Chapter 25
I Want to Trick This Fool to the Port Area

“Just trying to scare you. You scared me too,” she said.

“Next time, I’m going to catch you and teach you a lesson, 800 times over!”

After the Azur Lane fleet retreated.

The Purifier stood there dumbfounded for a long time before she finally came to her senses.

The damage inflicted was actually not that great. The battleships and aircraft carriers, which were the main forces, hadn’t taken much damage at all.

As for the destroyers and frigates that had been blown to bits, Siren had plenty to spare. She could just squeeze out a few more when needed.

It was just humiliating.

A few destroyers had been wielding light sabers against her, hacking away. While she was not even scratched, it still made her very upset.

“Whatever, maybe they’ve been cooped up in port for too long and wanted to get out and stretch their legs,” she said.

The Purifier comforted herself with this thought.

Considering there wasn’t much loss, she was too lazy to chase after them anymore.

The next day.

“Alarm! Alarm!”

The Purifier, who had been basking in the sun, was woken up by the alarm again.

“Azur Lane fleet spotted 162 nautical miles to the southwest, 22 ships in total, advancing towards us at 36 knots!”

“?”

“They’re back?!”

The Purifier jolted up and quickly led her fleet to meet the enemy.

But this time, she noticed the Azur Lane ships weren’t carrying shields or light sabers.

They looked the same as usual.

The only difference was that their ship equipment seemed to be fitted with a jet-like device at the bottom.

“Activate thrusters!”

Enterprise gave the order again.

Boom—

The ships, as if they had rocket backpacks, ascended into the air thanks to the thrusters.

Once they reached a height of several dozen meters, they unfolded their equipment and rained fire down upon the enemy from above.

A few of the heavier aircraft carriers and battleships, whose materialized ship equipment was too large, had their thrusters overload and plunged back into the sea with a bang, requiring their companions to fish them out.

“Damn, I wish I didn’t use the 460mm guns… This thing is way too heavy…”

A large fox-like ship squeezed the water out of her tail while muttering under her breath.

“……”

“Performance art?”

The Purifier was completely baffled.

She had only seen planes fly, never ships.

Before the Siren fleet could organize a counterattack, the Azur Lane ships retreated again, disappearing into the distance.

“Second test, Light Pulse Propulsion System. It allows for short-term ascension into the air, but cannot materialize too much ship equipment. Otherwise, it’ll be too heavy and plummet back into the sea,” they wrote.

“Suitable for destroyers. High manufacturing cost, extremely high energy consumption,” they continued.

“Recommendation: Find a way to improve the power…”

The few ships continued to jot down notes as they made their escape.

“……”

“Did you guys drink too much coolant and it’s not digesting properly?”

The ship with large eyes shook her head.

The fifth day.

“Charge!!! Capture the Big Eyes!”

A group of ships rushed forward with thermal axes to engage in hand-to-hand combat.

The seventh day.

“Snipe her! Snipe her! Snipe her!!”

A group of destroyers wielding half-human-tall beam rifles fired at her from a distance of several kilometers away.

Multicolored beams hit her face, though they couldn’t break through her defenses, they were as annoying as the flashing lights in a disco.

While they were firing, those ships continued to take notes.

“Hmm, fourth test, Merlin Beam Rifle. Damage is lower than naval guns, cannot destroy Siren, feels not powerful…”

“Recommendation: Replace with large-caliber weapons…”

“……”

A week, ten days, half a month…

The Purifier had gotten used to this group of ships coming to pick a fight every few days.

They wielded all sorts of bizarre weapons, sometimes they could sink a few small boats, sometimes they couldn’t even break through the defenses of a frigate.

She just lay down and accepted it.

Go ahead and make a scene, you guys can’t even hurt me, I have as many destroyers and frigates as I need.

She couldn’t catch them either.

Watching the Azur Lane fleet come up with new tricks had become a source of entertainment for the Purifier.

Whenever she saw those ships on the horizon, she would eagerly await to see what new gadgets they had cooked up.

After round after round of skirmishes, an odd sort of tacit understanding formed between the two sides.

The Azur Lane ships didn’t go too hard, and the Purifier had no intention of pursuing them or retaliating.

A few days later.

“I mean, aren’t we going to teach them a lesson?”

A humanoid Siren floating beside her asked.

“What’s the point, we can’t get into port anyway, let them mess around as they please,” she said.

The Purifier continued to sprawl across her equipment, playing with the water.

“Their new equipment is pretty interesting, even though it’s weak, it’s fun to watch,” she said.

“Look, they’re coming again,” she added, pointing with her finger.

On the horizon, an Azur Lane squadron had once again entered the Purifier’s jurisdiction.

“Let me have a look and see what new toys you’ve got this time,” she said.

The Big Eyes stood with her arms akimbo, circling around in front of the fleet.

“……”

The Azur Lane ships looked at each other in bewilderment.

This Siren didn’t seem as vicious as the previous ones. She could even talk.

“Go wild, none of those little toys are gonna do anything to me.”

“If I’m in a good mood, maybe I’ll let you live,” she said.

The Purifier looked at Enterprise with a smug expression.

She already had a basic understanding of the new weapons the Azur Lane ships had been pulling out.

Although they were novel, they weren’t really that powerful. Very few of them could match the firepower of a battleship.

They couldn’t break through the armor of a high-level Siren.

“Hey!”

A few ships behind Enterprise scrambled to carry out a cannon-like weapon.

It was about 5 meters long, with a caliber of around 300mm, much shorter and thicker than a normal battleship’s cannon. It was connected to a power supply unit.

“You have ship equipment, why are you carrying a cannon?”

The Big Eyes was curious.

“We’re not sure if it’s going to work, so we didn’t mount it on the hull. This is a prototype,” they explained honestly.

“Oh, alright, you guys go ahead then,” she said.

The Purifier shrugged, inviting the Azur Lane ships to do their worst.

She had full confidence in her armor.

“She seems pretty easygoing, maybe we shouldn’t test this thing on her?”

A few destroyer ship-girls whispered amongst themselves.

“High-level Siren’s vitality is very strong. It’s fine,” said Wales.

“Excuse us,” they said.

“Fire!”

Sizzle—

A golden light gathered inside the cannon.

“Energy weapon? You guys have upgraded,” said the Big Eyes, not a bit afraid, but with a look of curiosity.

Boom—

The immense recoil sent the ships controlling the cannon tumbling backward, almost falling into the sea.

A torrent of reddish-gold energy erupted from the cannon, tearing through two Siren battleships that were blocking the way.

Their heavy armor was nothing in the face of the high-energy beam.

Then, it hit the Purifier who was still watching the show.

“Oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh!”

The immense force sent the Big Eyes and her equipment flying into the sky, turning her into a shooting star that vanished over the horizon.

“……”

The few Azur Lane ships squinted and watched as the Purifier streaked across the sky. They gave her a salute.

Then they took out their notebooks.

“Sixteenth test,” they wrote.

“MGX-2235 Fiery Compound Beam Cannon. It can penetrate the defenses of Siren battleships and effectively target high-level Siren, excellent power,” they continued.

“Huge energy consumption, huge recoil, suitable for modification into battleship main cannon…,” they added.

“Note: The high-level Siren in this area seems not very intelligent, maybe we can lure her to port in the future,” they concluded.
