Chapter 50
Teacher Zeng's Nightmare

“Could it be that you’re about to be subjected to some sort of unspoken rule again?” Guan Gu asked curiously.

“Go play somewhere else. Tomorrow is the 600th episode of ‘Your Moon, My Heart.’”

Hu Yi Fei joked, “So, you’re planning on retiring at the peak of your career?”

Professor Zeng was speechless, “Retire? What’s to retire from? My career is finally taking off. Tomorrow my show will be aired in primetime, and the bigwigs will be tuning in. There’s also a heavyweight guest joining me as co-host. Celebrate with me, friends. Hahahaha.”

………

The others looked at him with indifference. He said the same thing when Lisa came last time. And what happened?

Just then, Lisa’s phone call came in. Professor Zeng walked to the side to answer it.

Wan Yu asked curiously, “Do you guys think Professor Zeng’s show will be successful this time?”

Xue Mo Yin, knowing Professor Zeng’s capabilities, twitched the corner of his mouth, “If we consider sending their boss to the hospital a success, then I think he’ll have no problem.”

Professor Zeng was practically radiating excitement. He practically bounced onto the sofa, “I asked Lisa about it earlier, and the guest this time is a famous female journalist.”

Upon hearing these two words, Zi Qiao’s mind immediately went astray, “A famous… prostitute?”

“What are you thinking about? It’s a renowned journalist? She even won the Pulitzer Prize.”

Zi Qiao gestured with his hand, “Isn’t Pulitzer a type of tire?”

Guan Gu explained, “The Pulitzer Prize is an international journalism award. It’s quite famous even in our country.”

Professor Zeng continued, “That’s right, and she’s also an invited journalist for National Geographic Magazine. It seems my show’s listenership is going to skyrocket this time.”

After he finished, Xue Mo Yin looked at him with an amused expression. He remembered who this famous journalist was. He wondered if Professor Zeng would still be this excited after he found out tomorrow.

“I won’t talk to you guys anymore. I have to go prepare properly. By the way, as your best roommate, I’ll mention you guys at the end of the show tomorrow.” With that, he hummed a Firebird song and left.

Zi Qiao shrugged, “Alright, I’m going to start my nightlife.”

He took out his phone and typed a message, “Linda, Jia Jia, Nana, Xiao Mei, let’s go!”

Guan Gu was shocked by his antics, “Zi Qiao, you’re group-messaging girls for dinner?”

“You don’t understand. This is called casting a wide net and catching plenty of fish.”

At this moment, Yi Fei’s phone suddenly rang. She picked it up and said with annoyance, “I told you what your vision is like. You even sent a message to me.”

Zi Qiao explained, “Accident, accident. I was trying to send it to Duo Duo.”

“Wait a minute, my name starts with ‘H’, and Duo Duo starts with ‘D’. There’s such a big difference. How could you misclick? Tell me, what’s my nickname in your contacts?” Hu Yi Fei noticed something amiss.

Zi Qiao was now panicking. He hurriedly said, “That, I saved your contact as ‘Big Beauty’, that’s right!”

Hu Yi Fei didn’t believe a single word he said, looking at his guilty expression. She snatched his phone, saw the words “Deadly Female Demon” on the screen, and was furious, “Lu Zi Qiao! Are you trying to die? Ah?”

Zi Qiao knew he was doomed. He quickly said, “Why don’t you look at everyone else’s phones? Zhan Bo saved you as ‘Hong Xing Thirteenth Sister’.”

Hu Yi Fei completely lost it. If Zhan Bo hadn’t been away, his legs would have been broken. Then she turned her attention to the others.

Mei Jia quickly said, “I saved you as Yi Fei Jie.”

Wan Yu followed suit, “I saved you as Fei Fei.”

“I saved you as Hu Yi Fei.”

Finally, only Xue Mo Yin remained, “I didn’t save you as anything that starts with ‘H’.”

Hu Yi Fei assumed that he was like Zi Qiao and Zhan Bo, and said to him, “Hand me your phone. If it’s anything inappropriate, you’re dead.”

