“You really won’t listen.”
Seeing that the Bull Demon was so bold, the young man drew his sword, gently swinging it in a single stroke. Immediately, a sword light shot towards the Bull Demon.
“Clang!!!”
Sensing the threat, the Bull Demon’s eyes narrowed sharply. He quickly raised the long blade in his hand to block in front of him. A crisp sound rang out, and the Bull Demon’s blade shattered. The sword light, however, continued unabated.
Seeing that the sword light was about to strike him, the Bull Demon raised his hand, and a demonic energy spider leg appeared before him. It only blocked for a moment before disintegrating, but it bought him time to dodge away.
“Hmm?”
Seeing the Bull Demon’s reaction, Nakano Yu raised an eyebrow, somewhat surprised that the Bull Demon was able to dodge.
“I’ve lost. What you do next, I’ll gladly accept.”
After dodging the attack, the Bull Demon touched the mark on his cheek that was left by the sword light, his expression grave.
The young man before him was, without a doubt, the strongest human the Bull Demon had ever encountered, even surpassing Nura Rikuo!
“I have no grievance with you. I came up the mountain because this guy attacked my friend. I’m here to seek an explanation.”
The Bull Demon softened his tone. Nakano Yu didn’t press him further, putting away his Guilty Juyas and getting down to business.
“What do you mean?”
The Bull Demon frowned slightly. He remembered that Ushitora Maru and Matoura Maru had gone to find Nura Rikuo. Why would they attack the young man’s friend?
“Why don’t you let him explain it.”
After speaking, Nakano Yu turned to Matoura Maru.
At this moment, Matoura Maru was still immersed in the shock and fear of his Bull Demon leader not even being able to withstand a single blow from Nakano Yu. He had no idea what was going on.
“Matoura Maru, aren’t you going to explain yourself?”
Seeing Matoura Maru gaping, speechless, the Bull Demon coldly asked.
“Ah! Bull… Bull Demon Lord! It’s… Actually, we didn’t expect that the people with Nura Rikuo… were acquainted with this… Lord. We were just planning on bringing a few of Nura Rikuo’s friends up the mountain.”
Coming back to his senses, Matoura Maru quickly explained, afraid of causing further trouble for the Bull Demon.
Hearing this, the Bull Demon nodded.
After listening to Matoura Maru’s explanation, Nakano Yu was helpless. When he knew he was coming to Meru Garden, he had guessed that he might encounter Nura Rikuo’s group here. After all, in terms of being reckless, Seijiro Kiyotsugu and those guys were definitely top contenders.
“Today’s incident is my Bull Demon gang’s fault. Please forgive us, Lord. You can take my life, but please spare Ushitora Maru and Matoura Maru! I beg you!”
Just as Nakano Yu was distracted, thinking about where Nura Rikuo might be, the Bull Demon’s voice came through. As he turned his head, he saw the Bull Demon “thud” down on his knees, apologizing to Nakano Yu with a formal Japanese apology.
Seeing the Bull Demon in this state, the young man frowned. The Bull Demon he had in mind wasn’t the kind of demon who would soften when faced with a stronger opponent. He was a real fighter for the Nura clan!
Only Nakano Yu had overlooked one thing: in the presence of slightly stronger power, everyone would think there was still a glimmer of hope. But in the face of absolute power, that glimmer of hope was left to the protagonist. Clearly, the Bull Demon wasn’t the protagonist.
“Forget it. I don’t know how to communicate with you guys who have lived for hundreds of years. For seven days, keep the demons of your Bull Demon gang under control and don’t let them go down the mountain.”
Seeing the Bull Demon like this, Nakano Yu lost the desire to pursue it. This guy’s goal was Nura Rikuo. He didn’t know Nura Rikuo well.
“I understand.”
Hearing this, the Bull Demon raised his head and saw that Matoura Maru had been thrown in front of him at some point, while the young man had already leaped onto the head of the nearby ox-headed demon.
“I don’t care about your business with the Nura clan’s young master, but don’t let me see you hurt my friends, or else!”
Nakano Yu’s eyes narrowed. As his words fell, his Demon King’s aura unfolded, as if instantly sucking all the air out of Meru Temple, making it extremely difficult to breathe.
Under this terrifying pressure, Matoura Maru’s head tilted, he lost consciousness, and foamed at the mouth, lying on the ground.
“This is a warning.”
After saying this, the young man kicked the demon under him. The demon understood immediately and quickly regained his composure, shaking his legs and carrying the young man down the mountain.
After Nakano Yu left, the Bull Demon looked at Matoura Maru who was foaming at the mouth, a mixture of emotions swirling within him.
For thousands of years, humans had been nothing but weak beings to him. Even the human who had ruled over the Onmyouji and the Hyakki Yakou a thousand years ago was just a mix of demon and human.
But now, a pure human, possessed such terrifying power. His aura alone had terrified him, making him sweat cold all over.
Perhaps, he should no longer view humans through the lens of the past.
...
“Hey! Everyone, those who are in the same group, stand together in pairs! After the previous group has gone for three minutes, the next group can start!”
In front of the inn’s courtyard, the head of the General Affairs, Takao, came to the group of students gathered in the small wooden hut. These students were all participating in the test of courage, wanting to prove their courage.
At the front of the crowd, naturally, was the well-known “popular” group from Takao General Affairs. Leading the way was naturally the football ace, Hayato Yamashita!
Speaking of which, Hayato Yamashita lived up to the title of “popular” leader. He had platinum blonde hair, a handsome face, and a sunny, youthful aura. His “popular” status could be seen at a glance. Only, Hayato Yamashita was frowning now, as if worried about something.
“Sho, are you sure the route you gave us is okay?”
Standing next to his good friend, Sho Tobe, Hayato Yamashita asked with some worry.
“Don’t worry, Yamashita, this time the route is just going around the inn, it won’t be too far.”
Sho Tobe, who was holding a loudspeaker and organizing the students, turned around and waved his hand, saying.
“No, I mean that special activity. Miss Hiratsuka has explicitly forbidden going to the fourth floor, right?”
Hayato Yamashita furrowed his brow and said.
Actually, there were two parts to the test of courage event this time. One was the ordinary part of walking around the inn, during which there would be students disguised as monsters to scare the passersby. The other part, was a rumor that Sho Tobe and a few others had heard somewhere in the inn.
It was a legend about a room on the fourth floor of the inn that sealed an evil spirit. According to this guy’s plan, he wanted a few students to go up and explore.
“Oh, the fourth floor? Don’t worry, when we first arrived at the inn, I went up with a few classmates. It’s just a normal corridor, nothing there. There’s just a door that’s been sealed with a talisman.”
Sho Tobe suddenly realized, explaining.
“You guys didn’t tear off the talisman, did you?”
Hearing this, Hayato Yamashita grabbed Sho Tobe’s shoulder and pressed, asking.
“Hahaha! Sho, you’re too nervous. We’ve been watching horror movies for so many years, we wouldn’t do something that stupid! We just went up to the fourth floor and came back down. Speaking of which, when we went up before, there was an old rope that tripped me!”
Seeing Hayato Yamashita so serious, Sho Tobe was stunned for a moment, then burst out laughing, reassuring him.
“You didn’t tear off the talisman? That’s good. But I think it’s better to skip the part about going to the fourth floor.”
Hayato Yamashita breathed a sigh of relief, but still said with some fear.
“Don’t worry, nothing’s going to happen.”
Giving Hayato Yamashita a reassuring look, Sho Tobe picked up the loudspeaker and shouted:
“Now, the test of courage officially begins!”
