Chapter 40
The Black-Eyed Serpent, Envoy of the Magic Kingdom

“An Li Man, why did you stop?”

Shirley Yang tried to pat the camel, but the camel wouldn’t move.

“I don’t know. My camel has never acted like this before.”

An Li Man got off and led the camel, but it refused to walk forward.

“Animals are more sensitive to danger than we are. They must have sensed danger and that’s why they don’t want to move forward.” Lu Feng said.

“Danger?”

Everyone’s nerves were immediately on edge.

“Get down.”

Lu Feng jumped off the camel and surveyed the area. “Shirley, throw a flare over there.”

Shirley took out a flare and threw it forward. In the light of the red flames, a figure was sitting against a rock.

The man was dressed in a white robe and wore a headscarf to protect him from the sand. He had a backpack on his back and remained motionless.

“Someone!”

Hu Ba Yi and Wang Pangzi immediately raised their rifles and aimed at the figure. “Hey, friend, who are you?”

Professor Chen and the others’ hearts hung in suspense.

Several seconds passed, and there was no response.

Lu Feng activated his Celestial Eye.

The scene before him was revealed to him. Four people were lying in different places, and six strange snakes were hiding under the bodies.

“Six?”

Lu Feng’s eyebrows twitched. This number was beyond his expectations.

“Answer, or we’ll shoot!” Hu Ba Yi shouted.

A few more seconds passed, and there was no response.

“That person must be dead.” Lu Feng said.

“Dead?”

Hu Ba Yi and Wang Pangzi exchanged glances and fired several shots at the ground near the person. The bullets hit, but the person still remained motionless.

“I’ll go take a look.” Lu Feng said.

“I’ll go with you.” Shirley followed with her pistol.

Lu Feng brought her to a point five meters in front of the person, shining his flashlight on his face. It was a bluish-green.

“What happened?” Shirley asked.

“He must have been poisoned.”

“Poisoned?”

Bang!!

The sound of a heavy object falling shattered the silence.

Shirley jumped in fright.

Then she heard a panicked voice.

“Xiao Ye, what’s wrong with you?”

“Teacher, Xiao Ye is unconscious!”

“What happened?”

“I don’t know.”

“…”

Shirley hurried back to the group and saw Ye Yi Xin collapsed on the ground, pale and lifeless. “What happened?”

Hu Ba Yi, having examined Ye Yi Xin, said, “She’s suffering from heatstroke, which has led to acute dehydration. If she doesn’t get enough water - ”

“Xiao Ye, I have water.”

Hao Ai Guo handed over his water bottle.

Ye Yi Xin finished the water and took some medicine before regaining some of her energy.

“We’re about to find the Tomb of the Queen, how could this happen?” Hao Ai Guo complained.

“How could this happen? Doesn’t she like to wash her hands with water? She wasted all her water, of course she’s dehydrated.” Wang Pangzi said.

Hao Ai Guo and the others opened their mouths, speechless.

Ye Yi Xin regretted it and was scared. “I’m sorry, I didn’t expect this to happen.”

“Xiao Ye, hold on. There might be water in the Tomb of the Queen.” Chu Jian said.

On the other side.

Lu Feng used the flare to illuminate the area. Four bodies lay still on the ground, their faces frozen in terror.

The previous sounds hadn’t lured out the five strange snakes, which still hid in the shadows.

“It’s a pity that the Snake Control Technique only works on snakes. If I could control them, I could catch two.”

Lu Feng took out his rifle, ready to shoot the snakes.

At that moment.

Hao Ai Guo ran over and rushed towards a corpse.

“Don’t go there.” Lu Feng shouted.

“I’m checking to see if they have water.” Hao Ai Guo shook the water bag. “Great, this water bag still has water!”

Just then.

A red flash emerged from under the corpse. It was a strange snake with a fleshy crown on its head. Its scales shimmered with a strong red light, staring fixedly at him.

Hao Ai Guo’s pupils contracted, and he held his breath.

Shirley Yang, Professor Chen, Hu Ba Yi, and the others’ hearts all jumped into their throats.

Swoosh!

The snake shot out like an arrow, instantly biting into Hao Ai Guo’s neck.

Hao Ai Guo’s eyes widened, and his body immediately became paralyzed.

After only two seconds, Hao Ai Guo collapsed to the ground.

“Ai Guo!”

Professor Chen’s eyes went black, and he fainted.

Chu Jian and Ye Yi Xin were so scared that their faces turned pale, and they couldn’t utter a word.

“He’s… dead?”

Wang Pangzi felt a chill run down his spine. He aimed his rifle at the snake. “Damn it, what kind of strange snake is this?”

“I don’t know!”

Hu Ba Yi was filled with shock, terrified by the snake’s venom.

Shirley Yang didn’t think so much. Seeing the snake loosen its grip on Hao Ai Guo, she decisively fired two shots, one hitting the snake’s head and the other hitting its body.

The snake immediately fell to the ground.

“Everyone be careful. There might be more than one.” Shirley Yang said, continuously throwing flares around. “Don’t get bitten by them!”

Hu Ba Yi and Wang Pangzi exchanged glances, raising their guard to the highest level.

One bite, instant death, no time to save.

Lu Feng shook his head.

I told you not to move, yet you still did.

His gaze turned to the snake’s corpse on the ground. It had a fleshy crown on its head, and the red light on its scales faded to reveal its original black color. It was only thirty centimeters long.

Indeed, it was strange.

As he observed the snake’s corpse, a red flash shot out from under the yellow sand. A strange snake lunged towards his face. Lu Feng reacted quickly, firing his gun.

Pff!

The snake’s head was blown apart!

“Damn, there’s more!”

Before they could breathe a sigh of relief, four strange snakes crawled out from under the other three corpses. Their black scales quickly turned red, and they lunged towards Lu Feng.

“Shoot!”

Hu Ba Yi and Wang Pangzi used their rifles to spray bullets at two of the snakes. The two snakes dodged many bullets by weaving left and right, but were eventually shot dead.

Shirley Yang ran out of bullets, and she hadn’t hit any snakes.

The two snakes reached Lu Feng’s side.

Lu Feng quickly dodged, and his rifle seemed to have a mind of its own. He swung it lightly, and ten bullets poured out onto the two black snakes.

Their heads were blown apart.

“That shooting! Amazing!”

Wang Pangzi exclaimed in admiration.
