“Komi!”
Seeing Hu Di disappear, the Growlithe didn't continue searching for it. Instead, it turned its gaze towards Ash.
Ash: ???
Ash felt a sense of foreboding. He had captured a Growlithe before and knew its temper. He just hadn't expected Gary's Growlithe to act this way.
“Be careful. The Growlithe is in a state of rage and will attack anything in front of it. All of you, get behind me.” Gary said.
Ash and the others didn't hesitate. They immediately hid behind Gary and Nessa.
“Mi-goro!”
The Growlithe immediately shifted its focus to Gary. Its eyes were filled with bloodshot redness, and the blue veins on its forehead were bulging, all showcasing the Growlithe's current fury.
“Growlithe, remember to use Anger Fist.” Gary reminded it.
“Mi-goro!!”
The Growlithe had lost its mind. It charged straight at Gary, launching a flying kick. Million Ton Kick!
Whoosh!
Hu Di teleported in front of Ash, a barrier of psychic energy materializing in front of it.
Bang!!
Reflect was able to block the Growlithe's fist.
But the Growlithe continued to unleash Cross Chop, causing the psychic barrier to tremble violently. In its rage, the Growlithe had completely forgotten that this training was meant to help it evolve.
“Gary, are we just going to keep doing this?” Nessa asked.
“For now, yes. We need to force the Growlithe to use Anger Fist. Nessa, how long can you hold on?” Gary asked.
“I'm alright for now, but the Growlithe is completely disobeying commands. It's using skills at random. Its current state is probably just a way of letting off steam.” Nessa explained.
“Nessa, can you use Confuse Ray to seal the Growlithe's other moves?” Gary asked.
“Confuse Ray isn't Psychic-type. I can't do that.” Nessa replied.
Gary thought about it. Confuse Ray is a Normal-type move, not a Psychic-type move.
Bang!
Suddenly, a Poké Ball opened up from Misty, and Psyduck ran out.
“Why are you running out here now?” Misty groaned.
Seeing Misty's Psyduck, Gary exclaimed in surprise: “Misty, your Psyduck might know Confuse Ray.”
“Nessa, you can hypnotize Psyduck and have it use Confuse Ray to seal Growlithe’s rampage.” Ash suggested.
“Alright.”
Nessa's eyes flashed blue, and a burst of psychic energy repelled the Growlithe.
“Blastoise!”
Gary released Blastoise as well.
Nessa approached Psyduck, lifting its head and staring into its eyes.
“Guba…!”
Hypnosis spread, and Psyduck instantly fell into a hypnotic state.
Bang!!
At this moment, Blastoise used its own body to block the Growlithe's attacks. Thankfully, it used Feather Dance to lower the Growlithe’s Attack, otherwise Blastoise wouldn’t have been able to withstand its onslaught.
“Misty, you command Psyduck.” Nessa said.
“Alright. Psyduck, use Confuse Ray on Growlithe.” Misty immediately ordered.
“Guba!”
Psyduck stood to the side, extending its paws. A magical energy turned into ripples that spread out. The Growlithe, which was attacking Blastoise, instantly froze.
But a second later, dark, gloomy shadows spread out, and the Growlithe punched out, unleashing Anger Fist, which sent Blastoise flying backward several meters.
“Kami!”
Squirtle was startled. It hadn't expected the Growlithe's Anger Fist to be so powerful.
Although the Growlithe’s Attack power was lowered, Anger Fist currently had 350 power, exceeding even Explosion. The power of a single punch couldn't move mountains, but it was enough to crack the earth.
Just as the Growlithe was about to launch another attack, it felt its body unable to move. It discovered that Psyduck had used Psychic to restrain it.
Gary was surprised. He didn't want the Growlithe to lose. If it did, everything would have to start all over again.
“Psyduck, you’re amazing.” Misty was very happy to see Psyduck using Psychic to restrain the Growlithe. She was increasingly fond of Psyduck.
“Misty, don’t let your Psyduck attack the Growlithe. If the Growlithe loses, all our previous efforts will be in vain.” Gary immediately reminded her.
“Psyduck, stop using Psychic.” Seeing this, Misty immediately ordered.
Psyduck followed Misty's order and released the Psychic restraint. The freed Growlithe, not playing fair, punched into the air. Anger Fist shot out, directly hitting Psyduck, sending it flying.
Boom!!
Hit by Anger Fist, Psyduck flew backward and landed on the ground, instantly falling asleep.
“Psyduck!” Misty rushed over, worried, to check Psyduck’s condition.
“I’m sorry, the Growlithe is a bit confused. I’ll compensate you later.” Gary apologized and continued to watch the Growlithe.
Counting the Anger Fist it had used before, the Growlithe had used it 14 times. It had 6 times left.
“Pidgeotto, go and lure the Growlithe to attack you. You can use Sand-Attack to confuse it.” Gary commanded.
“Pi!”
Ash’s Pidgeotto didn't hesitate. It immediately flew towards the Growlithe, flying above it.
The Growlithe’s body constantly twitched. It wanted to use Rock Throw, but Confuse Ray had sealed that move. It wanted to jump up and attack Pidgeotto, but it couldn’t jump high enough.
“Mi-goro!”
In its rage, the Growlithe used Anger Fist again.
“15 times.”
Each time the Growlithe used Anger Fist, Gary would record it.
Ash and the others didn't know what Gary was doing, but seeing him count the number of times the Growlithe used Anger Fist, they could tell he was trying to get the Growlithe to use Anger Fist over and over.
Pidgeotto would occasionally be hit by the Growlithe’s Cross Chop, but it was nothing serious. The goal was to force the Growlithe to use Anger Fist, to just wear it down.
“16 times!”
“17 times!”
“18 times!”
“19…!”
After more than ten minutes, the Growlithe finally used Anger Fist 19 times. However, on its way to 20, Pidgeotto couldn't hold on anymore. It was grabbed by the Growlithe, thrown to the ground with a Rock Throw, and fainted.
“Pidgeotto, come back.” Ash reacted quickly, recalling Pidgeotto.
“Pidgeotto, you’re up!”
Ash’s Pidgeotto had fallen, so Gary’s Pidgeotto took its place.
“So you borrowed my Pidgeotto because it can resist Anger Fist?” Ash finally understood why Gary had borrowed his Pidgeotto. This was really a thankless task.
Pidgeotto knew what Gary wanted to do and immediately rushed towards the Growlithe, tempting it to attack.
The Growlithe was burning with rage. Why were there just birds, and how were they endless?
“Mi-goro!”
In an instant, the gloomy, dark energy surrounding the Growlithe violently retracted. All the energy concentrated on the surface of its body, its eyes completely replaced by red pupils.
