Chapter 40
The Knight's Trial of War, Distorted Values! (New Book Launch)

In the city.

Inside a courtroom painted in shades of darkness, Xia Mi Gan, clad in prison garb with silver bracelets on her wrists, stood in the defendant's seat, her expression vacant.

Suddenly, a man shrouded in darkness in front of her struck a hammer, jolting Xia Mi Gan back to consciousness.

“Defendant Xia Mi Gan, your trial will be conducted according to the Kamen Rider Judgment System!”

Hearing the judge mention a Kamen Rider trial, Xia Mi Gan was utterly perplexed. She couldn't comprehend what kind of system this was.

She voiced her confusion, prompting the judge to explain the Kamen Rider Judgment System.

“The judgment system involves Kamen Riders presenting their opinions and settling the outcome through combat. The ultimate victor determines your guilt or innocence!”

Upon learning about this absurd system, Xia Mi Gan was completely taken aback. Before she could speak, the judge's voice rang out again.

“The Rider War has commenced. The chosen Kamen Riders will battle each other in the Mirror World until only one remains.”

“The prosecutor, the lawyer, and those involved in the case will all be selected!”

Xia Mi Gan couldn't believe this world's twisted and frivolous Rider Judgment System.

This system not only easily propagated the values of might makes right but also made it effortless for criminals to escape punishment.

“Can such a judgment system render a just verdict?”

“Hmph, those with opinions will engage in a direct clash within the Mirror World. The victor's opinion will determine your judgment. The Kamen Rider Judgment System is the most reasonable, fair, and impartial; no need to question it!”

With those words, the judge ordered Xia Mi Gan to be escorted away, instructing her to await the outcome. She was not to concern herself with the proceedings.

Before leaving, Xia Mi Gan protested, “I reject this form of judgment. I demand a lawyer!”

After brief deliberation, the judge and the members of the jury agreed to allow her to meet with a lawyer.

Soon after, Xia Mi Gan was escorted to the interview room at the police station to meet with her defense attorney.

Meanwhile, outside the police station, Ying Fei sat on a bench, sipping slowly from a cup of coffee.

Recalling the events of the plot, Ying Fei sighed and said, “The Rider Judgment System sounds utterly ridiculous, glorifying the values of strength above all else. The DCD Dragon Knight world, upon closer examination, makes one’s skin crawl.”

“However, this system can be overturned, making it a minor issue. What I really want is the power of the Mirror World!”

The DCD’s Mirror World differed from the main world. Defeated Riders would not die; they would merely lose their card decks and be forced out of the Mirror World.

Another major difference was the absence of the 9 minutes and 55 seconds activity limit of the main world.

Ying Fei took a sip of coffee, his eyes gleaming with a glint of brilliance. He muttered under his breath, “This world's waters are deep. Who created the Rider System? Who created the Mirror Monsters? And can they be mass-produced?”

Numerous speculations raced through his mind, coupled with an uncontrollable urge to claim this world!

“This is truly intriguing. It seems I must prepare early!”

After uttering those words, Ying Fei stood up, tossed his empty coffee cup into the trash can, and strode into the police station toward the interview room.

As he opened the door, he heard Xiong Jie questioning Wang Xiao Ming about whether he would defend Xia Mi Gan.

Xia Mi Gan, who had been seated in the chair in a daze, learned that Wang Xiao Ming was her defense lawyer. She instantly fell into despair, concluding that her future life would be spent behind bars!

Xiong Jie pushed Wang Xiao Ming aside, rushing towards Xia Mi Gan to inquire about what had happened.

She replied with a hint of grievance, “I want to know what happened too.”

At that moment, a man sitting across the table suddenly spoke, capturing everyone's attention.

“You don't look like a police officer.”

Under Wang Xiao Ming’s questioning gaze, the man quickly introduced himself, “My name is Chen Si Zhen Si. I’m a subordinate of the victim, Editor Tao Jing.”

Upon learning that the man was a subordinate of the victim, Wang Xiao Ming smirked and asked, “Did you see this criminal use cruel means to murder a helpless woman?”

These words instantly enraged Xia Mi Gan, who wanted to punch him. But, with her hands cuffed, she had no strength to muster, so she could only push Wang Xiao Ming with all her might to express her displeasure.

“Ying Fei, come quickly and take this guy away. I don’t want him to be my defense lawyer!”

Spotting Ying Fei just outside the door, Xia Mi Gan felt as if her savior had arrived. She couldn’t help but beg him to take Wang Xiao Ming away.

Before Ying Fei could take any action, Chen Si Zhen Si stepped in to mediate, “Mr. Attorney, when I arrived at the company, the police were already there. Editor Tao Jing’s cause of death was a stab wound to the neck, and this lady just happened to have a fork.”

“However, I didn’t actually see whether she was the one who did it.”

Xia Mi Gan then explained that she had gone to see Editor Tao Jing to ask about the Kamen Rider but, unfortunately, no one believed her.

Ying Fei walked in, placed his hand on Xia Mi Gan’s head, and said, “This world’s judgment system is twisted. It’s actually quite easy to get you acquitted.”

His words immediately caught the attention of Xia Mi Gan, Xiong Jie, and the others, all eager to learn how she could be released.

Ying Fei snapped his fingers, a sly smile curling his lips, “Simple, participate in this world’s judgment war, then defeat all the Riders, and issue a verdict of not guilty.”

Slap!

Xiong Jie struck his palm with a fist, his eyes lighting up with understanding.

Wang Xiao Ming, too, displayed a thoughtful expression.

Chen Si Zhen Si hesitated, unsure whether he should participate in the judgment war.

Xia Mi Gan expressed a bit of concern, “Is that really alright?”

Ying Fei ruffled her hair again, “As I said earlier, their judgment system is twisted. Since everyone here thinks it’s reasonable, then we’ll try it. If it doesn’t work, we’ll try something else.”

Hearing this, Xia Mi Gan’s mind was put at ease.

With that, the interview came to an end, and the group left the police station.
