Chapter 31
Liberation Monument vs. Spring Breeze

Chunfeng High School, Class 3, Grade 2.

The teacher was lecturing on the podium, but Li An Ran, sitting in the back, felt like a pin was stuck in her chair. Her head kept turning towards the door, as if she was expecting something.

“Li An Ran, what are you doing?” the female teacher suddenly asked, startling Li An Ran, who instinctively stood up.

“I’ve noticed you’ve been restless since the class began. What’s going on?”

As the class teacher, she knew Li An Ran very well. She was a gentle girl with good grades, a typical good student. If she wasn’t acting so out of character today, the teacher wouldn’t have called her out.

Li An Ran quickly waved her hands and said,

“Sorry, teacher, I’m fine.”

The teacher looked at Li An Ran deeply before saying,

“Then sit down and pay attention to the class.”

The incident became a small interruption that quickly passed.

After class, Li An Ran leaned against the railing outside, staring blankly into the distance.

At this moment, Ma Tian came to Li An Ran's side and leaned against the railing, asking,

“What were you thinking about in class, getting caught by Li Tie Gun?”

“Nothing,” Li An Ran replied listlessly.

Ma Tian chuckled. “You must be thinking about Luo Chuan. It's the day the Jiefangbei High School team is playing against us.”

Li An Ran didn’t contradict him. In fact, she was so restless because Luo Chuan would be coming with the Jiefangbei High School team to play against her school.

When Luo Chuan told her the news, she had been in a state of constant excitement.

“Ma Tian, do you know when they’re coming?” Li An Ran asked.

“They should be here at noon. The game starts in the afternoon. We’ll all be cheering them on, so why worry?”

“What’s there to cheer for? Our team is a bunch of amateurs. We’ll be lucky if we don’t get completely stomped.”

Li An Ran rolled her eyes. She clearly didn’t have much faith in her school’s team.

Ma Tian was speechless. It was him who was here, not someone else. If anyone else heard her say such a discouraging thing, they would have dragged her off to be criticized.

Ma Tian suddenly remembered something and turned to Li An Ran. “I know some things about Luo Chuan. You want to hear them?”

“What could you possibly know?” Li An Ran didn't believe him.

“That’s because you don’t play basketball. In fact, Jiefangbei High School has been making headlines lately. They beat No. 3 and No. 1 high schools in a row a few days ago. It’s mainly because of two players: Liu Wen Qin and Luo Chuan. They’re called the Basketball Double Demons.”

As fate would have it, Li An Ran had met both of them. She never thought Luo Chuan would be so skilled. However, the name “Basketball Double Demons” was incredibly cheesy.

“There are photos from their game on our school forum.”

“Where? Let me see!” Li An Ran immediately took out her phone and, under Ma Tian’s guidance, found the photos from the basketball game.

She clicked on them and the first photo was of Luo Chuan on the court holding a basketball. The photo was blurry, obviously taken secretly with a phone.

The rest were taken from different angles, and Li An Ran noticed that most of the photos were focused on Luo Chuan, with only two or three featuring Liu Wen Qin.

It’s understandable. High schoolers are all about looks.

Li An Ran criticized the unethical nature of secretly taking photos, but then quietly saved them, perfectly demonstrating double standards.

“By the way, you can play basketball too, right? Why don’t you participate in the competition?” Li An Ran curiously asked.

Ma Tian shrugged, looking indifferent. “You already answered the question. Our school is a bunch of amateurs. There’s no point in playing against them.”

Just then, the bell for class rang. Ma Tian walked towards the classroom. “Let’s go, class is starting.”

Because of the basketball game in the afternoon, the entire school, except for Grade 3, had half a day off. However, they couldn’t leave the school.

So after lunch, the entire school started to buzz.

In Class 3, Grade 2, Qiao Yingzi patted Fang Yi Fan on the shoulder and said earnestly,

“Fang Hou’er, this game depends on you and Ji Yang Yang. Don’t lose, okay?”

Fang Yi Fan looked at Qiao Yingzi with disgust and said,

“Yingzi, you’re putting down your own team and boosting the other’s morale. Don’t believe all that Basketball Double Demons stuff online. With me and Ji Yang Yang, they won’t score a single point today. Right, Ji Yang Yang?”

Ji Yang Yang, who had been indifferent, simply glanced at Fang Yi Fan before turning his head away, not even bothering to respond.

“Okay, okay, this big brother here is too cool. I won’t bother him,” Fang Yi Fan said, a bit embarrassed.

Everyone in the classroom booed: "Tch!" Sure enough, Fang Hou’er’s thick skin can withstand even a missile.

Fang Yi Fan ignored the jeers and shamelessly approached a girl with long hair.

“Taozi, you have to cheer me on during the game later.”

Huang Zhi Tao gave Fang Yi Fan a disgusted look. “I'll cheer for you if you play well.”

“You better watch then.”

At this moment, someone shouted from outside: “The Jiefangbei High School team is here!”

As soon as the words left their mouth, everyone in the classroom rushed out. Looking down, they saw a large bus slowly pulling into the school.

After parking, more than ten people filed off the bus.

Li An Ran immediately spotted Luo Chuan at the back. Unable to contain herself, she waved her hand.

As if sensing her, Luo Chuan saw Li An Ran and also waved, signaling, “I see you.”

Liu Wen Qin walked over, looking around and complaining,

“It’s no wonder they call this a key high school. The environment is much better than our shabby school.”

Before he finished speaking, a hand slapped him on the head. Behind him, the coach said with a dark face,

“You’re such a chatterbox! Get your ass over here!”

“Yes, sir,” Liu Wen Qin said with a sheepish smile as he joined Luo Chuan.

After a while, a teacher from Chunfeng High School, who was responsible for welcoming them, came over, shook hands with the coach, mumbled a few words, and led the basketball team towards the gymnasium.

Upon entering the gymnasium, Luo Chuan and his team were familiar with the routine. They changed clothes and warmed up on the court.

Although they were playing away, it wasn’t their first time doing so, so they weren’t nervous.

As everyone warmed up, the gymnasium began to fill up with people sitting in the stands. The initially quiet space became filled with noise.

Soon, the entire gymnasium was packed, filled with a cacophony of voices. Then, Chunfeng High School’s team, accompanied by their physical education teacher, walked in.

It was obvious, without much effort, what the difference in skill was between the two teams.

Jiefangbei High School had a team of tall, strong players. Just standing there, they exuded a powerful presence.

As for Chunfeng High School, well, it’s best to describe them as uneven.
