Chapter 27
The Miyano Sisters

“Do you find it rather quiet?”

Masao caught a glimpse of Suzuki Bai Ye's expression and grinned, saying:

“When I first came here, I felt the same way. As long as you don’t go to the ‘black room’, everything will be fine.”

The ‘black room’ again. What exactly is in there?

Bai Ye was filled with questions and followed Masao down a corridor about a hundred meters long.

After turning a corner at the end, the view suddenly opened up.

Two bodyguards wearing hazmat suits stood at the doorway, as unmoving as guardians.

Bai Ye had never seen them before. He guessed they were personnel outside the security department.

They seemed to know Masao and, after a quick identity check, allowed them to pass.

The laboratory inside was much more spacious, lit by rows of bright light bulbs.

Miyano Shiho, wearing a white suit, sat among various instruments and vessels.

Masao walked up to her and politely gestured with a welcoming hand:

“Doctor, we’ve come to pick you up.”

Miyano Shiho put down the newspaper and followed them to the door.

She and Suzuki Bai Ye walked in front, while Masao trailed behind.

This arrangement not only ensured a clear view but also effectively prevented Dr. Miyano from escaping.

The sound of their footsteps echoed in the hallway.

They walked side by side, and at first glance, they seemed quite a good match.

With an outsider present, Miyano Shiho appeared extremely indifferent.

Occasionally, she would glance at Suzuki Bai Ye’s profile, but she didn't say much.

Leaving the Mita City Pharmaceutical Company, the three of them came to a coffee shop on the street.

Since Miyano Shiho was a key protected figure in the pharmaceutical factory, the meeting place wouldn’t be too far away.

Otherwise, it would be too crowded and unpredictable.

Upon arriving at the coffee shop, Suzuki Bai Ye looked up at the sign and furrowed his brow slightly.

He had just interviewed for a job here a few days ago, but unfortunately, the owner had been killed, and the business was taken over by someone else.

Masao sensed something amiss from behind and asked:

“Mr. Suzuki, what’s wrong?”

Bai Ye didn’t mention that the owner was dead, as he thought it would bring bad luck.

Furthermore, it was unrelated to his current mission, so he brushed it off, saying:

“Nothing much. I just thought we’d be going to a more upscale place.”

Masao politely smiled and handed him a walkie-talkie:

“I’ll be guarding outside and won’t go in. The coffee shop doesn’t have a back door. If you need anything, just contact me using this.”

“Alright, no problem.”

Bai Ye took the walkie-talkie, thanked him, and followed his target inside.

Before he could spot the target, Miyano Shiho rushed forward.

“Sister!”

She looked very similar to Miyano Shiho, yet also slightly different.

Her long, straight black hair was parted on the right, a hairstyle favored by many men.

Her eyes were a beautiful blue, slightly downcast, and she had a pointed, oval face, her temperament and aura vaguely resembling that of Ran Mouri.

She wore a bank employee’s uniform, only she had removed the name tag on her chest.

Suzuki Bai Ye’s eyelids twitched. He felt familiar with this uniform.

It was the uniform he had seen during a robbery case he solved last time, from some bank near Mita Park, he recalled.

The woman he was meeting was called Miyano Akemi, and supposedly, she had also been a pharmaceutical factory employee.

Suzuki Bai Ye saw the two of them embracing and didn’t interrupt.

Miyano Akemi’s smile was like the warm sun in winter, melting Miyano Shiho’s icy demeanor.

For the first time, she showed a hint of joy.

Miyano Akemi hugged her sister Shiho and checked her all over, saying:

“Let me see. Have you lost weight again?”

“No, sister. I’m doing well. How about you?”

“I’m okay.”

Miyano Akemi turned her head and gave a forced smile.

Bai Ye noticed it, but he didn’t expose it.

After the embrace, the two of them took their seats and ordered three coffees from the waiter.

Bai Ye diligently adhered to his bodyguard duties and sat next to Miyano Shiho.

It was more of a surveillance operation than close protection.

Miyano Akemi looked up at the tall, handsome man in front of her:

“Shiho, aren’t you going to introduce him? This is…?”

Before Miyano Shiho could mention it, Bai Ye, with a smile, introduced himself friendly:

“Hello, I’m Security Captain Suzuki Bai Ye. I’m responsible for the doctor’s safety.”

“Oh~” Miyano Akemi drew out the sound and asked, “Is he from the Organization?”

Miyano Shiho looked at him, then back at her sister, shaking her head:

“No.”

Bai Ye looked puzzled and took the initiative to inquire:

“What organization are you talking about?”

Miyano Akemi understood when she saw him ask, and immediately responded:

“Nothing. It’s just an organization within the pharmaceutical factory.”

From this, Bai Ye deduced that they were talking about some kind of high-end organization that social elites participated in.

Based on his current status and position, he wasn’t eligible to join any organization, so he didn’t think too much about it.

Miyano Akemi looked at the two of them with a sweet smile.

There was a height difference of about two to three feet between them, the kind that was considered the “most adorable” height difference.

Moreover, the woman was beautiful and the man handsome; they looked like a young couple.

“Honestly, the two of you look really good together.”

Miyano Shiho blushed slightly, a rare sight, and glared at him with a hint of resentment.

“Sister!”

She had never been in a relationship, not even once, her whole life.

Even during the time when the organization paid for Miyano Shiho to study abroad, she remained alone.

For someone like her, who was destined to dedicate herself to science, she simply didn’t have the time or energy for romance.

Such a thing would be too extravagant.

Miyano Akemi, sitting across from her, was also filled with unspoken concerns.

She didn’t mention her agreement with the organization. She was simply ready to bear the consequences.

Once she received the billion yen, Akemi would take her sister away and live a normal life.

“Shiho, I’m not joking.”

Miyano Akemi’s smile faded and her expression turned serious:

“Don’t spend all your time researching those medicines. You should try to find a boyfriend sometime soon.”

Miyano Shiho discreetly glanced at Bai Ye, then withdrew her gaze:

“Sister, it’s rare to see each other. Can you please not talk about this?”

“Okay, I’ll listen to you.”

The two of them chatted about their daily lives and what they’d seen and heard.

Suzuki Bai Ye was monitoring here and had a mission to fulfill.

He would cough once to remind them if he came across anything that might involve company secrets.

Bai Ye didn’t know Miyano Shiho’s current predicament. He conscientiously carried out his bodyguard duties.

After all, he was earning 900,000 yen a month, so he had to do his job well.

Happy moments are always fleeting.

After about half an hour, Bai Ye took out his flip phone:

“Excuse me, Dr. Miyano, it’s time to go.”

Miyano Shiho felt a tinge of regret and pleaded:

“Could you give me two more minutes? I want to say goodbye to my sister.”

Bai Ye looked at the door, hesitated for a moment, and replied:

“Alright, but try to make it quick. If Masao pushes the door open, I’ll end it immediately.”

“No problem. We won’t make things difficult for you.”

The two sisters hugged each other tightly, reluctant to let go.

Miyano Akemi patted her sister’s back and comforted her, saying:

“Don’t worry, everything will be alright.”

“Mm-hmm.”

“This handsome guy seems pretty good. You should consider dating him.”
