I’m working hard for our future.” Yu Fei explained.
“You’re so good at making excuses. Without me, you wouldn’t be working hard, would you?” Ding Dian said.
Meng Yun saw that they were about to start arguing again. He quickly interrupted them, because this wasn’t the reason they came today.
“Okay, both of you, let’s calm down. We truly came here with good intentions.” Meng Yun said.
“Oh really? What evidence do you have to prove that Yang Yu is a scammer?” Lin Jia asked.
Meng Yun awkwardly said, “I don’t have any direct evidence, but I’m certain that he has an ulterior motive in approaching you.”
“Cut it out! Of course, a man would have a motive for approaching a woman. Didn’t you have one when you pursued me?” Lin Jia said disdainfully.
“It’s different for me. I was sincere towards you.” Meng Yun said awkwardly.
“Sincere? What were you doing when I was heartbroken and sad? Weren’t you out carousing every night? Is that how you’re sincere?” Lin Jia sneered.
Meng Yun was speechless and could only look to Yu Fei for help.
Yu Fei chimed in, “Okay, listen to me for a second. I don’t know what love potion he’s fed you two, but he bought this coffee shop for Ding Dian while also pursuing Lin Jia. He’s clearly a playboy.”
Meng Yun added, “Yes, he’s clearly a playboy. Lin Jia, you should stay away from him.”
“I know about him buying the coffee shop for Ding Dian. Okay, all things considered, nobody’s good enough for me, only you are, right?” Lin Jia sneered.
“Let’s not meet again or contact each other anymore. Yang Yu is my boyfriend now, and I don’t want to hear anyone badmouthing him.” Lin Jia continued.
Ding Dian also said, “Who cares who bought the coffee shop for me? We have nothing to do with you now. You two are clearly trying to stir up trouble. I think you’re the ones with ulterior motives.”
With that, Ding Dian grabbed Lin Jia and left, not giving Meng Yun and Yu Fei any chance to say anything further.
Back home, Lin Jia told Yang Yu everything that happened at the coffee shop.
“It makes me so mad! I never realized that Meng Yun was this kind of person before. He badmouths people behind their backs. I was so blind!” Lin Jia said angrily.
“Everyone encounters a few scumbags. It’s good that you’ve seen his true colors.” Yang Yu said with a smile.
At the same time, he thought to himself: I didn’t want to bother with you two, but you guys came looking for trouble. Don’t blame me for being merciless.
At his level, it was simply too easy to bring down Meng Yun and Yu Fei’s company. A few phone calls could do the trick.
They discussed their plans to visit Lin Jia’s family tomorrow, taking the opportunity to learn more about her family.
Lin Jia’s hometown was a small county in Northern China. Her parents were ordinary workers, now retired. She was an only child, from a very ordinary family.
That night, they were once again engaged in a fierce battle. After Lin Jia fell asleep, Yang Yu quietly got up and went to Ding Dian’s house.
He had used the “Time Makes the Heart Grow Fonder” card on Ding Dian, and she would always think of him, but Ding Dian was still a human being with emotions, not a puppet, so he still tried his best to soothe her.
