Chapter 5
The Disappearance

Chapter 5: Missing

(Fifth update!! New book seeking collections!)

“Yes!!”

The staff members responded immediately after hearing this and then began to prepare to escape with the children. Several staff members pulled out Poké Balls.

“Everyone, leave this to us uncles. You follow Professor Oak to the camp first.” The staff members shouted at the children, holding Poké Balls.

Two staff members protected the children and Professor Oak as they ran from the front road below. Seeing this, the Pidgey in the air immediately swooped down.

Bang Bang!!!

Two flames came from behind, forcing the Pidgey to disperse and dodge. In front of the two staff members at the back stood a canine Pokémon, its body base color orange, its muzzle and abdomen a creamy yellow, with black vertical stripes, and dense mane on its head and neck.

Growlithe, a good companion for humans and trainers, is not only raised by ordinary families, but is also vigorously cultivated by the police in this world.

Just in case, the staff members brought Pokémon, all of which were raised in Professor Oak's research institute.

“Now, everyone follow me closely!” Looking at the road that opened up in front of them, Professor Oak also shouted to the children.

He took the lead, instructing the children to follow him, with two staff members protecting them on either side. However, some children couldn’t help but cry, panicking and fleeing.

Satoshi was at the back, watching the surrounding Pidgey. He couldn't help but complain in his heart, as expected, wherever the protagonist goes, something happens.

He couldn't remember how many times Satoshi had encountered Pidgey and Beedrill in the anime.

But he couldn't do anything now, after all, he wasn't a trainer yet. Actually, Satoshi thought that a trainer didn't necessarily have to be 10 years old, it was just that 10 years old was considered qualified, similar to a coming-of-age ceremony.

However, in Satoshi's current situation, with the soul of an adult, he could have fought if he had a Pokémon, but he didn’t have a Pokémon yet, so he could only run.

After the Pidgey were driven away by the Growlithe's attacks, they didn’t give up.

They were a kind of Pokémon that absolutely would not let go of those who intruded into their territory, unless they were defeated. Otherwise, they would chase in large numbers.

Some Pidgey immediately turned around and chased after the fleeing group, while others surrounded and attacked the staff members who were attacking them, preventing them from providing support.

Pidgey are a group-living Pokémon, they are very good at team combat, and you could even say they have a tactic.

“The situation is not good, quickly resolve this!” The staff members said immediately, if something happened to the children, it would be a big problem.

“Yes!”

On the other side, Satoshi followed Professor Oak and the children as they fled, but he found that the Pidgey were in hot pursuit. How could humans outrun Pidgey? The Pidgey caught up unknowingly and circled above everyone.

Gaga!!!

The Pidgey immediately launched an attack. Many children covered their heads and cried out in fear. The two staff members also released their Growlithe and started to attack.

“Children, come to us!”

Hearing the sound, the children immediately gathered around the two staff members and Professor Oak, directly surrounding the three of them, making it impossible for Professor Oak and the two staff members to move.

They could only protect the children with one hand and issue attack commands to the Growlithe with the other, and then, while the Growlithe was attacking, they created space and continued to retreat with the children.

After much tossing and turning, they entered a dense forest. Finally, the Pidgey stopped chasing, because although the Pidgey's presence could be felt in the forest, it was unfavorable for them to fly in a dense forest.

In addition to the threat of Growlithe, they did not dare to pursue any further. They had finally escaped, and Professor Oak quickly signaled to take the children to the campsite.

Twenty minutes later

They finally reached the campsite with the children. Professor Oak and the others breathed a sigh of relief, while the children were exhausted, although some were still crying.

However, the children in this world are indeed more adaptable to this situation than the children in Satoshi's previous life. Under the staff’s comfort, their emotions gradually calmed down.

“Professor!” At this time, several figures ran over from the woods. They were the staff members who were responsible for intercepting most of the Pidgey, they all looked a bit disheveled, but they were all fine.

“Everyone is alright, are you guys alright?”

“We’re alright, how are the children?” The staff members asked worriedly. After all, it was their negligence, they didn’t investigate carefully enough before.

Pidgey are a Pokémon with a strong sense of territory and are tyrannical. They don’t have a fixed territory, and they also like to fight over other Pokémon’s territory.

If they think another Pokémon’s territory is better, they will immediately seize it by force. After the resources in that area are exhausted, they will immediately look for another territory. Therefore, they live a migratory lifestyle, which should have been considered long ago.

“Everyone is alright, don’t worry!”

“Grandpa!!! Sa… Satoshi is missing!!” A cry rang out.

The one who would call Professor Oak Grandpa here was naturally Shigeru. Unlike the other children who were scared to tears, Shigeru, after coming to his senses, saw that all the other children were crying. He instinctively wanted to see if Satoshi was crying so he could make fun of him.

But after looking carefully, he realized that Satoshi wasn’t in the group at all. He immediately cried out in worry.

So, it is true that those who truly bother you are those who truly care about you. Although they often tease and argue, when Satoshi was truly absent, he worried more than anyone else.

“What?? Everyone, quickly check if there are any other children who are missing.” Professor Oak was startled when he heard this, and immediately shouted to the staff members.

Professor Oak was still calm. He didn’t panic just because Satoshi was missing. He first needed to confirm if there were any other children who were lost. The situation was too chaotic during the Pidgey attack, so it was impossible to confirm.

“Yes!” The staff members responded immediately and began to take roll call to confirm if anyone else was missing. Soon, the staff members’ faces changed.
