Chapter 15
The Plot Begins

Time flew by, and half a month passed.

Tomorrow is Kang Bo's birthday.

It's also the beginning of the plot.

"Tomorrow is Big Brother's birthday, what gift should I get?" Kang Er Zheng was thinking about Big Brother's birthday tomorrow and he had to get him a gift.

This time he planned to get a simple gift.

After more than two months of getting along, their relationship became much closer.

There was no need to send something too expensive.

This was also the opinion of Big Brother and his wife.

They were afraid that Kang Er Zheng would waste money again and would have no money to marry a wife in the future. The gifts he sent last time were too expensive.

They felt embarrassed to continue accepting them.

They originally told Kang Er Zheng not to send any more gifts.

But Kang Er Zheng still intended to get a simple gift.

If it was too expensive, Big Brother would definitely not accept it.

Furthermore, his identity was known to the neighbors.

At first, there was much discussion, and the buzz lasted for a while. After everyone got used to it, the discussion became even more intense.

When he met the neighbors, they would pull Kang Er Zheng aside and try to introduce him to girls.

They knew Kang Er Zheng's situation from the Kang family.

The Kang family liked to brag, and they were all eager to hear and share.

He was from Hong Kong, twenty-four years old, tall and handsome.

He graduated from Hong Kong University with a bachelor's degree and Harvard Business School with a master's degree. He was a graduate of prestigious universities.

He worked as a senior staff member in a foundation in Guangzhou.

He bought a Western Suburb mansion and had a car.

He had a mother and a sister in Hong Kong, as well as a villa.

He was currently single.

Wasn't he a perfect catch?

The heat reached its peak.

The neighbors would pull him aside to introduce their nieces and relatives to him.

He was practically going crazy and avoided them whenever he went out.

They even went to Kang Bo's place to introduce girlfriends to Kang Er Zheng.

If he hadn't said he had a girlfriend, they wouldn't have given up.

Kang Er Zheng went to the Tian Guang Market to browse.

"How much is this stone?" Kang Er Zheng saw that some stalls were selling peculiar stones.

He thought Kang Bo might like it.

He touched a few stones and picked the one with the best feel, asking, "How much is this one?"

"Five hundred." The stall owner stretched out a hand.

"How much? Five hundred? Boss, are you taking me for a fool?" Kang Er Zheng complained.

A stone was worth five hundred? That was ridiculous.

"You didn't get this stone from Tian He, did you? Why are you asking for five hundred?" Kang Er Zheng said, irritated. "If it was a jade rough, it would be worth something, but this is just a regular stone."

"Young man, how could I pick this up from Tian He? I bought it, it cost me hundreds," the boss said, feeling guilty.

These stones were indeed picked up from Tian He.

They were excavating a lot of stones in Tian He for construction.

He went there to buy them.

He bribed the gatekeeper with a pack of cigarettes, drove in with a tricycle, picked a bunch of stones and sold them.

It was practically a business with no cost.

"I don't care where it came from, give me an honest price," Kang Er Zheng didn't point it out.

"At least four hundred," the boss lowered the price by one hundred.

"Fifty," Kang Er Zheng directly slashed the price by a large amount.

"Young man, this is a peculiar stone, if someone likes it, it could even be worth a thousand, you are asking for fifty, that's too low," the boss said excitedly. "I'll lower it by fifty for you, three hundred and fifty."

"Sixty," Kang Er Zheng added ten more dollars.

Finally, after some bargaining, they agreed on a price of one hundred.

"Alright, you're a good kid, so it's one hundred. You sure know how to bargain," the boss sighed.

"Pack it up then," Kang Er Zheng took out a hundred and handed it to the boss.

The boss packed the stone into a box and gave it to Kang Er Zheng.

The stone was an irregular triangle, yellow and purple, the size of an adult's hand.

"Big Brother will like it," Kang Er Zheng held the stone and weighed it. It was two or three pounds.

Kang's house.

"Big Brother, Big Sister, I'm back," Kang Er Zheng entered carrying a gift box.

"Ah Zheng, you're back," the mother walked out.

"Where's Big Brother?" Kang Er Zheng asked.

"He went out to buy things," the mother said.

"Oh. Haven't Ah Guang and the others come back yet?" Kang Er Zheng asked.

It was already five o'clock, almost six.

They worked from nine to five.

Except for Big Brother Guang, everyone else got off work at five o'clock.

At this time, they should have almost all come back.

"I'm back," just as they were talking, they heard Kang Bo coming back with a black plastic bag.

