Chapter 22
Not a Small Star, Just a Damn Nobody

“Bang!”

“Liang Zai Dong, are you looking for trouble?”

Just a moment ago, the usually calm Lao Gui Lu couldn't hold back any longer. He slammed his palm on the table and stood up abruptly, his flabby body shaking with anger as he pointed at Chen Dong with wide, furious eyes.

When he first heard from his little brother that his subordinate Da Ji had been beaten up by Liang Zai Dong and Huo Bao in Mong Kok, he was initially furious. However, he quickly calmed down. Not to mention that Liang Zai Dong was with Lian Sheng, even just Liang Zai Dong's strength in Mong Kok was something he couldn't handle. The two factions were right next to each other, and he knew better than anyone what Liang Zai Dong was capable of. Over a year ago, Liang Zai Dong had taken control of two streets in Changle with just a handful of people. Now, with over two thousand men in Mong Kok, if a fight broke out, he wouldn't stand a chance. Even Uncle Mei wouldn't risk a conflict with Lian Sheng over such a small territory; in the end, he would be the one to suffer losses.

Moreover, Liang Zai Dong was currently being watched by the police. Just yesterday, the head of the anti-triad unit, Li Wenbin, who was about to be transferred to their area, had just warned him not to cause any trouble. For someone like him, who had seen through the essence of the underworld, it was natural not to provoke the police or jeopardize his finances.

So, in the spirit of making a profit through harmony, he decided to swallow his anger. As the ancient saying goes, "Endure for a moment and the wind will calm; take a step back and the sea will be vast." Life is like... just endure and it will pass. He wasn't young anymore; why bother competing with these youngsters?

But now, Liang Zai Dong's unmasked gaze really provoked him. If he continued to endure in front of his little brother, he might as well quit the underworld and go home to play Ninja Turtles with his son.

At this moment, not even Li Wenbin, let alone his father, would be of any help!

“Bang!”

“Boom!”

“What? You want to play? Do you think you can handle it? Look at what your little brother did to my cousin! His handsome face is ruined! I brought you here to collect someone, and you made me wait for over three hours. What’s the deal? You brought so many people, are you scared? If you're scared, go home and buy salted duck eggs instead of coming out to mix in this world. Do you believe I’ll bring people tomorrow to take over your two streets?”

Chen Dong also slammed his palm on the table, but he was so into the act that he didn't hold back, smashing the solid wood table of the tea restaurant into pieces. He pointed at Lao Gui Lu's chubby face and shouted.

To be honest, he realized he had a bit of a talent for playing the villain; he was so immersed in his performance.

The people around were startled by Chen Dong's slap. That was a solid wood table, and he smashed it to bits with one hit. Just how much strength did he have?

They had heard that Liang Zai Dong could fight, leading dozens of men to take on hundreds in Changle and actually winning, but they had never seen it with their own eyes. They thought it was somewhat exaggerated, as there were many such wild rumors in the underworld.

Not long ago, there were rumors that "Liang Zai Nan" from Causeway Bay was the biological son of Boss B.

But anyone who had seen "Liang Zai Nan" knew that was nonsense. How could a short, poor, and ugly guy like Boss B possibly have such a handsome son?

But now, with Chen Dong's slap, they felt the shockwave in the air from such close proximity.

Meanwhile, the tea restaurant owner, peeking out from behind, was in tears. That was his family's heirloom table...

“Then what... what do you want?”

Lao Gui Lu, now intimidated, felt his flabby face trembling slightly, genuinely afraid that this guy would slap him next.

If he could smash a solid wood table to pieces, what would happen if he hit him?

Thinking of his beautiful wives at home and the way the prince looked at his fourth wife... he felt he couldn't die yet!

Although it was a bit embarrassing, being embarrassed was better than losing his life. Temporary tolerance was not surrender; it was a strategic retreat.

Being born into a humble background is not a shame; being able to endure and adapt is what makes a man!

“What do you mean? Didn’t you see my cousin beaten up like this? Have your little brother come over to bow and apologize, and pay for the medical expenses of a hundred or eighty thousand. Then we can consider this matter settled.”

Seeing that Lao Gui Lu was intimidated by his "overbearing aura," Chen Dong's attitude became even more arrogant as he spoke through his nose at Lao Gui Lu.

“A hundred or eighty thousand!? Why don’t you go rob someone? My little brother is like this because of you. Who do I go to for this account?”

As soon as money was mentioned, Lao Gui Lu instantly regained his courage, his demeanor switching back to that of a gang leader.

Are you kidding? Your cousin just got a few scratches and you want a hundred or eighty thousand? My little brother has been turned into a fool; how do we settle that?

“You can find whoever you want to settle this with, even if you want to find your mother! If you can't handle it, then you have to admit it. After so many years in this world, you don't understand this? Do you want me to take over your two streets right now and settle it with you?”

Chen Dong retracted his "overbearing aura" and shrugged indifferently.

He felt he had acted enough; if he pushed too hard and forced Lao Gui Lu into a corner, it would turn into him causing trouble.

“A few brothers here drinking milk tea without notifying me, planning to shoot a gangster blockbuster? Liang Zai Dong, Lao Gui Lu, is Mong Kok no longer enough for you?”

Before Lao Gui Lu could speak, a well-dressed middle-aged man walked in with several plainclothes officers. The middle-aged man approached Liang Zai Dong and Lao Gui Lu and said.

“Sir Gong, right? What you said is interesting. I’m a good citizen here. Those people outside are either from the neighborhood of Temple Street or this gang leader Lu's little brothers. I heard the braised pork rice at Temple Street is good, so my brothers and I just came to try it. But then we saw a bunch of short mules bullying a pair of underage boys and girls. As an extremely excellent good citizen, I even won an Outstanding Community Youth Award when I was young. How could I just stand by? Who knew these short mules were all show and no substance? I hadn’t even used much strength before they fell down. Then I was inexplicably blocked by this Lu brother, saying I beat up his little brother and demanding a hundred or eighty thousand in medical fees. Sir Gong, you know, as good citizens, we don’t steal or rob, where would we get that much money? They are clearly robbing me; hurry and catch them.”

Seeing the leading middle-aged man had an extraordinary demeanor, it was clear he was a successful person. After glancing at the badge in front of him, he realized it was Inspector Gong Jiapei. Immediately, he jumped behind him with a face like a primary school student reporting a grievance, pointing at Lao Gui Lu with a pitiful expression and said to the middle-aged man.

“.........”

The crowd watched his brilliant performance, their mouths twitching.

With that face and acting skills, he should go be a little star instead of mixing with short mules.

If they didn’t know this bastard’s identity, they might have actually believed him.

“You...”

Watching the villain report first, and with such good acting skills, Lao Gui Lu was so furious that his flabby body trembled. The people around were worried that this pig might faint from the anger.
