Upon learning of the murder, Director Ochiai was greatly shocked.
He immediately sealed off the art museum to prevent the murderer from escaping the scene.
Detective Mōri received the report and arrived at the scene with his officers ten minutes later.
Thankfully, there were not many tourists visiting today, greatly reducing the difficulty of the police investigation.
As he entered the art museum, the first thing he saw was Kogoro Mouri, which left him speechless:
"Why is it you again?"
Two days ago, they had to send a police helicopter to the mountain to rescue Kogoro's daughter, Ran Mouri.
Come on, it's only been two days!
This guy can't be quiet for a moment, he's involved in another murder.
Kogoro Mouri stood tall, saluting.
He completely ignored the other's complaints, instead boasting:
"Ah, yes, it's me. I haven't let anyone touch the body, officer."
Detective Mōri rolled his eyes, not wanting to talk to Kogoro Mouri.
He caught a glimpse of the tall and handsome Byakuya in his peripheral vision.
"Why is it you again, Suzuki-san."
This guy was also present during the rescue mission on the mountain.
According to Ms. Kuroda's testimony, it was Byakuya Suzuki who first identified the true culprit after Mr. Hamano's death.
He went against the consensus and forcibly restricted Ms. Tanaka's actions.
This is what saved the life of the owner of the house, Yoshikazu, who was supposed to be seeking revenge.
Byakuya was friendly towards the police, waving and greeting them:
"It's me. Any problem?"
"No... No problem."
Detective Mōri awkwardly chuckled, no longer pursuing the matter.
He came to the center of the crowd, scanned the area, and asked:
"Did anyone see the suspect?"
Director Ochiai reported to the police, his eyebrows blocking his narrowed eyes:
"We have verified with all staff and customers at the scene, and no one has seen the suspect."
Mr. Iijima added from the side, pointing to the upper right corner of the wall:
"Because there were rumors of ghosts here a few days ago, we installed cameras there. It should have captured it."
There are surveillance cameras at the scene, that makes things much easier!
Everyone quickly went to the security room to check the footage of the incident.
As the footage fast forwarded, Kogoro Mouri mocked:
"This criminal is really stupid. Doesn't he know there are cameras in places like art museums?"
Detective Mōri ignored him, focusing on the screen.
The footage fast-forwarded to 4:25 PM, when Mr. Sanaka entered Hell's Room.
He walked to a medieval suit of armor, looking around.
Then he looked at his watch to confirm the time, as if he was waiting for someone.
Suddenly, the armor behind him moved, the silver knight's sword slashing diagonally at him!
Mr. Sanaka was caught off guard, injured and forced to the corner of the wall, gasping for breath.
Because the armor was too tightly covered on the head, even facing the camera, you couldn't see who was inside.
After a moment's pause, the armor raised its weapon, striking Mr. Sanaka with another blow, then grabbed him by the neck and lifted him up.
The silver blade pierced through his chest, pinning him to the wall.
Before the medieval armor left the camera's range, Detective Mōri pressed pause.
The composition of the scene was exactly the same as the painting called "Divine Punishment" in Hell's Room!
Adding a sense of solemn beauty to this murder.
Kogoro Mouri stroked his chin, suspecting that this was a copycat crime.
But there's no clue for a copycat crime, it's a real headache.
Conan, wanting to find the real culprit as quickly as possible, approached the monitor and rewound the footage, carefully observing every detail.
Detective Mōri was still a skilled investigator, quickly noticing a blind spot:
"This murderer is really bold. If he went outside wearing this, he would definitely cause a commotion."
"I see." Ran Mouri pondered: "That's why there was a 'No Entry' sign at the entrance when we went in."
Hearing this, Detective Mōri quickly realized.
If someone specifically put up the sign, it means that the crime was committed by an insider.
This eliminates the possibility of customers, which is good news for solving the case.
Kogoro Mouri frowned, a little uncertain:
"Ran, I think we went there around four o'clock, right?"
"Yes, but when we went back at five o'clock, the sign was gone."
According to the surveillance footage, the time of death has been confirmed to be between 4:25 PM and 4:30 PM.
The person who placed the sign is very likely the murderer who killed Mr. Sanaka.
Conan's eyes lit up, as if he understood something.
Not many people visited the art museum today, and there were not many staff members either.
He glanced at the security room, there were seven internal staff members.
Seven to one?
As long as he could find more clues and narrow it down to three to one, that's Conan's forte!
As the surveillance footage was rewound, he soon noticed a detail.
After the armor delivered the first blow, it intentionally paused for a few seconds.
Mr. Sanaka, driven to desperation, grabbed the pen and paper on the table and seemed to write something.
Then, in a fit of anger, he threw the pen.
The armor quickly turned its head, lifting Mr. Sanaka up and piercing his heart with the silver sword.
Kogoro Mouri stared at the rewound footage, his spirits soaring.
If he could solve the case, it would greatly enhance the reputation of the Mouri Detective Agency!
"I understand!"
"What do you understand, Mouri-san?"
"Mr. Sanaka wrote down the name of the murderer who made the appointment with him before he died, and left a message about his death. He was able to remain so calm in the face of death, it's not easy."
Detective Mōri also noticed this, and he called everyone in the room to go to Hell's Room.
The crime scene was well sealed, and no one had approached the body.
Following the instructions, the coroner pried open Mr. Sanaka's hand and took out a piece of paper.
Detective Mōri unfolded it and saw the name written on it, and he couldn't help but read it out loud:
"Wada!"
Hearing the officer call his name, Wada was dumbfounded:
"Ah, why are you calling my name?"
Kogoro Mouri, eager to prove his worth, instantly turned into a "know-it-all":
"Maybe you were afraid of being caught on camera, so you wore the armor. Sadly, Mr. Sanaka discovered your identity before he died, and wrote your name on this paper. Haha, didn't you expect this?"
Wada was sweating profusely, and he couldn't believe that he had become the murderer.
He took a step back, his expression full of anxiety:
"It wasn't me, I didn't do it."
After identifying the suspect, evidence was still needed. Detective Mōri followed protocol and asked:
"Mr. Wada, what were you doing at 4:30 PM, the time of the incident?"
"I... I was alone in my office doing what the director asked me to do."
The director stood beside him and agreed:
"Yes, because he was clumsy before, so he was assigned a simple task."
"Simple tasks?" Detective Mōri quickly found a blind spot: "So... you don't have an alibi, do you?"
