Chapter 49
The Optimistic Diana

They stayed in Hong Kong for a few days.

Kang Er Zheng felt bored.

“Mommy, we’re leaving now.” Kang Er Zheng told Ah Zhuan, with Coco beside him.

“Be careful.” Ah Zhuan gave them some advice.

“Okay.” Kang Er Zheng nodded.

The two of them boarded the plane to Guangzhou.

An hour later, Kang Er Zheng and Coco landed in Guangzhou.

“This is your room, you've been here before.” Kang Er Zheng opened the door.

“Yeah, I know.” Coco nodded and went in with her luggage.

“I've washed and disinfected everything.” Kang Er Zheng said.

“Oh.” Coco made the bed.

“Hurry up and tidy up, we’re going to the next door to eat later.” Kang Er Zheng said.

“Aren't you going to help me?” Coco looked at Kang Er Zheng, who was standing with his arms crossed.

“Do your own things yourself.” Kang Er Zheng said, still standing still.

Coco had no choice but to do it herself.

“By the way, don’t touch the vases and porcelain in my room, those are antiques.” Kang Er Zheng suddenly remembered something and reminded her.

This girl always liked to cause trouble in his room.

“Antiques, very valuable?” Coco asked curiously.

“What do you think, tens of thousands for each piece.” Kang Er Zheng glanced at Coco.

“Oh, I’ll be careful then.” Coco nodded.

Although she was naughty, she knew her limits.

In the past, the family’s condition was okay.

But ever since her brother went to college, the family’s conditions had improved, and she was not stupid, she knew it was Kang Er Zheng who earned it.

“Hurry up and work, so much nonsense.” Kang Er Zheng kicked Coco's butt.

Coco hugged her butt and stared at Kang Er Zheng.

“Hmph.”

After glaring, she had to continue working.

A few minutes later, Coco had packed everything.

“Go next door, meet Big Brother and Big Sister-in-Law.” Kang Er Zheng turned and left.

Coco followed behind.

They arrived at the next door.

There was no one in the living room.

They heard a clattering sound from the kitchen.

“Let’s go in and have a look.” Kang Er Zheng continued walking inside.

In the dining room, through the window, they saw Diana, Xīnzi and Xiang Lan cooking inside.

Kang Bo was standing with his arms crossed watching.

“Big Brother.” Kang Er Zheng called out.

“Ah Zheng, you’re back?” Kang Bo saw Kang Er Zheng, and then saw the girl behind him. “Coco, you’re here too.”

“Big Brother.” Coco also called out to Kang Bo.

“Yeah.” Kang Bo didn’t feel comfortable but still responded.

“What are they doing?” Coco asked curiously.

“Well, I've been teaching them theory for a few days, it’s time for them to practice.” Kang Bo explained.

“Practice cooking?” Coco didn’t understand.

Kang Er Zheng explained what they were doing to Coco.

“Oh, so that’s it, that sounds fun, I want to be a judge too.” Coco was very interested and enthusiastic.

“Okay.” Kang Bo had no objections. “Then the three of us will be the judges, those food programs on TV all have three judges.”

“Yay!” Coco was very happy.

A few minutes later.

Dining room.

Kang Er Zheng and the other three sat waiting for the food.

“Clap clap, serve the food.” Kang Er Zheng clapped his hands. “Who’s first?”

“I’m first.” Xiang Lan raised her hand, then brought out a clay pot from the kitchen.

“What is this?” Kang Bo asked.

“This is my stewed fig and chicken feet.” Xiang Lan introduced her soup.

“In Guangzhou, we don’t call it chicken feet, we call it Phoenix claws.” Kang Bo corrected.

“Oh, Phoenix claws.” Xiang Lan took note.

Then she divided the soup into three portions.

One for each of the three “elders.”

Kang Er Zheng and the others didn’t stand on ceremony, they took their soup spoons and took a sip.

Xiang Lan watched them expectantly.

“Your Phoenix claws didn’t come out.” Kang Bo was the first to speak. “Phoenix claws that haven’t come out make a sticky soup.”

“I think it’s okay, after all it’s home cooking, reaching this level is already good enough, but it’s still not flavorful enough.” Kang Er Zheng said. “Coco, what do you think?”

“It’s a bit sour.” Coco took a sip and stopped. “Not good.”

“Hehe.” Kang Er Zheng quickly covered Coco’s mouth.

“You heard that, even a kid thinks it’s not good.” Kang Bo said to Xiang Lan.

“Oh.” Xiang Lan was a little disappointed.

“Next.” Kang Bo shouted.

They saw Xīnzi bringing out a plate of fried rice.

“This is my Fúróng chǎofàn.” Xīnzi introduced.

They looked at the fried rice in front of them and ate it with their spoons.

“Hmm?” They chewed in their mouths.

“It’s so bland.” Coco was the first to speak.

It was almost like eating plain rice.

Kang Er Zheng also thought it was too bland, it was tasteless.

“Is salt very expensive now?” Kang Bo asked.

“It’s not expensive.” Xīnzi shook her head and answered honestly.

“Then why is there no taste at all?” Kang Bo asked back.

“I put salt in.” Xīnzi said.

“Light doesn’t mean tasteless.” Kang Bo lectured.

“Just put more salt next time, the taste is still good.” Kang Er Zheng praised.

Xīnzi felt a little better when she heard Kang Er Zheng’s praise.

“The last foreign friend.” Kang Bo shouted.

They saw Diana bringing out a plate of white and green vegetable platters.

“Good evening judges, this is my cheese butter salad sauce stir-fried broccoli.” Diana presented it. “Experience the characteristics of Cantonese cuisine integrating the best of all schools and innovating.”

“Huh?” Kang Er Zheng was taken aback.

Good heavens, cheese butter and salad sauce mixed together, how can you eat that?

Coco looked at Diana’s dish and thought it looked interesting, she wanted to pick it up with her chopsticks.

Kang Er Zheng quickly pressed down on Coco’s chopsticks.

“Why?” Coco pushed Kang Er Zheng’s hand away and picked up a piece to eat.

Soon, Coco’s face changed, she spat it out.

“It’s so disgusting, what is this?” Coco quickly rinsed her mouth with saliva.

“I was holding you back, you wanted to eat it yourself.” Kang Er Zheng said lightly. “You can tell just by looking at it that it can’t be eaten, cheese butter and salad sauce mixed together, and stir-fried broccoli, it would be strange if it wasn’t disgusting.”

“No way?” Diana looked at the broccoli, which looked quite good.

“Diana, integrating the best of all schools doesn’t mean forgetting your ancestors, innovating doesn’t mean acting recklessly.” Kang Bo couldn’t even stand the taste, he didn’t want to eat it, so he lectured Diana.

Diana heard her father’s idioms.

She was happy instead, and took out her notebook to record it.

She didn’t reflect at all.

“Great, two more idioms, please say them again.” Diana said happily.

Kang Er Zheng thought Diana was too optimistic.

Her personality was also very good.

Ah Zu, this guy really found a treasure.

If she wasn’t going to be his niece-in-law, he would have wanted to intercept her.

“This broccoli must be blanched in cold water.” Kang Bo continued.

“Blanched in cold water, is that also an idiom?” Diana asked back.

“The next one is an idiom, hopeless.” Kang Bo was angry, I’m teaching you how to cook, do you think I’m teaching you idioms?

Kang Bo finished speaking and angrily walked away with his hands behind his back.

For a while, they all looked at each other.
