Chapter 52
Subduing the Monkey Monster

“Jii!!”

The monkey Pokémon, though immobilized, was still struggling desperately, its body trembling continuously, indicating it was using a great deal of strength.

“Calm it down, use hypnosis,” Xiaomo ordered.

“Yedan!”

The Yedan Tree placed the monkey Pokémon before it, its three heads releasing hypnosis waves simultaneously.

“Jii...”

Affected by the hypnosis waves, the angry monkey Pokémon’s rage instantly faded, its eyelids started drooping, and it fell asleep after only a short struggle.

“Looks like it doesn’t have the Guts ability,” Xiaomo said.

The first ability in the monkey Pokémon’s base abilities was Guts. Pokémon with the Guts ability are immune to hypnosis.

This confirmed that the monkey Pokémon in front of him was most likely the one Xiazhi had captured, but it would still need to be captured again before it could be confirmed.

Xiazhi’s monkey Pokémon knew quite a few powerful moves, like Play Rough and Million Ton Kick, all moves with power above 100.

Seeing the monkey Pokémon asleep, Xiaomo did not have the Yedan Tree continue attacking and threw a Poké Ball towards it.

Bang!

The Poké Ball hit the monkey Pokémon, successfully capturing it.

Using a Poké Ball on a sleeping Pokémon, just like capturing one after a losing battle, there is little resistance. However, it’s best to let them fall asleep during a battle, as it makes wild Pokémon feel like they’ve been defeated, leading to higher obedience.

However, as Xiaomo walked over to pick up the Poké Ball, a sound came from his pocket.

“Your carrying capacity has reached the limit. Any additional Pokémon caught will be automatically sent to Professor Oak's lab.”

The next second, the Poké Ball in Xiaomo’s hand disappeared.

“Ah, I forgot my carrying capacity was full.”

Xiaomo slapped his forehead, forgetting that he already had six Pokémon. If he kept catching more, they would be sent to Professor Oak’s lab.

“Xiaomo, should we send it to Yuhong City?” Nashi asked.

There were no teleporters in the wild. To bring the monkey Pokémon along, he could only send it there via a teleporter.

“Hmm, I’ll call Grandpa first.”

Xiaomo nodded, but decided to call Professor Oak first. After all, he wasn’t sure about the monkey Pokémon’s temperament.

Xiaomo took out his phone and dialed Professor Oak’s lab.

“Hello, it’s Xiaomo. I’ve received the Pokémon you sent over. What kind of Pokémon did you catch?” Professor Oak asked as soon as he picked up the phone.

Professor Oak was very concerned about his grandson. Everyone else had sent back several Pokémon, while Xiaomo had only sent back one, a Shiny Butterfree. It wasn’t really anything worth observing.

When he saw the Pokémon being sent over, Professor Oak thought it was from the other two trainers, not expecting it to be from Xiaomo.

Professor Oak was just about to see what Pokémon it was when Xiaomo called.

“It’s nothing rare, just a monkey Pokémon. It seems like it has a bit of a temper, so I’m worried it might cause some trouble for you, Grandpa. I just wanted to let you know,” Xiaomo said.

“Xiaomo, you underestimate your Grandpa too much. Your Grandpa was a trainer back in the day. A mere monkey Pokémon, do you think I can’t handle it?” Professor Oak said in dissatisfaction.

“Since you said so, Grandpa, then I was overthinking it.” Xiaomo said.

Professor Oak did not continue to pursue the matter and continued, “Where are you traveling to now?”

“I’m currently heading towards Yuhong City.”

“Oh, Yuhong City, how many badges have you earned so far?”

“Five badges.”

“Five badges already, you’re really fast. Little Orange and Little Yellow only have three badges,” Professor Oak exclaimed in mild surprise.

“Of course, I’m going to become a Pokémon Master, collecting badges is nothing, it’s easy,” Xiaomo boasted.

“You’re quite the arrogant young man, go to Yuhong City quickly. You’re planning on training this monkey Pokémon yourself, right?” Professor Oak said.

“Yes, so Grandpa, take care of yourself. I’ll call you again when I reach Yuhong City.”

......!

Xiaomo and Nashi continued their journey.

The next morning, they finally arrived at Yuhong City.

They arrived at the Yuhong City Pokémon Center and entrusted their Pokémon to Nurse Joy for maintenance.

Xiaomo took the Yedan Tree with him and headed towards the Pokémon Exchange machine.

Because he wanted to train the monkey Pokémon, Xiaomo planned to send the Yedan Tree to Professor Oak’s lab.

The Yedan Tree was already fully grown, the only thing left was training. He just needed to create a training plan for the Pokémon and have someone supervise their training.

He had already talked to the Yedan Tree about this.

He dialed Professor Oak’s lab.

“Xiaomo, that monkey Pokémon of yours has great potential,” Professor Oak answered the phone, knowing that Xiaomo was calling to teleport a Pokémon. He had also checked the monkey Pokémon and could see its great potential.

“Yeah, I’m going for the Elite route, I don’t plan on training Pokémon with low potential...wait, Grandpa, why are you wearing sunglasses indoors???” Xiaomo said, noticing Professor Oak wearing sunglasses. Professor Oak usually didn’t wear sunglasses.

“Cough, cough, it’s nothing, I just have pink eye and I don’t want to infect you.” Professor Oak said casually.

Xiaomo: ???

Pink eye… it’s true that it can be contagious, but can it be contagious through a screen?

“Then Grandpa, send the monkey Pokémon over.” Xiaomo said.

“Alright,” Professor Oak didn’t say anything else, placed the Poké Ball on the teleporter on his side, and pressed the teleport button.

“Yedan Tree, listen to Grandpa’s instructions. You’ll also be responsible for supervising Grandpa’s sleep.” Xiaomo also placed the Poké Ball on the groove.

Professor Oak: ???

A Butterfree isn’t enough to supervise him, now there’s a Yedan Tree too.

Grandson, I’m a good sleeper.

After getting the monkey Pokémon, Xiaomo went to the common area and released the monkey Pokémon.

“Jii!”

The monkey Pokémon saw Xiaomo and immediately climbed onto Xiaomo’s shoulder. It really admired this trainer.

When it came out of the Poké Ball and saw Professor Oak, it had beaten Professor Oak up. If it weren’t for the Butterfree watching over, Professor Oak wouldn’t have simply been wearing sunglasses.

“How was your day at my Grandpa’s?” Xiaomo asked.

“Jii.”

The monkey Pokémon said it was good, it got to vent its anger on someone and then had a good sleep.

“Looks like you got along well with my Grandpa.”

Xiaomo couldn’t understand what the monkey Pokémon was saying, but it looked happy, so it should have been a pleasant experience.

“Jii!”

The monkey Pokémon nodded with a smile, it was naturally optimistic.

“Right, I still haven’t checked your stats yet.” Xiaomo had wanted to check, but it had been sent away as soon as he captured it.
