Chapter Fifty-Three: Pikachu vs. Onix
(This chapter was missed, I sincerely apologize for the impact on everyone’s viewing!!)
“Keep attacking, catch it!!” Despite the missed hit, Brock didn’t lose heart and continued to command Onix to launch a fierce assault.
Onix charged towards Pikachu, its massive body twisting in the rocky terrain, crashing into the surrounding rocks, which couldn’t withstand Onix’s power and were shattered to pieces.
“Pikachu, use Quick Attack!”
Ash wasn’t worried; although Onix had enough strength, it was still a bit slow, and the arena was spacious enough. He immediately gave Pikachu a firm command.
Upon hearing the command, Pikachu sprang into action, moving rapidly back and forth. Its speed was so fast that it seemed like several Pikachus appeared on the battlefield.
Onix was momentarily unable to track Pikachu’s movements, and seeing this, Brock frowned slightly.
While he wasn’t concerned about Pikachu causing any damage to Onix, the inability to catch it would greatly deplete its stamina. Although Onix was huge and had tremendous defensive and destructive power, it also consumed a lot of energy.
“I see, this Pikachu is quite agile! How about this? Onix, use Rock Tomb.”
Noticing Pikachu’s impressive speed, Brock recognized the issue and refrained from blind attacks. He initially wanted Onix to catch Pikachu and end the battle in one blow, but now it seemed he had to first restrict its movements.
Upon hearing the command, Ash didn’t frown; he watched as Onix halted its movements and raised its head to roar at the sky.
Roar!!!!
A faint glow emanated from Onix, and then many large rocks appeared out of thin air, crashing down from above.
Bang bang bang bang!!!
The rocks fell continuously, crashing chaotically onto the battlefield. Pikachu could only dodge with all its might, but the area covered by the Rock Tomb was too vast, significantly reducing Pikachu's space to move.
Bang!!
Pika!!!!
One of the rocks fell and struck the ground beside Pikachu, the impact spreading out and hitting Pikachu, sending it flying to the ground.
“Ah!!!” Misty stood up nervously, watching the battlefield. The rock-type move wasn’t as damaging to Pikachu as a ground-type move, but Pikachu wasn’t as resilient as Onix.
“Pikachu, are you okay??” Ash looked at the downed Pikachu, not worried. His Pikachu was not so easily defeated, and he could see clearly that the previous hit hadn’t truly landed; it was just the shockwave.
Pika... Pika!!
Upon hearing Ash’s voice, Pikachu propped itself up, shook its head, and resumed its battle stance.
Seeing this, Ash smiled while his gaze turned serious as he looked at Brock and Onix.
He was truly in this world now; reality proved that it was different from anime and games. Games and anime updated with new content over time, but this world was different.
In the early stages of Pokémon, skills and various aspects were not mature, and many things were gradually added with the release of other works, including the skills and moves used by Pokémon.
The Rock Tomb move only appeared in the third generation of the Pokémon series, but the real world wouldn’t follow such a timeline.
This meant that in his future battles, he couldn’t just look at the timeline but also had to guard against new elements from other generations.
However, he only knew about the later works up to the Unova region; he didn’t have time to catch up on what came after before arriving in this world, so he had to be cautious in future battles.
“You can still stand up? No matter, as long as you lose your space to move, your Pikachu is done for. Onix, use Rock Tomb!”
Seeing that Pikachu could still fight, Brock praised it but didn’t let his guard down, issuing another command to Onix.
Onix let out another roar, and the rocks reappeared in the air. The arena was spacious enough, but there were already some rocks, and the previous Rock Tomb had made the area much narrower.
If they used it again, the entire arena would become extremely cramped, and Pikachu’s pride in its speed would be completely stifled.
Ash looked up at the rocks floating in the air and then noticed the ceiling above, his expression suddenly changing...
“Go, Onix!!!” Brock shouted, and Onix let out a deep roar as the rocks suddenly began to fall from above.
“Pikachu! Use Quick Attack to ride the Rock Tomb!!”
At that moment, Ash also issued a command. Everyone paused at Ash’s order, but Pikachu showed no hesitation.
Pikachu!!!
Pikachu released a silver flash and leaped into the air. As the Rock Tomb fell, it jumped high, landing on one of the rocks, and then quickly jumped to another rock using the speed of Quick Attack.
“What! It’s actually dodging the Rock Tomb like this!!” Shock appeared on Brock’s face. The area beneath the Rock Tomb was very dangerous, but indeed, above the rocks was absolutely safe.
Thus, Pikachu used Onix’s Rock Tomb as a springboard, moving closer and closer to Onix. With Pikachu’s speed, it quickly reached above Onix.
At the moment all the rocks fell, Pikachu jumped high off the last rock, its body blocking the light from above. Brock also looked up at the sky.
“Pikachu, use Iron Tail!!!”
Pika~~~chu!!!!
Upon hearing the command, Pikachu immediately swung its body in the air. Ash’s eyes glinted with a hint of red; at that moment, his consciousness seemed to connect with Pikachu.
“So it also has Iron Tail hidden! But it won’t be so easy to deal with my Onix. Onix, use Iron Tail to counter!” Brock was clearly prepared; he knew Ash wouldn’t send out Pikachu without a reason.
Since electric-type moves wouldn’t work, there must be another move that could harm Onix.
“Who said the target was Onix?” Ash’s eyes sharpened, and a confident smile appeared on his face.
