Chapter 8
The Man Who Chases His Dreams

“Oh my god, Susan, look, I’m actually on the screen!!”

Seeing himself appear on the screen, looking handsome and cool, Johnny excitedly jumped off the couch, shouting to his sister: “It seems like your little brother is going to be famous this time.”

“Johnny, I have to warn you.”

Susan rolled her eyes and replied, her tone full of displeasure: “I don’t care how you play, but absolutely no bringing those girls home, got it?”

“Oh, and remember, you have to be back before twelve, otherwise, don’t blame me for telling mom and dad!”

“Oh no!!”

Upon hearing this, Johnny’s excited expression immediately fell: “What’s the fun in that?”

He slumped back onto the couch, looking like the world had ended.

Seeing this, Susan couldn’t help but chuckle, but when she looked at Johnny on the screen, his face serious, the smile on her face disappeared instantly, replaced by deep worry.

Because the Johnny Stone on the screen was completely different from the brother she knew. The stark contrast made him feel strange.

She was also concerned, worried about what kind of change would have happened in the future to make her lively and cheerful brother become so calm and serious.

...

【“Ah, it still doesn’t work…...”

Red sighed and turned his head to face the sunglasses-wearing officer who had stopped him.

“Doesn’t work?”

Johnny Stone looked Red up and down, his gaze scrutinizing, and asked in an unfriendly tone: “What do you mean by that?”

“Ah! Nothing, just some mumbling to myself.”

Red didn’t dare to tell the police that he wanted to sneak into the ruins, so he immediately changed the subject and stated his purpose for being there.

“Actually, I was called by Dr. Stacy from New York State University. She’s a freelance translator for the archaeological team, and last night, while decoding ancient texts in the ruins, she translated some ominous words.”

“Out of safety concerns, she asked me to come to the ruins and inform the members of the archaeological team to be careful.”

“Ominous words?”

“Yes, a warning of death!”

Although Red appeared to be full of conviction, Johnny Stone didn’t completely believe his words.

Therefore, he quickly asked again: “So are you a member of the archaeological team?”

“No, I just happened to have some free time, so I came here to give Dr. Stacy a heads-up.” Red shook his head, then took out a business card from his pocket and handed it over: “Here’s my card.”

Johnny Stone took the card, glanced at the contents on it.

Immediately, he twitched his mouth.

“A Man Chasing Dreams – Red?”

“Indeed!”

Red smiled and nodded, then gave the police officers in front of him a thumbs-up.

“......”

Facing the thumbs-up, Johnny Stone fell silent, and after a long while, he suppressed his desire to make a sarcastic remark and continued to speak.

“John, take this guy to the police car and detain him.”

“Yes, sir!”

Officer John, who had been watching the scene, suppressed a chuckle and took on the task. He then stepped forward and grabbed Red’s arm: “Let’s go for a walk, Mr. Red, the man chasing dreams!”

He didn’t even wait for Red to react, and directly dragged him towards the direction where the police car was parked at the foot of the mountain.

“Ah? Ah!! Wait a minute, who is that!???”

The ruins were within reach, and Red didn’t want to be dragged away like this. In a moment of desperation, he pointed to the sky above the ruins and shouted, then, while John’s attention was diverted, he quickly broke free from his grasp and dashed towards the entrance of the nearby ruins.

However, these little tricks clearly did not fool Johnny Stone.

Seeing Red trying to force his way into the ruins, he stood directly in front of the entrance, saying in a deep voice.

“Stop right there!”

But the ruins were right in front of him, and Red didn’t care about these warnings, so he directly crossed his arm and continued to rush forward.

Seeing this, Johnny Stone didn’t hesitate any longer. He immediately reached out and tripped Red at his feet, causing him to lose his balance and fall towards the stairs to the side.

And there, just happened to be an archaeological instrument scattered on the ground, with its sharpest angle facing directly at his head.

If they really collided, Red’s head would probably be split open.

Fortunately, at this moment of crisis, Johnny Stone reacted in time and grabbed Red’s collar, stabilizing his tilted body before using force to pull him back up.

On the other side, Red, who had narrowly escaped death, hurriedly wiped away the cold sweat on his forehead, then turned to face the police officer who had saved him, expressing his gratitude with a mixture of embarrassment and apology.

“Th...thank you, officer.”】
