Chapter 1: Westward Toss
(New book uploaded, please collect!)
“The Pokémon world! It's been so long since I last watched it.”
Inside a warm and cozy house, a variety of strange creature plush toys and figurines were displayed, all with a common name: Pokémon. They were once a worldwide craze, bringing joy to the childhoods of many children and even young adults.
But all this was nothing more than fantasy, born from the imagination of a bug-catching boy named Satoshi Tajiri, the father of Pokémon.
However, right now, he was truly and undeniably in this world, a world where he could only be accompanied by Pokémon in games and anime.
And now, he was genuinely in this world, unable to believe it, and even more unable to believe that he had become the protagonist of the anime, the one cherished by countless Pokémon fans in their childhood.
The Pokémon series' protagonist, named after its father: Satoshi!
For Satoshi, before coming to this world, he was also deeply fond of this world during his childhood. Even then, with black-and-white screens and rough graphics, he wished he could become a trainer in the game console.
He continued to love it as he grew up. As technology advanced, the gameplay became more varied and the animation style improved, but sadly, Satoshi grew increasingly distant from them.
Apart from growing up, having less time, it was also because as he slowly matured, he began to realize that both the games and the manga were becoming tools of capital.
Young people growing up with nostalgia for the Pokémon games were met with the arrogance of capital, causing more and more people who still retained their affection to gradually let go of that childhood memory. Satoshi, in his current form, was one of them.
Even his current body was the same, burdened with various labels: “The Release Master,” “The Level Resetter,” “The Fool,” “The Perennial Second Place,” and “The Low EQ.”
Satoshi's previous life wasn't driven away by capital but by these insults. He knew there was no point in defending himself.
Furthermore, the pressure of real life was huge, everyone wanted to find some space to vent, looking at their distorted childhood memories, it was only natural to feel frustrated and irritable.
But what good would it do to just keep cursing? Nothing would change. He wasn't willing to watch his beloved childhood memories be cursed, so he slowly drifted away from the things he loved.
Actually, upon closer thought, what was wrong with the character? They were merely created by someone, then operated by capital.
Take the “Perennial Second Place” label, for example. Many times, he wasn't even considered the second place. But if he had become the world champion right from the start, how would capital use him to profit?
He had actually been so frustrated with the plot that he had hated it. He had cursed at how those plots insulted the audience's intelligence. But as he entered society, he gradually understood. It was those who treated the audience as fools, those capitalists and scriptwriters, who should be blamed.
He never imagined that he would become Satoshi, that he would turn into the very thing he hated?
No, he was Satoshi now, unconstrained by anyone. He had come to this new world and he would live as the Satoshi of his heart. After all, he had no ties to his past life. Since he was here, he would make the most of it.
However, the current Satoshi was not the 10-year-old from the anime. According to the memories of this body, he was only 7 years old.
He had loved his childhood days, but he didn't know the specifics of Satoshi's childhood experiences.
His Pokémon memories stopped at the fifth generation. He didn't know much about the later plots. He was more familiar with the Mega Evolution of the sixth generation plot.
It was a new type of evolution, different from the Pokémon evolution system, similar to the Digimon next door. After evolving, it would revert to its original state after the battle ended.
It was the main promotional point for the fifth generation, attracting the attention of many Pokémon fans who had already quit. Satoshi was one of them, but he didn't have time to watch it before he came to this world.
“Forget it, don't think too much about it. Just treat it as a surprise for the future!”
He stretched in bed. Regardless of the plot, he had already forgotten most of the previous plots. Besides, different souls, even if they lived through the same time period, wouldn't necessarily experience the same events.
“Satoshi! When are you going to sleep until? If you don't get up, you'll miss Professor Oak's summer camp!”
“Okay, okay, I'm coming!”
He had just woken up. According to the memories of this body, he had recently signed up for a summer camp organized by Professor Oak.
Professor Oak was a renowned Pokémon researcher in this world, an authority in the field. He organized and collected data to create the Pokédex, which became the primary tool for trainers in this world.
Later, the Pokédex was widely used by trainers in various regions. He was an excellent trainer in his youth, but he later gave up his training career to pursue research.
He was also responsible for guiding new trainers, establishing a Pokémon Research Lab in Pallet Town in the Kanto region. He would give each 10-year-old new trainer a starter Pokémon, helping them embark on their journey to become top trainers.
This time, he had specially organized a summer camp focused on outdoor, close-up contact with Pokémon. He would bring children under the age of 10 on a week-long outdoor summer camp.
There were countless children who signed up. Many children were ardent Pokémon enthusiasts, dreaming of becoming trainers at the age of 10. They all wanted to have early contact with Pokémon.
As a fervent Pokémon fan, Satoshi naturally signed up. Today was the day the summer camp was gathering.
He got out of bed, changed his clothes, grabbed his prepared backpack, and went downstairs.
He saw his mother, a mother he had only seen in anime. Although she was the mother of a 7-year-old, her face had no signs of aging.
Like most mothers, Hanako, as a mother, was often worried about her child. Because the Satoshi in the manga was a careless and clumsy kid, like most mothers, she was talkative.
But she was also the most gentle person. Every time Satoshi wanted to leave, she would meticulously prepare everything for him. She would even stay up late to make clothes for him.
But when Satoshi did something dangerous, she would still scold him sternly, taking on the role of a strict parent.
She was both gentle and strict, playing two different roles. Perhaps because there was no father figure in the family, Hanako played both roles in life.
PS: It has been several years since the last Pokémon novel. Many people have continuously left messages asking me to write another one. The Pearl and Diamond remakes and the new Pokémon Legends: Arceus game are coming out, so I'm starting a new book. I hope there are really that many people looking forward to it.
