Chapter 39
Ayao Wants Money

“Hehe, this place will be ours from now on.” Ah Zong walked into the room, excited beyond words.

Once the demolition starts, we’ll knock down this wall and open a hardware store, closing the one on Commercial Street.

He’s renting that hardware store, and the rent is pretty high every month.

“Our bed will be in the middle, and Tianxiu’s desk will be at the foot of the bed.” Ah Zong began to plan.

Ah Chan noticed some mold on the wall.

“Zongzi, look, there’s mold.” The second sister-in-law touched the wall and found it was moldy and damp. “It’s so humid and the lighting isn’t good, even in broad daylight you need to turn on the lights.”

“Just bear with it, we’ll turn our luck around in another ten days or so.” Ah Zong comforted her.

“Alright, I’ll go back to the shop now, you take care of the heavy lifting, pretty girl.” Ah Zong didn't want to work and pushed all the work onto his second sister-in-law.

“No, you…” The second sister-in-law wanted to argue.

Ah Zong left directly.

“I can’t leave the shop unattended for long, I’m going now, bye.” He quickly left.

“You.” The second sister-in-law glared at Ah Zong who had left and could only move the things herself. “What a jerk.”

Half an hour later.

Kang Er Zheng saw that the phone in the living room wasn’t placed properly.

“I told you, why couldn’t I get through on the phone at home.” Kang Er Zheng placed the phone properly.

Ah Zong ran in hastily.

“Where’s Ah Chan?” Seeing Kang Er Zheng, Ah Zong asked immediately.

“She’s inside, I just got back too.” Kang Er Zheng pointed inside.

Ah Zong immediately ran inside.

“Something happened?” Kang Er Zheng also went in to see if anything was wrong.

“Husband, you’re back? I’ve finished moving everything, am I not amazing?” The second sister-in-law boasted when she saw Ah Zong return.

Seeing that all the furniture had been moved, Ah Zong collapsed onto the bed, feeling weak.

“It’s too late.” Ah Zong muttered to himself. “I’ve been completely played.”

“You didn’t do anything, how could you be played?” The second sister-in-law asked curiously.

“Dad, the room is stuffy, open the window.” Tianxiu jumped on the bed, feeling the heat, and asked Ah Zong to open the window.

“Open what window, you’re so annoying.” Ah Zong cursed at Tianxiu, but still reached out to open the window.

As soon as the window was opened, the heat and dust from outside rushed in.

“Cough cough cough.” Ah Zong quickly closed the window again.

“I told you not to open it.” Ah Zong complained.

“Close the window and we’ll suffocate, open it and it’ll be noisy, I don’t want to live here anymore.” The second sister-in-law also lost her temper.

“That’s easy, if it’s hot install an air conditioner, if it’s stuffy install an exhaust fan, by the way, this room is very humid, you should install a dehumidifier, otherwise you’ll get rheumatism.” Xingzi also came in and said sarcastically.

“Will you just stop it.” The second sister-in-law couldn’t take it anymore and stood up to retort.

“I really don’t understand, why wouldn’t you live in a good house and move to a broken one.” Xingzi said unhappily.

“You don’t understand? I won’t tell you, make you curious, right, husband.” The second sister-in-law was quite proud of herself.

“Say one more word and I’ll rip your mouth open.” Ah Zong roared angrily.

The sudden outburst startled the second sister-in-law.

“What are you doing?” The second sister-in-law looked at him, feeling wronged.

“Ah Zong, if you have something to say, just say it, don’t get angry.” Kang Er Zheng tried to persuade him.

Ah Zong sat uncomfortably on the bedside table.

“What’s wrong, husband?” The second sister-in-law also noticed that Ah Zong was not right.

“Ah Zong, just say whatever it is, don’t keep it bottled up inside.” Kang Er Zheng asked. “But, Ah Chan, why did you move the room here? Isn’t the other room good?”

“This…” The second sister-in-law hesitated, unsure whether to say it.

“Just say it, sigh.” Ah Zong sighed.

Ah Zong told them what happened.

“What? The demolition was a lie by Fan Shu Chang?” After Ah Zong finished speaking, Ah Chan reacted violently.

Ah Zong nodded helplessly.

“This Fan Shu Chang, I’ll go find him to settle the score.” The second sister-in-law was about to go find Fan Shu Chang to settle the score.

“Forget it, you guys should have known, what kind of person is Fan Shu Chang, you guys should know by now.” Kang Er Zheng stopped them.

