Chapter 91
The Fossil Pokémon Family Pack Arrives

“KAMI!”

Blastoise opened its mouth and spat out a Water Ball.

BOOM!!

Hydro Pump hit, exploding into a cloud of white mist. As the mist cleared, Aerodactyl fainted.

“Go, Poké Ball!” Shigeru threw out a Poké Ball.

Bang!

The Poké Ball hit Aerodactyl and successfully captured it.

Controlled by telekinesis, the Poké Ball flew in front of Shigeru, who reached out and grabbed it.

【Ding! Mission Released: Collect Green's Backup Team (Heracross, Aerodactyl, Gyarados, Pinsir, Tyranitar, Magneton.) / Rewards: Medium Rare Candy X10, High-Grade Rare Candy X10, Bronze Crown X1, Silver Crown X1, Gold Crown X1!】

Shigeru was instantly dumbfounded. He had captured Aerodactyl and triggered a mission.

The system had released a collection mission. Looking at the 6 Pokémon needed for the mission, they were indeed all part of Green's backup team. Tyranitar, in particular, was Green's signature Pokémon as a League Champion.

Out of the 6 Pokémon, the others were fine, but the key was how to capture Tyranitar. Tyranitar was a rare Pokémon that couldn't be obtained through trading.

To capture Tyranitar, a Trainer would have to catch it in the wild. However, wild Tyranitar were incredibly powerful. Even Shigeru's current Pokémon combined wouldn't be enough to take one down.

As for Slowpoke and Slowking, capturing them was even more difficult. Slowpoke lived underground after birth and spent their days constantly eating dirt. They rarely came out.

Once Slowpoke ate a mountain's worth of dirt, it would evolve into Slowking. Slowking was a cocoon state and didn't need to eat. It stayed buried underground until just before evolving, when it would come out.

So, capturing Tyranitar wouldn't be much of a problem, but capturing Slowpoke and Slowking was extremely difficult.

Tyranitar were also very rare. Although many Trainers in the anime had Tyranitar, wild Tyranitar rarely appeared.

The only Tyranitar Shigeru knew of was a female living in the Silver Forest. Her child had interacted with Satoshi for a while.

The key was that this Tyranitar lived in the Silver Mountain Conservation Area, and capturing Pokémon in protected areas was not allowed.

“Let’s all go rest.” Shigeru didn't dwell on it. He'd deal with the mission later. First, they needed to leave the underground cave.

Shigeru called back his Pokémon. He then found the Poké Balls on Musashi and Kojirō, returning Abomasnow and Kricketot.

Natsue used Teleport to take them back to the cave entrance.

“Satoshi, are you okay?” As they came up from the underground cave, Kasumi and Takeshi checked on Satoshi.

“Kasumi, Takeshi, don't worry. I'm fine. The Rocket Gang is taken care of. And... we saw some rare ancient Pokémon underground!” Satoshi proudly declared.

Kasumi and Takeshi were both confused. They hadn't seen anything in the underground cave. They had heard some commotion though. If it weren't for Shigeru and Natsue going down, they would have gone down to check.

“Are those ancient Pokémon still down there?” Takeshi asked.

As soon as Takeshi asked, Satoshi's proud face instantly turned sullen. “Shigeru caught them all.”

Kasumi and Takeshi immediately looked at Shigeru.

“Shigeru, can we see those ancient Pokémon?” Kasumi asked.

“Sorry, my Pokémon storage is full. Once they are captured, they get transferred to Grandpa's place, so I can't show you right now.” Shigeru said. “Instead of looking at them, let's call the police.”

After saying that, Shigeru took out his phone and called the police.

After talking to the police.

Shigeru also called Professor Oak. After all, the ancient Pokémon hadn't seen any modern humans. If Professor Oak just released them, they would likely rampage again.

“Hey, Shigeru, why are you calling me?” Professor Oak answered the phone.

It seemed Grandpa hadn't opened the Poké Ball yet.

“Grandpa, I captured some new Pokémon. They should have been transferred, right?” Shigeru said.

“Oh, you caught some new Pokémon. Let me go take a look later.” Professor Oak was busy with research and wasn’t constantly monitoring the transfer machine.

“This time I captured a lot of Pokémon. There are 9 in total.”

“That many? What did you catch?”

Professor Oak was surprised. Hadn't he decided to take the elite route? How come he caught so many at once?

“Nothing much, just two Omanyte, two Omastar, two Kabuto, two Kabutops, and one Aerodactyl.” Shigeru said.

The other end of the line went silent.

“Shigeru, are you serious? Those are ancient Pokémon, extinct Pokémon! Where did you find them?” Professor Oak questioned.

“I found them right here in the Great Fool Valley, in an underground cave. They just woke up, they were a little hungry. Grandpa, before you study them, feed them first. And don't keep them in the backyard, in case they eat the other Pokémon in the backyard.” Shigeru reminded him.

In the original plot, Aerodactyl treated Satoshi as food. It clearly hadn't been exposed to modern society. If they were let loose, other Pokémon would suffer.

“Great Fool Valley, I never thought that there were living ancient Pokémon besides fossils.” Professor Oak was astonished.

“I’ve said what I needed to say. Grandpa, take good care of these ancient Pokémon. Omastar and Kabutops should be female. If the Pokémon League needs them, you can give them away.” Shigeru said.

“Female? How do you know?”

Even Professor Oak, who studied ancient Pokémon, didn't know their ecological information, so how could Shigeru possibly know?

“Because when I captured the Omanyte and Kabuto, Kabutops and Omastar didn't run away. That's the case, the Omanyte and Kabuto are likely their children.”

Kabutops and Omastar's egg groups are both Water 1 and Water 3, without any racial isolation, so they can breed with each other.

“You're quite observant. I got it. I'll take care of them.” Professor Oak said.

“Then Grandpa, please take good care of them. I'm also curious why they survived from ancient times. Although Rock-type Pokémon can sleep for a long time to survive disasters, it shouldn't be tens of thousands of years.” Shigeru said.

“You have a point. Maybe they’ve been living underground all this time.” Professor Oak said.

“Maybe.” Shigeru had to agree. They couldn't have survived for tens of thousands of years with only a few individuals. Even Legendary Pokémon might not survive for tens of thousands of years.
