Chapter 28
The Wife's Dilemma

In the master bedroom of the luxurious villa, a two-meter wide bed stood out prominently. Zhang Su Xi, wearing a white cotton nightgown with bright yellow polka dots, leaned against the headboard, her chin resting lightly on her bent knee.

Her right hand held her phone to her ear, as if listening to something; her left hand gently stroked the leg of her pants, which had been lifted by the movement, revealing a section of white stockings that shimmered under the light.

Her expression seemed somewhat forlorn, as if her heart was filled with helplessness and confusion. She tried to understand Cui En Hao, but she could never truly enter his inner world.

Zhang Su Xi, a woman who had never experienced love, spent her youth immersed in books, and her interactions with the opposite sex were virtually nonexistent.

After completing her studies at the institute, she unhesitatingly devoted herself to the judicial field, becoming a judge who upheld justice.

In this position, she faced crime and law every day, requiring nothing more than impartiality and strict enforcement of the law without any emotional coloring.

To her, understanding the inner world of men felt incredibly foreign.

In her daily life, her clothing was simple and unadorned. Jeans and T-shirts were her favorites, providing both comfort and simplicity.

At work, she always wore a black suit, a symbol of her role as a judge.

Those clothes in her wardrobe that looked blush-inducing were all bought reluctantly before her wedding.

She knew very little about men's fashion sense, and her mother had never taught her anything about it.

Zhang Su Xi's thoughts were racing, because her impulsive actions had landed Cui En Hao in trouble.

Only two days into their marriage, he had not returned home for two consecutive nights. Zhang Su Xi felt deeply that she had failed in her duties as a wife.

Last night, she had deliberately changed into what she thought most men would like - stockings, hoping that when Cui En Hao came home, he would be pleased and they would have more interaction, giving her a chance to learn more about him.

Faced with the possibility that her newlywed husband and his gangster father might be conspiring to deceive her, she felt she could not understand, nor accept it.

The afternoon hours were always languid. After a simple lunch, Zhang Su Xi intended to rest for a while.

However, her mind began a fierce debate. On the one hand, she wanted to firmly believe in her husband, believing that as a fair and impartial prosecutor, he always upheld justice and fairness;

On the other hand, her thoughts returned to their wedding night, those secret conversations about judicial corruption and the depravity of prosecutors, flooding her mind like a tide.

Had the Korean Peninsula's judicial system become so corrupt?

Had those who were once regarded as guardians of social justice truly become breeding grounds for corruption?

These questions burned like a bonfire in her heart.

Finally, unable to bear the agonizing pressure and confusion, Zhang Su Xi picked up her phone and dialed Cui En Hao's number.

She needed to confide, to find an outlet to release these uncontrollable emotions.

However, Cui En Hao's response was still emotionless, concise to the point of coldness.

He seemed indifferent to her inner turmoil and her desire to confide, leaving Zhang Su Xi feeling like a mouthful of words were stuck in her throat.

Their conversation was limited to a few inconsequential pleasantries, not even a single heartfelt greeting.

She felt an indescribable sense of loss, burying her face weakly into the corner formed by her knee and chest, a corner that was soft and warm.

There, she took a deep breath, trying to calm her inner turmoil.

Unexpectedly, the corner emitted a faint fragrance, causing her heart to stir slightly.

Zhang Su Xi's eyes lit up instantly. This feeling was brand new to her; she had never experienced such an aura anywhere before!

She took several more deep breaths.

Just then, the doorbell's chime rang downstairs, shattering the stillness.

Zhang Su Xi couldn't help but wonder who could be visiting at this time?

Were they coming for her, or for Cui En Hao?

With a heart full of doubts, she slowly walked down the stairs.

Reaching the front door, she carefully peeked through the peephole.

Her heart quickened slightly, as the identity of this uninvited guest surprised her.

The next moment, she opened the door without hesitation, her brow furrowed, her eyes revealing confusion and displeasure.

She asked in a low voice, "It's you! What are you doing here?"

………

………

In the dimly lit underground casino.

"Cui En Hao, you're truly vicious!"

From the other end of the phone, Che Jae Jin's roar was like thunder, forcing Cui En Hao to hold the phone away from his ear.

Did this guy have to be so loud?

Just five minutes after his call with Zhang Su Xi ended, Che Jae Jin's call came in.

Clearly, he had learned about the raid on his underground casino.

"Che President, your words leave me puzzled."

Cui En Hao simply chuckled, asking back.

"You really move fast, just a few dozen minutes and you destroyed one of my casinos!"

Che Jae Jin's anger was like a volcano erupting, impossible to contain.

"Che President, as a prosecutor, my duty is to combat crime and defend the peace of society. Isn't it better the faster, more efficient, and more effective it is?"

A mocking smile played on Cui En Hao's lips, deliberately using a provocative tone to ask.

"Sh*t! You're a f*cking hypocrite!"

Che Jae Jin couldn't bear Cui En Hao's hypocrisy and angrily berated him.

Damn it, compared to you prosecutors, those gang members are like good little kids!

"Che Chairman! I can tolerate your repeated insults to prosecutors, but you cannot question our determination to uphold the law and protect judicial justice! What is the law? Prosecutors are the law! As a citizen of the Peninsula, do you know any other laws?" Cui En Hao retracted his smile, his face turned serious, and his tone became cold.

Who knows if you're recording on your side, I won't fall for your trap, being trapped isn't comfortable.