After all, it was April Fool’s Day, you can only blame yourself for being fooled.

“It’s over.” The second sister-in-law also slumped onto the bed, feeling weak.

“This room is quite good, just buy an air conditioner, install an exhaust fan, and a dehumidifier, it’ll be fine.” Kang Er Zheng comforted them.

Ah Zong and Ah Chan, the couple, could only accept their fate.

Time passed quietly.

Ah Yao and his wife were busy preparing for their wedding.

One night.

Kang Er Zheng was playing chess with Kang Bo.

“Big brother, you can’t take back your move.” Kang Er Zheng was helpless watching his elder brother taking back his move.

“I made a mistake, I didn’t make the move.” Kang Bo played the fool.

Kang Er Zheng shook his head helplessly.

“Dad, uncle, playing chess?” Ah Yao walked out from the room, a little embarrassed, and sat next to them.

“Ah Yao, how is the wedding preparation going?” Kang Er Zheng asked.

“Almost done, we have a problem that’s been bothering us, so we wanted to ask Dad to make a decision.” Ah Yao looked at Kang Bo, trying to please him.

“What’s the matter?” Kang Bo didn’t lift his head, his eyes fixed on the chessboard.

“It’s like this, we’re holding it at the Abundant Harvest Villa, you know, it’s a four-star hotel, what do you think, how many tables should we book? Twelve tables or sixteen? Fourteen is not a good omen, thirteen and fifteen are odd numbers, what do you think?” Ah Yao said with a smile.

“Then book sixteen tables.” Kang Bo said casually.

“Yeah, yeah, Dad, that’s what I was thinking too.” Ah Yao was excited when he heard it, and said with a little difficulty. “It’s a good omen, double six, double happiness, it’s a good omen, but…”

“But what?” Kang Er Zheng didn’t understand Ah Yao’s intention.

“It’s a four-star hotel, two more tables would mean a lot more budget, so…” Ah Yao looked at Kang Bo, trying to please him.

Kang Er Zheng understood when he heard this.

He wants money.

Kang Er Zheng looked at Kang Bo.

Let’s see what this elder brother will do, give money or something.

“Then twelve tables.” Kang Bo didn’t take his bait at all.

“Twelve tables are too few. Think about it, I have over a dozen colleagues, and you have many old friends, you have to reserve two tables for you too. So twelve tables are not enough.” Ah Yao explained.

“Sixteen tables are too many, and twelve are too few, what do you want then?” Kang Bo passed the ball back to him.

Kang Er Zheng noticed Xingzi hiding by the entrance of the dining room.

“Yeah, talking about money is a headache.” Ah Yao said fawningly.

He didn’t say it clearly, but Kang Bo knew what he was up to.

Just came here for money, want to pluck his feathers? Forget it.

“That’s not a problem, think about it, four-star, the four sounds bad, three-star and five-star are odd numbers, which doesn’t sound good either, then choose a two-star, that way you can save a lot of money, take your mom and me on a trip to Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand.” Kang Bo directly took the initiative and used this to ask for money for himself.

Kang Er Zheng secretly thought, Big brother, you’re awesome, that’s a great move.

“Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand?!” Ah Yao was surprised when he heard Kang Bo.

Wow, Dad, you’re really ruthless.

“That, Dad, let me discuss it with Xingzi.” Ah Yao quickly left, fearing that if he went slower he would be entangled by Kang Bo.

“Humph, as soon as he lifts his butt, he wants to shit and pee, he even wants money from me.” Kang Bo said disdainfully after Ah Yao left.

“Big brother, you’re awesome.” Kang Er Zheng also gave Kang Bo a thumbs up.

“It’s nothing.” Kang Bo proudly raised his head.

“Haha, general, checkmate.” Kang Er Zheng took the piece and checkmated Kang Bo.

Kang Bo immediately snapped out of it, looking at the general that was checkmated on the board, he couldn’t do anything about it.

His proud smile vanished immediately.

“It’s all Ah Yao’s fault, he made me lose.” Kang Bo blamed Ah Yao. “Let’s play another round.”

“Sure.” Kang Er Zheng shrugged and agreed.

In the next few rounds, Kang Er Zheng went all out, slaughtering Kang Bo completely.

Kang Bo finally went back to his room to sleep in a bad mood.

Thinking to himself, if Ah Yao hadn’t disturbed him then, he would have definitely won.

He blamed Ah Yao for his loss.

If Ah Yao knew, he would have cried injustice.
