Gaia’s small, white fingers shot up, a smug look on her face.
“Hey, I have an idea.”
Lin Xuan looked over with curiosity. He was eager to hear what kind of suggestion Gaia could come up with.
“Just have Alaya monitor Lin Xuan to prevent him from doing anything that would harm this world, wouldn't that work?”
With that said, Gaia's round eyes darted back and forth between Lin Xuan and Alaya. A triumphant expression spread across her face. Clearly, she was quite pleased with her idea.
Alaya pondered for a moment.
“That's a good idea.”
She nodded. With her watching, Lin Xuan shouldn't be able to do anything too excessive.
Seeing this, Lin Xuan shrugged.
“I don't mind. If you both agree, then so be it.”
“Then it's settled!”
Gaia clapped her small hands in delight. It was as if she had just solved some great problem and breathed a sigh of relief.
Lin Xuan’s eyes twinkled. He seemed to have thought of something rather amusing. In that instant, he had a sudden urge to go take a look at the Fourth Holy Grail War.
It would be quite entertaining to let Tokiomi Tohsaka see his own daughter, wouldn’t it?
With a mischievous grin, he turned to Gaia and Alaya.
“Speaking of which, you both made so many demands. So, it wouldn't be unreasonable for you to fulfill one of my requests, right?”
Lin Xuan blinked his eyes as he looked at Gaia and Alaya. A bad feeling crept into Alaya’s heart.
She instinctively wanted to refuse Lin Xuan, but Gaia, ever the impulsive one, readily agreed.
“No problem! You made all these concessions, so it's only fair that we agree to one of your requests.”
Gaia thumped her chest with a resounding pat. Alaya sighed at the sight. Gaia was alright, but she was just a bit too naive.
Seeing Lin Xuan’s mischievous grin, she knew he wouldn't be asking for anything simple.
“I want to go see the past. No problem, right? This should be pretty easy for you both to do, wouldn’t it?”
Hearing Lin Xuan’s request, Gaia and Alaya exchanged glances. They both saw “disagree” written in the other’s eyes.
“No way!”
“That’s right! While doing this might be simple, the potential consequences are troublesome. That’s the past, not some parallel world. If it was a parallel world, we wouldn’t care. But this is different.”
Alaya looked at Lin Xuan with a sour expression.
She could tell Lin Xuan wouldn’t ask for anything simple, but she never expected him to come up with such an outrageous request!
That was the past! Making even the slightest changes in the past could drastically alter the future! This was about the entire world.
Lin Xuan’s eyes narrowed, and his threat was unmistakable.
“Oh really? But Gaia promised me this. As two of this world’s major restraining forces, you wouldn't want to go back on your word, would you? I can’t guarantee what I’ll do if you do.”
“You… you’re being a bully!”
Little Gaia puffed out her cheeks. She pointed at Lin Xuan with a furious expression, her eyes glistening with tears. They shimmered, as if on the verge of overflowing.
Lin Xuan shrugged.
“I don’t care. You promised, so you have to do it.”
“Sigh.”
Alaya sighed. She knew that letting Gaia agree so easily would cause trouble.
“But this affects the entire operation of our world. You know we can't just let you do whatever you want.”
Alaya calmly looked at Lin Xuan.
“Why don't you ask for something else? We can accept anything as long as it's not too outrageous.”
“Yeah, as long as it’s not too outrageous, we’ll accept it. Do you really want to make a mess of everything?”
As soon as Alaya spoke, Gaia, like she’d found a leader, nodded, pecking her head like a chick eating grain.
She was the will of this world. If Lin Xuan messed things up, it was the same as messing her up.
“That’s my only condition. I just want to take someone back to the past. It won't have any impact on the future. Besides, even if you disagree, I can go back to the past on my own.”
Lin Xuan shook his head, indicating that it was non-negotiable.
But Alaya's expression grew even worse.
“You’re actually thinking about taking a resident of the future back to the past? Do you have any idea how much impact that would have on our world?”
Alaya felt like she was about to burst into laughter at Lin Xuan's audacity. She told him to ask for something simpler, and yet he came up with a condition even worse than the last.
Taking someone from the future back to the past? Why not bring some dinosaurs from the Jurassic period to the present day?
If Lin Xuan knew what Alaya was thinking, he would probably say something like, “Good idea.”
To be fair, after Lin Xuan killed a god of time and gained the ability to control time, he really did do some mind-boggling things.
He had brought a saber-toothed tiger from the Ice Age back to the present as a pet and had even traveled to the future.
However, there was no trace of him in the future world of 弑神者. And nothing really interested him, so he just returned.
After he grew tired of those things, he never had any more strange ideas like that.
It was only this time, when he came to Rin Tohsaka’s world, that he had the sudden urge to take Rin back in time to participate in the Fourth Holy Grail War and then beat up Tokiomi Tohsaka.
After all, it was all Tohsaka’s fault!
Since the timeline had already passed, he couldn’t see Tohsaka anymore. So what if he reversed time?
“So you’re saying you disagree?”
Lin Xuan crossed his arms and looked at them with a detached gaze.
“Yes! I disagree! It’s not you who’s going to get messed up. Of course, you think it’s no big deal...”
Gaia’s voice grew quieter as she saw the increasingly fierce look in Lin Xuan’s eyes. She quietly retreated behind Alaya.
“Since you don’t understand, then this Demon King knows a thing or two about martial arts. Come on, let me witness your prowess.”
Lin Xuan struck a pose, his face contorted in an extremely cheesy expression.
“You… Lin Xuan, you’re a bad guy! You just know how to use this to threaten us! Gaia hates you!”
Gaia suddenly became agitated. She felt that Lin Xuan had her in a bind. As long as her decisions didn’t align with his wishes, he would use this matter to control her.
Lin Xuan knew they couldn’t beat him!
Seeing this, Alaya sighed in resignation.
