Chapter 9
Meeting the Protagonist Group

“Alright, let me see.”

Mutoh Soro took the deck from Yu Xuan and casually began inspecting it.

“Hmm, this is the GERA Warrior, the Man-Eating Jewel Box, the Pterodactyl Warrior… you actually have so many good cards!”

As he flipped through the cards, Mutoh Soro’s expression went from nonchalant to full of shock, as if he were seeing a precious treasure chest opening before his eyes.

“Are these rare?”

After learning that the powerful cards like Pot of Greed weren’t very valuable, Yu Xuan wasn’t holding out much hope for Niu Wei’s cards.

But judging from Soro’s reaction, these cards seemed to be extremely valuable.

“They’re rarely seen on the market, extremely valuable.”

To Yu Xuan’s surprise, Soro gave them a high evaluation.

“If I sold all of them, how much money would I get?”

Yu Xuan’s eyes lit up; he was currently broke.

“Sell all of them? You’re really willing to part with them. Aren’t you going to trade them for other rare cards?”

Hearing Yu Xuan’s words, Soro looked at him with a strange expression.

“No, no, let the shop owner take advantage of this bargain.”

Yu Xuan had a rough idea of what rare cards meant in this world.

He just hadn’t imagined that a group of ordinary monsters without anything special about them would be rarer than Pot of Greed. It was strange.

Therefore, he didn’t choose to trade rare cards with Soro. Trading a bunch of ordinary monsters he didn’t use for another group of equally meaningless cards was even stranger.

“You said it, don’t go back on your word.”

Hearing that Yu Xuan was truly just selling the cards and had no intention of trading, Mutoh Soro immediately took out his money, bought the cards, and kept them away, the whole process smooth and effortless, as if he was afraid that Yu Xuan would change his mind.

Yu Xuan, of course, wouldn’t go back on his word. He patted his now bulging wallet, almost bursting into laughter.

He had only wanted to sell these cards to buy back the money he spent on Pot of Greed.

Earning so much money was a complete surprise. The money he earned from selling the cards would allow him to live comfortably for half a year without having to work.

He had to thank Niu Wei for his generosity.

However, Yu Xuan still didn’t understand why these ordinary monsters had such high value.

For example, the Dark Magician and Red-Eyes Black Dragon, in reality, these cards weren’t actually that powerful.

But their strength lay in the fact that they had a series of supporting cards that worked with them, giving them extraordinary power.

If you looked at their individual combat power alone, there were many monsters in Yu-Gi-Oh with an attack power exceeding 2500, and many cards had powerful effects.

Of course, he didn’t underestimate the Dark Magician and Red-Eyes Black Dragon in any way. After all, the monsters they fused into were enough to make countless duelists kneel and call them “father.”

“I’m back.”

At that moment, a bustling voice came from outside the door.

Yu Xuan looked over and noticed the hairstyle of those entering the door, immediately recognizing their identities.

This short and stocky star-shaped head was definitely Mutoh Yugi. The sharp hairstyle, whether seen through a screen or in person, was bizarre no matter how you looked at it.

The blonde man who came in with Yugi, needless to say, was the gambling king, Kaiba.

And the one with hair so sharp it could be used as a cone, had to be Honda Hiroto.

He had encountered the protagonist group, Yu Xuan thought.

“Hey, old man, do you have the latest edition of the Duel Disk?”

Kaiba waved the book bag he was holding and asked impatiently, full of energy.

“Duel Disk? I haven’t heard of that. What kind of thing are you talking about?”

Soro shook his head, indicating that he had never heard of such a thing.

“Wow, that’s the new Duel Disk.”

At that moment, Kaiba noticed Yu Xuan standing by the side, staring intently at the Duel Disk in his hand.

“Oh, so this is the Duel Disk you’re talking about. I thought the thing in his hand was just a model toy used to hold cards.”

Soro shrugged, “But I don’t have that kind of thing here.”

Hearing the conversation of the group, Yu Xuan understood that the current plot was probably at the point where Kaiba was holding the Duel City tournament, and Yugi and the others were preparing to get their Duel Disks to participate.

“Hey, you don’t have it? Then where did he get his Duel Disk?”

Disappointment was written all over Kaiba’s face. If his friend’s family shop had the new Duel Disk, he might be able to “freeload” one.

“Kaiba, don’t point at the customers in the shop like that, it’s not polite.”

Yugi was afraid that Kaiba’s excessive extrovertedness would scare Yu Xuan.

“What’s there to be afraid of? Since he has a Duel Disk, he must be a Duelist. He wouldn’t mind these little things.”

Kaiba was very casual. He turned to Yu Xuan and said cheerfully, “I’m Kaiba, a Duelist. Do you mind telling me where you got your Duel Disk?”

“My name is Yu Xuan. This Duel Disk is…”

Before Yu Xuan could finish speaking, Kaiba exclaimed in surprise, “What a coincidence, Yugi, his name sounds like yours.”

“It does seem a bit similar.”

Yugi was also a little surprised to hear Yu Xuan’s name.

“Well, my name is Mutoh Yugi. I’m the shop owner’s grandson.”

“I’m Honda Hiroto.”

Yugi and the others introduced themselves one after another.

They seemed to have become acquainted because of their similar names.

Yu Xuan nodded, finding it a little funny. To be strict, his name wasn’t similar to Yugi’s.

His “Yu” was a genuine Chinese surname, coming from the Ji lineage, while Yugi’s surname was Mutoh.

The two simply both had “Yu” in their names.

But that was enough. Everyone knew that the protagonists of each generation of Yu-Gi-Oh were all “Yu” characters: Yugi, Yusei, Yuma, Yuto, Yuya, Yuzu…

And they all had unique hairstyles that could be matched to starfish, jellyfish, crabs, lobsters, tomatoes, and trilobites respectively.

(A vegetable popped up among the seafood)

They were known as the hairstyles that scream, “I’m good at playing cards, just look at me!”

Yu Xuan, as a “Yu” character, didn’t know if he’d have any special card playing bonus. After all, his hairstyle wasn’t fashionable enough, so he wore a red baseball cap.

“By the way, Yu Xuan, do you know where I can buy a Duel Disk?”

After the little episode with the “similar names,” Kaiba brought the conversation back to the main topic.

Yu Xuan nodded. He was just about to say something about it when Kaiba interrupted him. “This new Duel Disk was developed by KaibaCorp. It should be sold at toy stores associated with KC.”

“That’s right, we can only go look elsewhere.”

Kaiba was full of helplessness.

Previously, Kaiba had had a conflict with Mutoh Soro over the fourth Blue-Eyes White Dragon in the world. Although nothing too serious happened in the end,

since there had been a feud, KaibaCorp wouldn’t sell things developed by them in Mutoh Soro’s shop, of course.
