Chapter 42: The Attack of the Beedrills

(First update!! New book seeking collections and flowers! Thanks to "Happy Book Chaser" for the reward, much appreciated!)

The entire head of the Arbok was quickly wrapped up, looking just like a mummy. Having lost its sight, the Arbok panicked and darted around aimlessly.

Bang!!!

In a moment of distraction, it collided with something. Seeing this scene, Ash seized the opportunity.

“Pikachu, use Thunderbolt!!”

“Pika~~~chu!!!” After dodging the sludge attack from the Weezing, Pikachu leaped up, and a massive surge of electricity erupted from both sides of its cheeks.

The Arbok collided with the Weezing, and as they touched, the Thunderbolt released a high-voltage electric snake, striking the Arbok while also conducting electricity to the Weezing.

Both Pokémon let out garbled cries of agony.

Bang!!!

The electricity intensified, quickly leading to an explosion. The Arbok and Weezing were blasted into the air, charred and emitting smoke as they flew towards Musashi and Kojiro, knocking both of them to the ground.

“What are you two doing? You're completely useless!” The two, now on the ground, expressed their dissatisfaction.

In their first encounter, they thought they had underestimated this little brat, but now it seemed that this little brat was indeed not to be trifled with.

“In that case, I’ll leave it to Meowth!” Meowth, seeing its incompetent companions, shook its head helplessly and turned around, ready to fight.

However, just as it turned, it saw Ash squinting with a strange smile, causing Meowth to feel a chill run down its spine, a wave of coldness washing over it.

Unconsciously recalling what Ash had said earlier at the Pokémon Center in Pewter City, Meowth gulped nervously, suddenly too scared to advance.

Buzz buzz buzz!!!

Just at that moment, a sudden noise rang in everyone's ears, and upon hearing it, the members of Team Rocket trembled all over.

“Damn little brat, you won't be so lucky next time. We'll let you go this time!” With no other choice and realizing they were outmatched, they quickly recalled the Arbok and Weezing, taking Meowth with them as they fled.

“What are those two up to?” Misty couldn't help but comment as she watched them.

“Something's coming!” The Samurai Boy seemed to sense something, and he was all too familiar with that sound. Ash furrowed his brows.

Buzz buzz buzz buzz buzz!!!!

The sound grew closer, and soon countless figures burst forth from the woods, their glaring stingers and net-like wings producing an irritating buzzing sound, with crimson eyes locking onto everyone—it was a swarm of Beedrills.

“As expected, it's a swarm of Beedrills, and there are even more than before.” The Samurai Boy looked on in panic; having lived in the forest, he often encountered such situations.

However, he was always particularly cautious because a swarm of Beedrills was extremely dangerous in the forest. Even some powerful Pokémon would fear them due to their overwhelming numbers; no matter how strong you were, you couldn't withstand such a horde.

“It must be those two from Team Rocket who stirred them up. What should Ash do now?” Realizing the situation with Team Rocket, he understood what was happening.

It was unfortunate that those two, even in such a situation, still acted as if nothing was wrong while trying to steal Ash's Pikachu, and now they had just run away, leaving the Beedrills looking furious.

“They're coming! Quickly, get inside my house to hide!” The Samurai Boy quickly urged Ash and Misty as he assessed the situation.

Ash glanced at the nearby small cabin. To be honest, it was hard to say whether this little cabin could withstand the wrath of the furious Beedrills, but at least it provided some cover. In a direct fight, the enemy's numbers were simply too overwhelming.

Thinking this, he took out a Poké Ball, preparing to recall his Kakuna. In this situation, a one-on-one battle wouldn't work; Kakuna couldn't handle it.

Buzz buzz buzz!!!

At that moment, the leading Beedrills charged down. Once angered, Beedrills didn't care who provoked them; they would attack anyone they saw.

“Pika!!”

Pikachu and Kakuna stood in front of Ash. Pikachu reacted quickly, instinctively jumping aside. After dodging the first Beedrill, it charged forward with astonishing speed, diving towards the Kakuna.

It grabbed the Kakuna and took off into the sky. Seeing this, Ash frowned, a flash of anger crossing his eyes.

“Put my Kakuna down!”

“Pidgeotto, use Quick Attack to bring it down.” Angered, Ash didn't bother to dodge and threw a Poké Ball into the air. Pidgeotto let out a cry and soared out.

It immediately emitted a silver flash, and with its already fast speed, it quickly caught up to the Beedrill, crashing directly into its back.

The Beedrill, feeling pain, lost its balance and loosened its grip, causing the Kakuna to plummet from the sky. Pidgeotto couldn't catch up in time, and Ash immediately ran over.

“Ash!” Misty shouted in worry.

Ash seemed not to hear, leaping high into the air. In an instant, he was possessed by the power of Blaziken. Although it wasn't as exaggerated as jumping three stories high, it was still far superior to any high jumper from his previous life.

He caught the falling Kakuna, landing safely while shielding it from the fall. Seeing Ash successfully save the Kakuna, Misty let out a sigh of relief, but at that moment, the Samurai Boy shouted in panic, “Danger!!”

All the Beedrills had turned their attention to Ash due to his attack, charging towards him instead of Misty and the Samurai Boy.

“Pika~~~chu!!!!”

Seeing this, Pikachu didn't wait for Ash's command and took the initiative to attack, releasing electricity that swept through the air and struck several Beedrills. It managed to block a few, but after all, it was only a low-level Thunderbolt, lacking the power and range needed.

“Ash!!!” Misty shouted in alarm.

Ash turned to look, frowning as he saw Pidgeotto circling back. Although it was fast, it wouldn't make it in time.

“Buzzy!!!!”

Just then, from the other side of the woods, a sudden cry rang out, and a swarm of golden-glowing stars shot out from the thicket.

Bang bang bang bang!!!!

They struck several Beedrills in the front row, instantly causing explosions and filling the air with black smoke. Ash was caught in the blast and fell from the sky, but thanks to his years of training, he managed to land safely, holding the Kakuna protectively against the ground.