Xue Mo Yin didn’t seem bothered at all. He simply tossed his phone to Hu Yi Fei.

Seeing Xue Mo Yin’s contact name, Hu Yi Fei suddenly blushed, “Get out, change it back.”

“Cut it out, not changing it.” Xue Mo Yin took back his phone. The contact name was clearly “Dearest”.

Now the others were curious, especially Mei Jia, whose gossip meter was always maxed out. “Yi Fei Jie, what did Mo Yin save you as? Let me see!”

Hu Yi Fei was naturally embarrassed to say anything, “I don’t know. I’m going back to the apartment.” With that, she glared at Xue Mo Yin, but the look in her eyes seemed to contain some shyness.

After she left, Mei Jia sat next to Xue Mo Yin, “Mo Yin, what did you save her as? Can I see?”

“Want to know?”

Mei Jia nodded earnestly.

“Not telling you.” With that, Xue Mo Yin also left.

Mei Jia sat on the sofa with a disgruntled expression, “Hmph, I’m so annoyed!”

“Alright, Mei Jia, you can guess just by looking at them. It’s probably something like ‘Dearest’,” Wan Yu understood it clearly.

The next morning, Professor Zeng purposely dressed up. He actually looked decent, as long as he didn’t make that sly expression.

A knock came from the door. Professor Zeng opened the door, and a, well, flower arrangement was brought in. “See? Fans are already sending me gifts.”

He took out the greeting card. It said, “Fate will bring us together again. It’s an honor to be your guest.”

But as Professor Zeng looked at the card, his brows grew tighter, and his expression even turned a bit panicked.

Wan Yu noticed something was wrong, “What’s wrong, Professor Zeng?”

“There’s no signature, but why do I find this handwriting increasingly familiar? “ He slowly turned the card over, and there was a symbol drawn on it.

No one else understood what it meant, but at this moment, Professor Zeng was as if his soul had flown away. He immediately threw the card aside, his entire body trembling, mumbling to himself, “It’s Laura, it must be Laura! Why? Why out of all the people, is she my guest?”

His voice was full of panic, and he was pacing anxiously back and forth.

Wan Yu felt that something was amiss and tried to persuade him, “Professor Zeng, sit down first.”

“Good idea.” He then plopped down on the floor, as if he had no strength left. He struggled to get back onto the sofa, then hugged a pillow tightly, curling up in the corner of the sofa.

“Professor Zeng, don’t rush, take your time. Who is this Laura?”

Professor Zeng’s emotions were extremely unstable, “This is complicated. I’ll make a long story short, but it’s a long story. She dumped me.”

“Oh.” Wan Yu calmly replied. She thought she was going to get some juicy gossip.

Hu Yi Fei seemed to remember something, “This Laura, wouldn’t that be the one who cheated on you?”

“She’s my nightmare. No, I feel my whole body is aching. I’m finished, I’m sick.” Professor Zeng looked as if he were completely drained of energy.

Xue Mo Yin watched helplessly. So, it seems you got a little too excited yesterday. But it seems like Laura really did a number on Professor Zeng. He felt that Professor Zeng was completely lost at the moment.

Wan Yu continued to persuade him, “It’s alright, Professor Zeng. It’s just a breakup. It’s been so many years. You can use this chance to catch up.”

“Precisely because it’s been so many years, I don’t want to see her. I was almost over it, but she had to show up at this time. As for catching up, haha, what would I catch up with her about? Reflect on the pain of my first half of life or look ahead to whether my second half of life will be even more painful?”

Professor Zeng held his head and said in pain, “We were together for eight years, and she told me, ‘You’re a good person, you’re actually very talented, you should…’”

“You should find a better girl to be with. Come on, all these years, the line hasn’t changed at all.” Before Professor Zeng could finish, Xue Mo Yin said the rest.

Wan Yu rolled her eyes at Xue Mo Yin, “Professor Zeng, think about it. Eight years is a long time for a girl too.”

Professor Zeng laughed sarcastically, “I agree, especially since I later found out that during those eight years we were together, she was cheating on me for six of them!”
