Chapter 44
The Eight-Eyed Spider

Now, with the added power of his wand, he has 7 points of strength, and the range of his Slowing Spell has increased to a radius of 7 meters.

The eight-eyed spiders within 7 meters of Harry were instantly slowed down by half.

Their bodies, which were originally running quickly on eight legs, became as slow as if they were walking.

“Flames Burning!” Harry extended his wand, waved it in a circle above his head, and then swung it diagonally downwards.

A stream of flames erupted from the wand, burning in a fan shape in front of him.

Game magic currently doesn't have any area-of-effect spells, making it a bit unsuitable for dealing with these large numbers of eight-eyed spiders.

But with daily practice of spells with Professor Flitwick, his progress was significant. The Flame Charm he had practiced relentlessly was now incredibly powerful in his hands.

This is also a prerequisite spell for the Fiery Charm.

Only by mastering the Flame Charm can one learn the more powerful Fiery Charm, which inflicts negative magic.

The Flame Charm unleashed by Harry was incredibly hot, causing the air above to distort instantly, with waves of heat rolling out.

The eight-eyed spiders in front were twisted in agony in the flames, but soon turned into black charcoal.

“Magic Sword.” Harry directed a Magic Sword towards the eight-eyed spiders above him, who were trying to attack him using their webs.

With the power boost of 7 points, the eight-eyed spiders' heads were directly pierced.

They fell to the ground, their limbs twitching involuntarily.

The power of the Flame Charm in front was still ongoing, and the eight-eyed spiders could only attack Harry from the left and right.

But this meant Harry was facing fewer eight-eyed spiders at a time.

The Magic Sword was enough to deal with them.

Moreover, whenever he saw multiple eight-eyed spiders enter his 5-meter range, he would use the Slowing Spell. The speed of the spiders in front would slow down, and the spiders behind wouldn't be able to brake in time, causing them to crash into the spiders in front.

Harry didn't even need to move, they would just mess themselves up.

After eliminating this wave of fearless eight-eyed spiders, Harry canceled all his magic.

Including the flames of the Flame Charm. In essence, they were all a bunch of spells. Unless they were attached to combustible materials, they would only become real flames when the magic dissipated, burning the trees that were set ablaze. These were not magical flames, just ordinary ones, which Harry couldn't cancel.

Faced with this situation, Harry effortlessly used "Spring of Water", extinguishing the flames.

Harry wouldn't set fire to the forest.

“Who's there?!” As Harry extinguished the trees that were set ablaze, a rough voice came from behind.

Accompanied by a heavy sound of hooves.

“Centaur?” Harry glanced at the source, continuing to extinguish the remaining flames. He wouldn't take this lightly, as a single spark could start a forest fire.

He had to make sure they were completely extinguished.

A mere Centaur couldn't do anything to him. If he wanted to leave, he could simply put on the Invisibility Cloak, and no one would be able to find him.

Harry discovered that this Invisibility Cloak was far more effective than those on the market.

It didn't seem to be made from the fur of an Invisibility Beast at all.

Otherwise, the difference wouldn't be so significant.

Moreover, Centaurs were not off-limits to killing!

The sound of hooves drew closer, and Harry slowly turned his head to face the source.

His upper body was that of a man, handsome, with strikingly blue eyes and platinum hair that shone in the moonlight. His lower body was that of a silver horse, with a silver tail.

He was a handsome Centaur.

“A Hogwarts wizard?” The Centaur saw Harry as well, and his originally stern expression softened slightly.

“Stay right there, Mr. Centaur. There's no need for us to get too close.” Seeing that the Centaur was about to come closer.

Harry raised his wand and pointed it at him.

While he didn't sense any malice from the Centaur, it's always better to be safe than sorry. Maintaining a safe distance would be good for both of them.

Sure enough, the Centaur stopped approaching after hearing Harry's words.

He looked around at the scene surrounding Harry.

Numerous charred eight-eyed spiders, and trees that had been extinguished by water.

With only Harry standing there, it was clear who had done all this.

“A powerful little wizard.” The Centaur complimented him.

“My name is Fazarlen. I'm a Centaur from the Forbidden Forest. I saw something happening here, so I came to take a look.” Fazarlen said to Harry, who was still on guard.

“I just encountered a group of eight-eyed spiders. I used magic to eliminate them.” Harry explained the situation on the ground briefly, but didn't lower his wand.

“Don't be so tense, I don't have any ill intentions towards you.” Fazarlen raised his hands to show his attitude.

Harry remained unmoved.

“Alright, a cautious little wizard indeed.” Fazarlen said helplessly.

“These eight-eyed spiders have been constantly expanding their territory recently, forcing many magical creatures to flee their habitats. They're a real nuisance. Little wizard, you've helped deal with them. I think the other magical creatures in the Forbidden Forest will be grateful to you.” Fazarlen looked at the eight-eyed spiders that had been turned into charcoal, and said to Harry.

“You're welcome. It's getting late, I have to go back.” Harry said calmly. He didn't want to interact with the other party.

He untied the Invisibility Cloak from his waist and put it on, and Harry's figure instantly disappeared from Fazarlen's sight.

Fazarlen stood silently in place, and after a while, he looked at the sky and muttered to himself, “Strange, the celestial phenomena have actually changed!”

Harry returned to the dormitory and took off the Invisibility Cloak. The encounter with the Centaur didn't bother him.

If the Centaur hadn't been harmless, Harry wouldn't have hesitated to kill him.

Gradually mastering the magic of the wizarding world, coupled with continuously upgrading and unlocking game magic, Harry's strength had improved greatly with his efforts.

But it wasn't enough. Until he reached the level of Dumbledore, he still felt insecure.

Christmas was slowly passing.

During that time, Harry was too lazy to cook another big meal. He picked up the cauldron he hadn't used for a while, and had hotpot with Ron in the dormitory every day.

Then the Weasley twins discovered it and joined in.

They knew, Percy knew, and even brought butterbeer every time they came.

Winter in the warm dormitory, eating hotpot, drinking a little wine, life couldn't have been more enjoyable.

Harry knew the Weasleys weren't wealthy, and Ron and his siblings got even less allowance.

He gave George 5 Galleons, as payment for the alcohol, and refused any more requests for it.

George initially didn't want to take it, but Harry said he had inherited the entire Potter family fortune, and the Weasley brothers silently closed their mouths.

While they didn't know how much the inheritance was, seeing the "nouveau riche" aura emanating from Harry, they were familiar with it, because they possessed the opposite aura, poverty.

This couldn't be faked.

New Year's Day ended.

The students returned to school.

Ron sighed with sadness, the blissful days were gone.

He wondered when he would be able to eat Harry's cooking again.

Ron, whose palate had been spoiled by Harry, lost 5 pounds after the start of the semester.

He silently told his spoiled tongue and stomach that this was the food they should be eating.

Stop daydreaming.