"Big Brother, you're back," Kang Er Zheng called out.

"Ah Zheng, you're back. Just in time, I bought something good," Kang Bo opened the black plastic bag in his hand.

Kang Er Zheng stretched his neck to look.

"They're lively and kicking," Kang Bo said happily.

"Shrimp! We're having shrimp tonight," Kang Er Zheng was surprised. "Big Brother, are you willing to spend?"

Shrimp wasn't cheap nowadays.

Big Brother was actually willing to buy shrimp.

"Such nice shrimp, old man, shrimp is expensive now, are you willing to buy them?" The mother was also surprised.

"It's my birthday tomorrow, my sons are going to hold a birthday party for me in the teahouse tomorrow, so I have to spend some money today to respond to my sons, right?" Kang Bo said with a happy smile.

A few days ago, Kang's brothers discussed holding a sixty-fifth birthday party for their father and invited relatives and friends to celebrate.

Kang Er Zheng didn't need to pay.

After all, he was a younger brother, not a son.

"Big Brother, I'm so envious that you have so many good sons," Kang Er Zheng said with a smile.

"It's not easy to raise these sons," the mother said kindly.

"That's right, I've taught them well," Kang Bo said proudly.

Kang Er Zheng shook his head, Big Brother couldn't be praised. He would easily become arrogant.

"But why are they so late today? Ah Guang and the others haven't come back yet?" Kang Er Zheng looked at his watch. "They usually arrive home around this time."

"Yeah," Kang Bo was also puzzled. "I'll call and ask."

Kang Bo picked up the phone in the living room and dialed.

"Ah Yao isn't in the office," Kang Bo put down the phone.

"He's probably on his way back," the mother said. "What about Ah Zong?"

"Ah Zong is still at the store, he said there's business," Kang Bo shook his head. "He'll be back later."

"What about Ah Guang?" The mother asked again.

"He should be on his way back," Kang Bo shook his head.

Ah Zong had a mobile phone, after all, he was in business.

Ah Yao also had one, he needed to answer his superiors' calls in order to make progress.

Ah Zu didn't have a mobile phone, he only had a pager.

Big Brother Guang didn't have anything.

"Right, did you page Ah Zu?" Kang Bo asked.

"I did, he just called back and said he was getting a haircut," Kang Er Zheng replied.

"Then let's wait a little longer," Kang Bo said helplessly.

"Alright, I made some water chestnut cake, eat some to fill your stomach first," the mother walked in and brought out a plate of water chestnut cake.

"Sister-in-law, did you make this?" He looked at the beautiful water chestnut cake and asked.

"Yes," the mother nodded with a smile.

"Yeah, not bad, it's delicious," Kang Er Zheng gave a thumbs up.

"Call Tian Xiu out to eat some. He's doing his homework inside," the mother said.

"Tian Xiu, Tian Xiu," Kang Bo called out to the inside.

The mischievous Tian Xiu walked out.

Tian Xiu was the cutest at this age.

When he grew up a little, he would become a bit of a troublemaker.

"Grandpa, what do you want me for?" Tian Xiu asked curiously.

"Eat some water chestnut cake, your grandma made it," Kang Bo took a piece of water chestnut cake for Tian Xiu.

"Thank you, Grandpa and Grandma," Tian Xiu took it and thanked them before eating the water chestnut cake.

Seeing Tian Xiu eat happily, Kang Bo and the mother were very happy.

This was their favorite grandson.

"Sigh," Kang Bo sighed, looking at Tian Xiu.

"Big Brother, why are you sighing? Tian Xiu is adorable, what's wrong?" Kang Er Zheng saw Kang Bo sighing.

"I have four sons, but only one is married, and he even got his wife pregnant before marriage. But it's good, he gave me a grandson. The other sons are still single, it's making me very worried. Especially Ah Guang, he's already forty, what if he doesn't get married?" Kang Bo expressed his worry.

"That's true," Kang Er Zheng understood that it was normal for parents to worry about their children's marriage.

"And Ah Yao, he's over thirty, he should start a family," Kang Bo continued.

"The one I'm most worried about is Ah Zu, he falls in love with anyone he sees, I don't know how many girlfriends he's had, he's already changed girlfriends twice this month," Kang Bo said, his worry increasing when he talked about Ah Zu.

"Don't worry, Big Brother, Ah Guang and the others will figure it out themselves," Kang Er Zheng comforted him.

Ah Guang and Ah Yao both had girlfriends already.

They were in a secret relationship.

As for Ah Zu.

He was still young, no rush.
