Chapter 31
Has He Always Been This Brave?

Was this guy always like this?

Looking at Rod's Adam's apple and his imposing, muscular body.

Emma suddenly felt her throat dry.

A wild thought flashed through her mind.

She wanted to be pinned down by this beast-like strong man in the most brutal way.

To have such thoughts about an ex-boyfriend right after a breakup.

She knew it was strange, but she couldn't help but think about it.

Every cell in her body radiated a desire to get closer.

This feeling was just as nerve-wracking as when she first started dating a guy.

What a madness!

How could she have broken up with someone like him?

“How have you been? I mean, since we broke up. Have you missed me... um, you’ve changed a lot.”

Watching Emma fumble nervously and ramble on.

Rod shook his head helplessly.

He reached out to touch Emma's delicate face.

“No, we’ve broken up... Buck might misunderstand if he sees us.”

Emma said the words of rejection, but her body reacted honestly.

She slightly tilted her head, like a cat meeting its owner, bringing her face closer to Rod's hand.

Her anxious gaze darted around, afraid of being discovered by others.

Seeing her sneaky expression, Rod couldn't help but chuckle.

He brushed a strand of hair behind Emma's ear.

“Even though we broke up, I’m still your friend.”

“Isn't that what you said?”

Rod smiled faintly.

As the saying goes, friends are still friends.

It wasn't wrong to call them friends.

Emma licked her lips, her gaze sultry as if it could drip with water.

Clearly, she was also reminded of what she said when they broke up.

“Emma!”

Suddenly, a surprised and angry voice came from behind.

Rod squinted and looked in the direction of the voice.

A chubby white guy was glaring at him with an angry expression.

Standing at six feet three inches tall and weighing at least three hundred pounds.

Buck!

His father was the owner of a large corporation, with hundreds of large chain supermarkets under his name, worth billions.

He was also Rod's rival.

“Your boyfriend is here, I’ll take my leave.”

Facing those furious eyes, Rod wore a nonchalant smile.

As he left, he casually patted Emma's curvy backside.

Though it was through tight jeans, the familiar sensation was still there.

“You jerk, what are you doing!”

Emma exclaimed, her face flushing.

She had been with Rod for a few years; they had shared everything, even more intimate things.

This level of intimacy was nothing to her.

But now, her new boyfriend was right there!

How dare this guy be so bold?

“Sorry, I’m just used to it.”

Rod rubbed his fingers in front of Buck, as if savoring the touch from just now.

“Don’t worry, Emma and I have broken up; we were just chatting casually.”

“You wouldn’t mind, would you?”

Buck's face darkened; this guy was flirting with his girlfriend right in front of him, did he think he didn’t exist?

Though he didn’t care about Emma's past.

It didn’t mean he could tolerate another man humiliating his girlfriend in front of him.

“I’m going to shove your head up your ass!”

“Make you kneel and repent to God!”

Buck clenched his fists and charged at Rod like a human tank.

Don’t be fooled by his three hundred pounds; he was a key player on the school’s football team.

Football is a brutal sport that demands high levels of strength and physique, requiring hundreds of collisions in a single game.

The physicality and strength required for this team were extremely high.

So beneath all that fat, he was packed with powerful muscles.

He didn’t take the guy in front of him seriously at all.

“Buck!”

When Emma saw Buck charging at Rod, her expression changed.

One was her ex-boyfriend, the other her current boyfriend.

One had deep feelings, the other was her ATM; she didn’t want these two to fight.

Moreover, Buck was a key player on the football team.

If these two fought, Rod would at least end up in the hospital for a few days.

Though Buck was her current boyfriend.

In terms of emotions, after years of interaction and deep communication, she naturally leaned more towards Rod, worried he would get hurt.

Bang!

A dull thud echoed.

Just moments ago, Buck was charging fiercely, but now his eyes rolled back as he fell straight to the ground.

Emma covered her mouth, her face full of shock.

What just happened?

“Has he always been this brave?”

Rod slightly lifted his right foot, looking at the unconscious Buck with a puzzled expression.

How did this guy dare to challenge him head-on?

Did he think he was a werewolf, daring to confront him directly?

Even if he wasn’t, it wouldn’t matter.

He had killed more than one or two werewolves.

Normal people should understand the seriousness of the situation when they saw his muscles, right?

How could he not understand?

Truly a self-righteous descendant of the lighthouse clan.

“Is Buck okay?”

Seeing Buck lying unconscious, Emma jogged over, full of concern.

“He should be fine.”

Rod replied uncertainly.

Though he hadn’t used much force in that kick.

If this guy was weak, it was possible he could break a few bones or have some internal injuries.

The chance of death was small, but the risk and possibility were not nonexistent.
