Chapter 4
The Master of Meditation and the Sutra of Bone Marrow Washing

“Master, you said I'm someone with great fortune. What will be will be. Don’t forget I even found the lost Golden Bell Cover and Yi Jin Jing.”

Yun Yi quickly comforted the Abbot, seeing him feeling guilty.

He knew that the Wall-Gazing Master hadn't gone missing; he'd become an actor, a big-time star named Zheng Qiu Guan.

If he wanted the Marrow-Washing Scripture, he could just ask for it. After all, the Wall-Gazing Master was no longer in the Wulong Temple, and the Marrow-Washing Scripture should be returned.

He knew they would meet the Wall-Gazing Master soon. But it also meant that the Wulong Temple’s crisis was approaching.

Yun Yi wouldn't let the crisis happen. He would destroy the threat of the Demon Cult with his own hands and prevent his master's martial arts from being ruined.

“That's true. You, little fella, have never given me a moment's worry since you were little. You're much stronger than these two.”

The Abbot snapped out of his thoughts and smiled.

He had never dreamed he’d see the Golden Bell Cover and Yi Jin Jing again. Yet, this disciple had brought back these two secret manuals, for just twenty bucks. Some people's very existence is unbelievable.

“Hee hee hee… ”

Little Wen stuck out his tongue at the Abbot, clearly annoyed by his badmouthing.

Everyone else couldn’t help but chuckle at this.

While the two youngsters were quite mischievous, they were the temple's sources of joy, and everyone loved them.

Their stories were not that different from Yun Yi’s. Little Dragon was also picked up by the Abbot. Abandoning children was quite common in this era.

Little Wen’s situation was slightly better; he was sent to the Wulong Temple because his family was poor. At least he wouldn't starve here, and it would save his family money.

This kind of thing was also quite common in this era.

But all that was in the past. The Wulong Temple was their home now.

“Master, aren't Little Dragon and Little Wen old enough?”

Yun Yi suddenly turned to Little Dragon and Little Wen.

“Little Wen is nine, Little Dragon is eight. It’s about time.”

The Abbot nodded towards the two, looking at them.

“Senior Brother, what’s going on?”

Little Dragon looked at Yun Yi with confusion.

“Yeah, Master, what do you mean about time?”

Little Wen also looked at the Abbot with confusion.

“I was telling your senior brother that you can start practicing the Divine Child Art.”

The Abbot explained to the two of them.

The Divine Child Art, as the strongest foundational skill, is usually started between the ages of seven and eight.

Yun Yi had a strong natural talent, so he started practicing at three.

But Little Dragon and Little Wen couldn't. They had to follow the normal path.

Little Wen had a year’s head start because his talent was not as good as Little Dragon's, just in case something went wrong.

“Fantastic! I can finally practice the Divine Child Art!” Little Dragon jumped up with joy.

In the temple, he admired Yun Yi the most, and Yun Yi was one of the few in the temple who practiced the Divine Child Art.

Because the Divine Child Art must be started from a young age, most of the brothers here were too old.

For instance, the Senior Brother practiced the Star-Sucking Great Skill and swordsmanship.

Little Dragon had only been practicing ordinary fist and foot techniques, hoping to learn the same skills as his senior brother.

Unlike Little Dragon, Little Wen was frowning.

His personality was similar to the Senior Brother’s; he was rather lazy. He practiced martial arts only when he was forced to. He preferred romance to practicing martial arts.

“Indeed, Little Dragon, with your age and talent, you should be able to master the Divine Child Art very quickly.”

The Senior Brother said to Little Dragon.

Although Little Dragon’s talent was slightly weaker than Yun Yi's, he was still a prodigy. In the whole Wulong Temple, he was second only to Yun Yi, even the Abbot said he couldn’t compare.

If nothing went wrong, Little Dragon would likely become the second person in the Wulong Temple to achieve Innate Realm, so the Abbot was very devoted to his training.

Little Wen was different. He was basically the Senior Brother’s carbon copy.

But one sheep is herded, two sheep are herded too. Once he got used to it, Little Wen wasn’t entirely useless. He could become a first-rate martial artist in the future, but achieving top-tier was a bit of a stretch.

“Senior Brother, I think you’re mocking me.”

Little Wen glared at the Senior Brother, unhappy. His words made him sound like a total loser.

Although he was indeed a total loser.

“Wow, Little Wen, you’re getting smarter.”

The Senior Brother looked at Little Wen with surprise.

But he only received a roll of Little Wen’s eyes.

Everyone started laughing.

Thus, Little Dragon and Little Wen’s training was set. Yun Yi was also going to start practicing the Yi Jin Jing.

Before that, Yun Yi took Little Dragon, Little Wen, and the Senior Brother down the mountain.

While going down the mountain, the four met a film crew. Little Dragon almost caused trouble, mistaking the crew’s villain for a bad guy.

During this time, Yun Yi also met Zheng Qiu Guan, the crew’s lead actor.

Yun Yi didn’t immediately recognize his Wall-Gazing Uncle, because they would meet again.

This encounter also made Yun Yi aware that the events of the original story were about to begin.

There was a month left before his master’s 88th birthday, when the Demon Cult would arrive.

He would have to focus on practicing the Yi Jin Jing when they got back.

After parting ways with the crew, the four went into the city. Little Wen and Little Dragon headed straight for their favorite roast duck restaurant.

The chef there knew them well, because Yun Yi used to go there often as a kid.

They enjoyed a delicious meal, bought some household goods, and returned to the Wulong Temple.

They couldn’t avoid getting lectured by the Abbot again, but they didn’t mind. This wasn’t the first time.

With everything settled, Yun Yi said goodbye to everyone and prepared to practice the Yi Jin Jing.

The Yi Jin Jing was the third Divine Skill created by the ancestor, Bodhidharma. The reason was that Bodhidharma felt the twelve gates of the Golden Bell Cover were too difficult to practice, and his descendants might not be able to inherit them. So he developed the Yi Jin Jing, which he considered simpler than the Golden Bell Cover.

Maybe geniuses find it hard to understand ordinary people. Bodhidharma had no idea that even what he considered simple was beyond the comprehension of ordinary people. Since the Yi Jin Jing came into being, those who could master it were still very few and far between.

But even though it was difficult to practice, it was still a Divine Skill. This secret manual maintained the Shaolin’s legacy for a thousand years, giving the Shaolin an irreplaceable position in the martial arts world. The Yi Jin Jing’s name became well-known.

However, this also attracted many eyes to the Yi Jin Jing. The Shaolin was robbed many times, and the Yi Jin Jing was leaked out.

One of the more famous incidents was the theft by the Asura Cult’s Fire Cloud Evil God.

Fire Cloud Evil God was naturally intelligent and ambitious. After obtaining the Yi Jin Jing, he practiced it diligently and reached mastery in a short period of time. Over the years, he honed the Yi Jin Jing to its peak, breaking through to the Innate Realm.

Then Fire Cloud Evil God succeeded his father, Old Evil God, and took control of the Asura Cult in Japan. The Asura Cult quickly became the most terrifying gang in Japan.

It can be said that the Yi Jin Jing was crucial to Fire Cloud Evil God's rise, besides his talent.
