Chapter 22
The Haunted House!

“I'll go back for a bit.”

It had been two and a half days since he entered the temporal gate.

His supplies were still plentiful.

But, he had been missing from reality for too long. Something might have gone wrong.

Finding a deserted place, Rhode opened the temporal gate.

Swish!

The temporal gate appeared, and Rhode stepped right through.

His vision flickered, and he found himself back in his familiar room.

Rhode leaned back, falling flat onto the bed.

“My own home is definitely the most comfortable.”

After a short nap, Rhode went to the kitchen and fried two steaks.

He was about to rest after eating his fill.

Suddenly, someone knocked on the door.

“Who is it?”

He squinted at the slightly dimming sky outside.

Who would come to see him at this time?

He opened the door, and three figures came into view.

Rhode looked at the middle-aged couple and a young girl who appeared to be no older than seven.

The middle-aged couple looked to be in their late thirties to early forties.

The little girl, dressed in a cute white dress, was no more than seven years old.

The man was tall and thin, wearing a crisp uniform. His demeanor suggested he was a high-earning professional like a doctor or lawyer.

The woman wore loose-fitting house clothes.

Her golden blonde waves cascaded over her shoulders. Her figure was pleasantly plump, her legs were average in size, and her skin was fair.

She wasn’t wearing any makeup, but she still had an eight-point-plus face. Because she wasn't wearing a bra, her natural endowment drooped slightly, forming a V-shape.

A very typical homemaker look in a Lighthouse country household.

“Do you need something?”

Rhode glanced at them and looked away.

He was quite confused, as he didn't remember knowing these people.

“Hello, we are your new neighbors.”

“We just moved in today, so we brought some little gifts for our neighbors.”

The couple outside greeted him warmly.

“I’m Taisha, and this is my husband, Brule.”

“Rhode!”

Rhode nodded, realizing what was happening, and took the gift the woman handed him.

He then extended an invitation to his new neighbors.

“Would you like to come in and have a seat?”

“No, we still have to visit other neighbors. If you have time, you can come visit us at our new home.”

Watching the enthusiastic couple leave, Rhode suddenly felt something was wrong.

All the houses around his place were already full. Where did these new neighbors come from?

The only vacant house he could think of was that one.

Rhode's gaze drifted towards the distance.

A three-story detached villa.

A classic European luxury-style building, with its own courtyard and even a swimming pool.

Except for the lack of regular cleaning, making it appear slightly desolate, it was perfect.

For most people in Lighthouse country, such old antique houses with historical value were quite popular in the real estate market.

However, this house was a notorious haunted house.

He only knew that within the past three years, this haunted house had already changed hands three times.

At least four or five people had died inside.

As for earlier times, even more people had died in this haunted house.

After all, this haunted house had a history of over a hundred years.

Who knows how many people had died inside?

With so many deaths, the police naturally investigated the haunted house specifically, but the conclusion was consistent.

All the previous owners died from accidents.

But in the eyes of the neighbors, this was a haunted house with evil spirits.

As a materialist, he wouldn’t believe in any ridiculous things like evil spirits or haunted houses in the past.

But now, Rhode wasn’t so sure.

If werewolves could actually exist, then what’s the big deal about a few evil spirits?

Though they weren’t from the same world.

Back in his house, Rhode looked at the gift in his hands.

Although he wasn’t very good at interacting with strangers.

But, they had taken the initiative to visit him, and it seemed impolite not to return the favor.

“What should I prepare?”

Rhode stroked his chin.

Return gifts didn't need to be too expensive, usually some homemade snacks would do.

But he didn’t know how to make any snacks.

“Haunted house...”

Rhode stroked his chin and thought of the alchemy he had just mastered.

Alchemy seemed to have potions that could reveal and banish evil spirits.

Moreover, they seemed quite simple to make.

He had all the materials in his spatial storage.

He had to thank the old witch for her selfless contributions.

“It’s still a few lives after all.”

Rhode mumbled quietly, planning to make a few amulets for his new neighbors.

“Mugwort, garlic, lemon, a few drops of holy water...”

These were all common materials. The only difficult thing to find was what they called holy water.

Holy water, in plain terms, was pure water contained in sacred silver utensils used for prayer and baptism in churches.

After being blessed with divine power, it had the power to banish evil spirits.

The holy water in ordinary churches was basically useless.

Only in large churches might you find true holy water.

However, this wasn’t a problem for him.

Rhode took out his silver cross necklace and directly immersed it in water.

His cross necklace was a holy silver artifact blessed with divine power, and the water it was submerged in would naturally be holy water.
