Chapter 25
The Visible Girl, Miura Yumiko Feels Wronged

“Whoosh, whoosh, whoosh~"

The sky seemed to have suffered a great injustice, and the bean-sized raindrops fell from the high sky, like countless crystals smashing against the ground, shattering into dust.

“Ah~ I’m soaked through, it just started raining so heavily, what a pain.”

At the bus stop in Ukiyoe Five Streets, a black-haired girl wearing a Totsuka High School uniform and carrying a single-shoulder bag let the raindrops fall on her hair. She was twisting her already drenched skirt.

The girl’s black hair reached her shoulders. It was naturally smooth and silky, but now, because it was wet, it clung to her body. The white shirt beneath was also faintly translucent.

“Ding dong~"

As she finished twisting her skirt, a message notification sounded from her bag. The girl quickly pulled out her phone and opened it.

【Hua: Jian Zi, are you okay? Didn’t get wet, right?】

On the phone screen, a person with a rabbit avatar had sent a message.

Seeing this, the girl smiled slightly and replied by tapping the screen of her phone:

【Lost something, going back to find it, now I’m soaked through.】

The girl’s name is Yotsuya Jian Zi, a normal high school girl from Totsuka High. The rabbit avatar who was concerned about her was Jian Zi’s good friend, Yurikawa Hua.

After replying, Jian Zi took a picture of herself drenched from head to toe and sent it over.

【Ding dong~】

As soon as she sent it, she saw that Yurikawa Hua had forwarded the photo back.

“The same picture?”

Seeing this, Yotsuya Jian Zi was puzzled, not understanding what Yurikawa Hua was up to.

But before Jian Zi could send a message asking, another identical photo was forwarded.

“Hmm? What’s going on?”

Seeing this, Jian Zi became even more puzzled. But then, a series of notifications sounded, and her phone screen was constantly bombarded with her own photos:

“Ding dong!”

“Ding dong!”

The messages came faster and faster, and Jian Zi couldn’t help but feel a rising fear.

One photo after another was sent, and the phone screen even started to distort.

Just as Jian Zi thought that Yurikawa Hua was playing a prank on her, a ghost face suddenly appeared on her phone, constantly popping up with her pictures.

“Ah!”

Startled by the ghost face, Yotsuya Jian Zi’s hand went limp, and she dropped her phone, taking a few steps back, almost falling over.

Taking a deep breath, the girl looked around. The rain-shrouded street was still empty, and under the gloomy sky, Yotsuya Jian Zi actually felt a little scared.

“I… I must have seen wrong?”

After calming down, Yotsuya Jian Zi looked at her phone and mumbled, but she still stood there for a while before picking up her phone.

【Hua: Jian Zi, where are you? Do you need me to bring an umbrella?】

Trembling, she opened her phone. The screen no longer showed the endless photos and terrifying ghost face. All that was left was her friend’s concern for her.

Seeing this, the girl became even more certain that she had seen wrong, and she felt relieved.

“I guess I was too tired today?”

Saying this, Yotsuya Jian Zi rubbed her eyes. She hadn’t gotten enough rest for the past two days, and now she was even having hallucinations.

Thinking this, she closed her eyes and relaxed for a moment. Jian Zi opened her eyes refreshingly, but the ghost face that immediately appeared in front of her made the girl freeze in place.

At that moment, Jian Zi even forgot to scream, and she stood there stiffly.

“Can you see me?”

The terrifying creature, two meters tall with a lower body covered in deep gray arms, stood in front of Jian Zi, blocking her path. Its black mouth was open, uttering a chilling murmur.

“......”

Looking at the monster, Jian Zi remained expressionless and didn’t even speak.

“You, can you see me?”

Seeing that the girl didn’t respond, the monster twisted its head and leaned closer. This time, the murmuring question was right next to her ear, and Jian Zi couldn’t possibly not hear it.

But facing this, Jian Zi simply turned her head to look at the distance and mumbled:

“Ah~ So slow, why hasn’t the bus come yet?”

This behavior left the monster confused. It took a deep look at the girl, then dragged its massive body, turning around and disappearing into the rain curtain with its murmurs:

“Can’t see… she can’t see…”

After the monster left, the girl lowered her head and looked at her phone. Tears were already welling up in her eyes, and her other hand tightly gripped her skirt:

“I can see! I can see… very clearly!”

“Ah~ Today’s mission was surprisingly easy, I didn’t even need to use weapons.”

In an abandoned factory, with a lighthearted and disdainful tone, Nakano Yu kicked his target for today’s mission, causing it to explode.

After completing the mission, Nakano Yu received a reward from the system: a chance to draw a lottery.

After doing all this, the boy held an umbrella and left the factory along a small path. After passing through a small alley, Nakano Yu returned to the street.

Nakano Yu didn’t actually come out for the mission. He was out to buy groceries because the food at home ran out. The system mission refreshed by chance, so he did it on the way.

Thinking about his groceries still waiting, Nakano Yu didn’t hesitate and walked in the direction of the supermarket.

After buying his groceries and leaving the supermarket, the rain had already subsided. Seeing this, Nakano Yu found a secluded spot to put away his groceries and walked towards home in the drizzle.

While walking, Nakano Yu suddenly stopped, his brow slightly furrowed:

“Hmm?”

He heard crying. It was very faint, just sniffling, but… Nakano Yu recognized the voice.

Following the direction from which the sound came, the boy’s gaze fell upon a small pavilion in the park next to the road.

Seeing the figure sitting in the pavilion, Nakano Yu sighed helplessly. He was about to leave, but his nosy nature urged him towards the pavilion.

......

“Really, why won’t this rain stop?!”

Under the pavilion, Miura Yumiko sat on the bench, watching the relentless drizzle, her eyes red and tearful as she grumbled.

As she spoke, Miura Yumiko instinctively stomped her foot, but the intense pain in her ankle made her gasp, and she quickly covered her foot with her hand:

“Hiss~ It hurts! Why am I so unlucky today?”

Miura Yumiko was in a bad mood today, not because of Nakano Yu’s rejection of her invitation, but because after school, her friends had left without waiting for her!

They said they didn’t have enough umbrellas and left first, but clearly… she had an umbrella too…

Thinking about it, Miura Yumiko looked at the cat-shaped umbrella next to her, becoming more and more annoyed. She wanted to kick it with her foot, but thinking of her sprained ankle, she retracted her foot.

Pouting, Miura Yumiko continued waiting for the rain to stop. Just then, a voice sounded from behind her:

“What’s the matter, injured?”

“None of your business! I warn you, my friends will be here soon. Don’t bother…”

Hearing someone hitting on her even at this time, Miura Yumiko, already in a bad mood, couldn’t possibly give anyone a good face. Wiping away her tears, she pretended to be fierce, turned her head, and saw a figure that surprised her greatly.

......
