Chapter 24
Class Reunion

Lin Jia's phone was already lost when Yang Yu was performing his heroic rescue, and since she was abroad, she couldn't replace the card, so she could only wait until she returned to the country to get a new one.

However, Meng Yun was unaware of this and began to let his imagination run wild after several attempts to call her only to find her phone off.

Human imagination can be quite terrifying; Meng Yun thought of all the possible reasons for Lin Jia's phone being off, with anxiety, fear, terror, and anger flooding his mind.

In desperation, Meng Yun and Yu Fei could only use all their connections to start gathering information about Yang Yu.

.......

Yang Yu and Lin Jia had already boarded the flight back home.

As they exited the airport, Lin Jia was pouting, looking quite unhappy, while Yang Yu was beside her, cheerfully trying to cheer her up.

The two looked like a playful couple in the midst of a light-hearted quarrel.

On the tenth day of Yang Yu pretending to be injured, Lin Jia inadvertently saw him bouncing around full of energy.

Lin Jia discreetly asked the attending physician, who, having received a bribe, certainly wouldn't betray Yang Yu, so he could only tell Lin Jia that Yang Yu had only superficial injuries and, due to his better-than-average constitution, had already recovered within a week.

After spending some time together, Lin Jia had developed a bit of a fondness for Yang Yu, and upon hearing the doctor's words, she didn't think much of it; she merely assumed Yang Yu wanted to garner her sympathy, feeling not angry but rather pleased in her heart.

However, she couldn't let Yang Yu get too smug, so she occasionally teased him about his antics and threw little tantrums.

The two continued to playfully bicker, first going to buy a new phone and then replacing the SIM card.

Then Lin Jia wanted to go find Ding Dian, and although Yang Yu wanted to tag along, he was refused and had to return home alone.

When Ding Dian saw Lin Jia looking radiant, she had to suppress her jealousy.

Teasingly, she said, “Wow! You were gone for over ten days, and at first, you even called, but then your phone was off. Just the two of you, did anything scandalous happen?”

Lin Jia shyly replied, “Don’t say that, I just lost my phone.”

Lin Jia didn't plan to tell Ding Dian about encountering the thugs, fearing it would worry her.

Ding Dian made Lin Jia a cup of her favorite coffee, and the two sat down to chat.

At that moment, Lin Jia opened her phone, chatting with Ding Dian while fiddling with it.

She then noticed several messages from Meng Yun trying to call her.

She used to hope that Meng Yun would call or text her first to apologize, and she would then forgive him.

But now, seeing that Meng Yun had called, she suddenly didn't know what to do, feeling a bit at a loss.

“Do you think I should return Meng Yun's call?” Lin Jia asked, wanting Ding Dian to give her some advice.

“With you and Yang Yu being so ambiguous, how can you still be thinking about Meng Yun?” Ding Dian teased.

“I’m feeling a bit confused, which is why I came to you. Please help me figure out what I should do,” Lin Jia said.

Ding Dian was, of course, leaning towards Yang Yu.

“You were with Meng Yun just because he was a poor guy, but now that he has money, how does he treat you? Look at Yang Yu, he’s already so wealthy and treats you so well; even a fool knows who to choose.” Ding Dian said, siding with Yang Yu.

Although Lin Jia knew Ding Dian made sense, she still couldn't let go of Meng Yun, feeling conflicted and finding it hard to decide.

At that moment, Lin Jia's phone rang.

“Hello! Lin Jia, you finally turned your phone on! I’ve called you so many times!”

It was a call from one of Lin Jia's university classmates.

“I was traveling abroad and lost my phone. What’s up, old classmate?”

“You came back just in time! There’s a class reunion tomorrow night, and you must come! We haven’t gathered in years, and you can bring a plus one.”

Lin Jia quickly agreed; it had been five years since their last reunion, and she was a bit excited.

After agreeing on the time and place, they hung up.

Ding Dian said from the side, “A class reunion, huh? I heard there were quite a few guys from your class who pursued you back then, but you chose Meng Yun, that poor guy. Now that he’s successful, and you two have broken up, who knows how many people are waiting to see you make a fool of yourself.”

“They’re all old classmates; what’s there to laugh about?” Lin Jia said skeptically.

“Well, whether you believe it or not, you must dress up nicely and look your best. Come on, let’s go shopping,” Ding Dian said, pulling Lin Jia along without giving her a chance to refuse.

Turning back to the busy Ke Er at the bar, she said, “Ke Er, you keep an eye on things here. Close up when it’s time; I won’t be back.”

On their way home, the two had bought a bunch of things in large and small bags.

They placed their purchases on the coffee table and half-lay on the sofa.

Lin Jia complained, “I’m happy buying things now, but next month when the credit card bill comes, I’ll be worried.”

Ding Dian teased, “Why worry? Just beckon that guy across the street, and the whole mall will be moved to your home.”

After saying that, the two began to playfully wrestle, filling the room with laughter and warmth.
