Chapter 22
Magnetic Manipulation, Mami Nakagoka

Engaging his high-speed thinking, Lu Wen tried to utilize his magnetic attribute.

He stretched out his hand towards the steel ball in front of him, reinforcing his mental suggestion.

Magnetic energy surged out, connecting Lu Wen and the steel ball. Then, like a crane, he lifted the steel ball into the air.

Seeing this, Lu Wen felt a bit strange: “Am I becoming a crane? Or is this the wrong way to use the magnetic attribute?”

Speaking of magnetic abilities, Lu Wen immediately thought of "Magneto", the master of magnetism.

But Magneto's use of magnetism was also like a large crane, all about brute force and flinging bricks, without any delicate manipulation.

The use of magnetism in other movies and animations was similar, primarily magnetizing metal and then controlling these magnetized metals to attack enemies.

Electromagnetic cannons were one of the more refined techniques.

Lu Wen gathered his thoughts and stopped overthinking. Having grasped the magnetic attribute, he once again tried using a coil to accelerate. Energy flowed more smoothly between electricity and magnetism, and the energy loss was greatly reduced.

With a thought, he constructed a coil acceleration structure, grabbed a handful of steel balls, and launched them at a rate of one per second.

Preliminary calculations showed that the steel balls reached a speed of over a thousand meters per second, their power comparable to heavy sniper rifles.

With a generator supplying electricity, Lu Wen could continuously launch this kind of attack.

As for ammunition, he didn't need to worry. He could multi-task, using magnetic force to gather metal from the surrounding environment and launch it as projectiles.

He could also lower the power, activating multi-tasking to build multiple coil acceleration structures, firing ten rounds of rifle-powered bullets per second.

“With this ability, I can definitely protect myself in most worlds,” Lu Wen thought to himself.

This electromagnetic acceleration structure was a growth-type skill, with the power of the launched bullets increasing as Lu Wen's strength grew. It could accompany him for a long time.

Lu Wen and his companions searched for materials in the electrical appliance store. Outside, the Yin Spirit Warriors he had released continued to kill enemies.

This was the commercial district, with shops lining the streets. Some survivors had also managed to survive.

Hearing the commotion outside, they curiously came to the windows to observe, praying it was the official rescue force from Neon City.

But upon seeing a group of warriors clad in ancient armor clearing tens of thousands of zombies in the commercial district, they were stunned.

The survivors in the mall chatted amongst themselves in hushed tones.

“Who are these people, why are they all wearing ancient armor?”

“Does Bedou City have a wealthy collector who also loves making armor? Otherwise, how could there be so many ancient armor pieces?”

“They aren’t the official rescue force, but they cleared the zombies. If we set up defenses, we can stay here safely and wait for rescue.”

The survivors were discussing enthusiastically, but none of them offered to help.

Nakagaki Mami, the traffic policewoman among the survivors, was unhappy with the behavior of these survivors, but she couldn’t do anything.

She went to the window to observe and quickly noticed the strange aspects of the warriors in full armor.

Those armors looked incredibly strong and heavy.

But these warriors could leap a long distance with just a gentle push off the ground, their movements seemed light and airy.

Moreover, their fighting style also didn't resemble that of humans. They kept their bodies low, only their weapon-wielding hands were not touching the ground, their style was wild and ferocious.

Ordinary people might find this odd, but at most, they would assume it was some unique swordsmanship style and wouldn’t think much more of it.

Nakagaki Mami observed carefully and soon discovered the three individuals at the center of the armored warriors.

“This young man, is he the one controlling these warriors? And is there any connection between him and this zombie outbreak?” Nakagaki Mami had many questions in her mind.

The zombie outbreak came too suddenly. Most people in the world were unprepared and began their arduous struggle for survival in the apocalypse.

Although the apocalypse had only begun less than a day ago, and Nakagaki Mami hadn’t been maintaining order among the survivors in the mall for long, she already felt exhausted physically and mentally.

Order had collapsed, the morality in people’s hearts no longer had the law to constrain it, negative emotions were magnified infinitely. Everyone wanted to live, conflicts among each other were inevitable.

Some had lost the will to live, and the evil in their hearts grew, they thought about whether they could have a little fun before dying.

For these reasons, even in this small mall, with less than a hundred survivors, Nakagaki Mami, who used to be a police officer, felt endless exhaustion as she maintained order.

“If I join this strong man’s side, using his power to intimidate them, perhaps I can easily maintain some order?” Nakagaki Mami thought.

She acted immediately, leaving the safety of the mall and preparing to approach Lu Wen.

Outside, the Yin Spirit Warriors were cleaning up the zombies. The Yin Spirit Warriors could distinguish between humans and zombies, so Nakagaki Mami didn’t encounter any danger and arrived in front of Lu Wen smoothly.

“Sir, hello. I am Nakagaki Mami, a traffic police officer. Will you clear all the zombies around here?” Nakagaki Mami asked, summoning her courage.

Another character from the original plot. Lu Wen casually replied: “We’re just passing through. We cleared the zombies because they were in our way.”

Upon hearing this, Nakagaki Mami was disappointed. Her plan to use Lu Wen’s influence to maintain order hadn’t even been uttered before it failed.

Lu Wen didn’t have any plans to stay.

However, she still had hope and pleaded: “Sir, there are many survivors in the mall. Could you please help them and take them to the survivor base established by the Takagi family?”

Communication hadn’t been completely cut off, so Nakagaki Mami still had some knowledge about the situation outside.

After the zombie crisis broke out yesterday, Bedou City's real emergency forces were all mobilized to maintain order at the airport.

Ordinary police were maintaining order in the city. Most of the police officers participated in maintaining order on the bridge yesterday afternoon. They attracted too many zombies and were wiped out all at once.

“Police officer, do you think I should save these people?” Lu Wen suddenly asked. He was curious how this character from the original plot would respond.

Nakagaki Mami hesitated for a moment, then said: “Whether to rescue them depends on your ability and willingness. I certainly wouldn’t force you to do so.”

This was her true thought. Nakagaki Mami understood that she didn’t have the strength to force Lu Wen to help.

Lu Wen became interested in the woman in front of him. In this apocalyptic environment, Nakagaki Mami didn’t use her police identity to force and command others, nor did she abandon those ordinary people.

She had a sense of justice but was reasonable, she had the insight to know when to assess the situation.

She was clever and flexible. If she could be recruited, she would definitely be a capable subordinate.
