Chapter 13
A Shift in Mindset

Ziqiao wasn't mistaken, the villa was indeed in the midst of a fight, or rather, a one-sided massacre. A group of ordinary people wouldn't stand a chance against well-trained mercenaries armed to the teeth.

Looking at the bodies strewn across the ground, Hu Yi Fei's face turned pale. She fought back the urge to vomit. Seeing death in person was drastically different from watching it on TV. And being shot wasn't just a tiny hole like they showed on screen. The smallest wound inflicted by a rifle was the size of a bowl, the blood splattered everywhere, the bodies mutilated beyond recognition. Most people would have wet themselves at the sight, but Hu Yi Fei managed to hold it together.

For Xue Mo Yin, although he hadn't witnessed such a large-scale scene, he had seen enough dead bodies. He himself had been stained with blood. While he didn't inherit his parents' business, it was still a black industry in essence, not something you could simply quit. Besides, he couldn't guarantee his parents' subordinates didn't harbor ulterior motives, and his travels over the years had inevitably led him to face danger. So, the sight before him merely brought a slight sense of discomfort.

Soon, the mercenaries escorted a group of people out. The two recognized the protagonist: Alice. But she was no concern to them. Their task was to follow these mercenaries to the Umbrella Corporation, where they could complete their second mission.

The two quietly trailed behind the mercenaries, soon arriving at the entrance of the Umbrella Corporation. They spotted Lü Zi Qiao lurking nearby.

Zi Qiao slowly moved to their side. Seeing his pale face and trembling hands, Xue Mo Yin was surprised. "You got the thing?"

"Of course! With Lü Xiaobù on the case, it's a piece of cake! I've got it in my spatial backpack." Lü Zi Qiao said nonchalantly.

"What about Ryan?"

Zi Qiao remained silent for a moment before speaking, "I killed him."

Indeed, seeing Zi Qiao's demeanor, Xue Mo Yin had already guessed the answer, but he was still surprised that the guy had managed to do it so quickly.

But this wasn't Zi Qiao's initial intention. Let's go back in time.

Hearing Zi Qiao's question, Ryan's eyes darted around. "I, I don't know what you're talking about."

Zi Qiao was thoroughly impatient now. He slapped Ryan, whose face immediately swelled up. "I don't want to waste time. Give me the thing, and I'll spare your life. Otherwise, you die here!"

"I'll give it to you, I'll give it to you. Don't kill me!" Ryan hurriedly said. But if you looked closely, you could see the cruelty in his eyes. He slowly reached into his pocket, then quickly drew a pistol. "Die!"

Thanks to the two pills he had taken, his physical abilities and reaction speed far surpassed those of an ordinary person. He quickly rolled away, dodging the bullet.

But this was reality, not a movie where villains die by talking too much. Zi Qiao also rushed towards Ryan, his Fang Tian Hua Ji drawn. He knew he wasn't fast enough to dodge bullets at such close range. He had the inner armor, but the impact force from a bullet at this distance wasn't something to joke about.

So, Zi Qiao went all out, finally realizing that unnecessary mercy would only lead him to his demise. What was that saying? Mercy towards the enemy is cruelty towards oneself.

Before Ryan could fire his second shot, Zi Qiao's Fang Tian Hua Ji struck straight for his heart. Ryan couldn't dodge that speed, and he could only watch in disbelief as his heart was pierced. He then fell to the ground, his life extinguished.

This was Zi Qiao's first kill. He stood there, staring at Ryan's body, seemingly stunned. The sound of gunfire from the villa finally pulled him back from his thoughts, and he promptly vomited.

But despite the nausea, he remembered his purpose. He forced down the discomfort and shakily searched Ryan's body, finally finding the T-Virus that the guy had hidden in his pocket. He tossed it into his spatial backpack and hurried to the designated meeting spot.

Xue Mo Yin patted him on the shoulder, while Hu Yi Fei chimed in, "I didn't know that, Lü Xiaobù, you're actually a man."

"Of course." Zi Qiao proudly tilted his head.

"Alright, stop showing off. Did you get the T-Virus certified by the system?"

Zi Qiao scratched his head, "Is there such a procedure?"

Xue Mo Yin was speechless, "Dude, how else will you know if what you got is the real deal?"

"Damn it! I can't be that unlucky, can I?" Zi Qiao panicked when he heard that. If he had gone through all this trouble for nothing, he'd really be crying without tears.

He pulled the item out of his spatial backpack and submitted it for system verification.

"T-Virus: Mutated virus, capable of infecting humans into zombies. (Mission Item)"

Seeing that the item was correct, the trio breathed a sigh of relief. At this moment, the mercenaries outside were clearly ready, opening the lab doors.

Xue Mo Yin looked at the scene and said, "Get ready. There's another big fight inside."

Hu Yi Fei tightened her grip on her gun. Zi Qiao's performance had put a lot of pressure on her. She knew it was her turn to fight once they went in, and this time, it was for real. "Alright, say it. What are we doing?"

"Once the door opens, don't mind Alice and them, we're going straight in. If we don't get spotted, we're fine. If we do, take down these mercenaries. Of course, the probability of us getting spotted is about ninety-nine point nine percent."

"Then why are you even bothering to say anything? Just say we kill them and be done with it." Hu Yi Fei rolled her eyes. She thought he had some clever plan, but it was just the same old routine.

And finally, the doors to the Umbrella Corporation lab slowly opened. Xue Mo Yin's eyes turned cold. "Go!" With that, he charged forward like a hunting leopard. Before the mercenaries could react, Xue Mo Yin was already firing. Two of them fell to the ground, bleeding. Although his aim wasn't great, at this close range, anyone who wasn't blind could hit their target.

Compared to Hu Yi Fei, Zi Qiao had already tasted blood, "Damn it, Mo Yin, wait for me! Lü Bu, the peerless general, is here! Enemy soldiers, prepare to die!" He then charged forward, spraying bullets everywhere.

Seeing Zi Qiao rushing in, Hu Yi Fei gritted her teeth, "Bastards! When did I ever become a coward!"

Their barrage of gunfire caught the mercenaries off guard. They had no idea where these people came from. By the time they reacted, Xue Mo Yin and the others were already in their midst. At this point, their weapons were no better than sticks of firewood.

His long sword sliced across a neck, sending blood flying. Xue Mo Yin was no longer the sunny guy he usually was. He was now a cold-blooded killer.

Zi Qiao then jumped into the fray. He was much more brutal than Mo Yin. The Fang Tian Hua Ji was a weapon of power. Although Zi Qiao didn't know any techniques, in this kind of melee, he could just slash randomly and still hurt people. And given his strength, the damage he inflicted wasn't something to be taken lightly.

One unlucky guy got his stomach ripped open, the wound so deep that his intestines were almost spilling out. This made Zi Qiao's face turn green, and he almost dropped his Fang Tian Hua Ji.

Compared to the two, Hu Yi Fei's fight was much more methodical. Her Broken Shadow Knife Art danced in a tight circle, fast and precise. People were falling around her, as if she were a ghost.
