As Gao Jin recounted his story, Yun Yi's past memories resurfaced.
It was now the time of God of Gamblers 2.
A year ago, the God of Gamblers' wife and child were murdered by the East Lake Gang's Qiu Xiao Chi, also known as "Smiling Chi".
To fulfill his promise to his wife not to gamble for a year, Gao Jin temporarily put aside his revenge and traveled to the mainland.
Thirteen days ago, Gao Jin met the East Lake Gang's leader, Hai An, while the latter was vacationing at the Small Gambling Lake. Hai An was a good man, and the two hit it off.
However, while they were drinking on a yacht that night, they were attacked. Hai An died, and Gao Jin escaped with his son, Hai Yuan.
Adding to their woes, as survivors of the yacht incident, they were wrongly accused as the culprits and forced to flee.
During their escape, they met Xiao La Ba and his sister, Xiao Yun. The group traveled from the mainland to Taiwan, intending to meet Hai Yuan's sister, Hai Tang.
Before they could reunite, Xiao Yun and Hai Yuan were kidnapped by assassins sent by Qiu Xiao Chi. After a grueling rescue, they saved the two and arranged a gambling match three days later.
However, Qiu Xiao Chi was not a man who kept his word. He launched another attack on Gao Jin and his companions.
In the chaos, Xiao Yun, Xiao La Ba's sister, died, leaving Gao Jin with a pang of regret for the burgeoning feelings they had developed.
At this moment, Gao Jin finally understood Yun Yi's prophecy: he truly cursed the women around him.
This was not the time for anger; he had to find Qiu Xiao Chi and seek revenge.
With the help of his brother, Long Wu, Gao Jin and his group escaped danger. They finally breathed a sigh of relief, knowing they had to face the gambling match Qiu Xiao Chi had arranged three days later.
Despite Long Wu's assistance, Gao Jin was still worried. He feared Qiu Xiao Chi might resort to more underhanded tactics to harm his companions.
Then Gao Jin thought of the Wulong Monastery.
He had witnessed the strength of the masters there, exceeding anything ordinary humans could achieve, especially Yun Yi.
If Yun Yi protected them, they could successfully carry out their revenge. That's why they came here.
"So you want me to accompany you to Taiwan?"
Yun Yi asked, looking at Gao Jin.
"Yes, even Long Wu would find it difficult to go against the entire East Lake Gang. I could only think of you."
Gao Jin nodded.
"Yeah, that bastard Qiu Xiao Chi killed my father and has taken complete control of the East Lake Gang."
Hai Tang, standing beside them, nodded as well.
Her hatred for Qiu Xiao Chi was no less than Gao Jin's. The people who murdered her father were Qiu Xiao Chi's men.
Originally, Qiu Xiao Chi was her father's subordinate, but somehow he managed to acquire 1.6 billion US dollars and started recruiting men. Soon, he was challenging her father for dominance.
After her father's death, Qiu Xiao Chi naturally took over the East Lake Gang, turning her, the former pampered daughter, into a destitute orphan.
When she heard Gao Jin's stories about the Wulong Monastery, she resolved to do anything to enlist their help.
"Those 1.6 billion US dollars were entrusted to me by an old friend to be used for the International Children's Rescue Fund. Qiu Xiao Chi murdered the foundation's people and forced them to surrender the money. That's another reason why I'm here."
Gao Jin stated solemnly.
Whether for revenge or to reclaim the money, this matter was unavoidable and incredibly dangerous.
"That means that bastard is unforgivable."
The Abbot, listening to their conversation, had a grim expression.
If it were simply a personal grudge, he wouldn't have much to say. Violence and bloodshed were commonplace in the martial arts world. However, the fact that children were involved made things serious.
"Master Yun Yi, it's only three days. After three days, we'll offer a generous reward."
Gao Jin looked at Yun Yi, his expression earnest.
"Alright, I'll accompany you."
Yun Yi glanced at the Abbot and nodded.
From the Abbot's earlier attitude, Yun Yi knew he wanted to intervene in this matter. Naturally, he wouldn't refuse.
While Qiu Xiao Chi's men might have some influence among ordinary people, they were nothing to Yun Yi. The danger was practically nonexistent.
"Fantastic. Thank you, Master Yun Yi."
Gao Jin's face lit up with a smile. With Yun Yi's participation, their safety was assured.
Hai Tang and the others felt a wave of relief. They had endured such a terrifying ordeal. Finally, they had a protector.
"Senior Brother, we want to go too!" x2
Just then, Xiao Wen and Xiao Long, both with sparkling eyes, looked at Yun Yi.
For them, who had only been to Hong Kong, Taiwan was a place full of allure.
"What are you two meddling for?"
The Abbot chided the two youngsters.
This was not a trip for sightseeing. It was dangerous.
"Master, with Senior Brother's abilities, we won't be in any danger. We haven't left Hong Kong before."
Xiao Wen said in a pleading tone.
"Yes, yes, we can protect ourselves."
Xiao Long nodded seriously.
"No, your Senior Brother won't be able to look after you two."
The Abbot shook his head again.
He wouldn't feel comfortable letting the two youngsters go out.
"Master, there's me too. I can look after Xiao Wen and Xiao Long."
Just then, the eldest disciple hurried in.
He had heard their conversation and also wanted to go to Taiwan. It would be a good opportunity for a honeymoon with Hong Ning Meng.
"You... alright, if you want to go, you'll have to ask Mr. Gao Jin if he's okay with it."
The Abbot sighed.
"Of course, of course. All your expenses in Taiwan will be on me."
Gao Jin quickly agreed. His smile widened.
The eldest disciple and the others might be ordinary in the Wulong Monastery, but they were true martial arts masters in the outside world. Gao Jin knew this.
Even the young Xiao Long was stronger than Long Wu. Naturally, he hoped for as many people as possible to join them.
"Then it's settled. Let's get ready to leave."
Yun Yi nodded.
A few more people wouldn't make much difference.
The group then started getting ready. Within half an hour, they were all set and left the Wulong Monastery.
As they emerged from the monastery, they saw two helicopters parked there. A man stepped out of one, a familiar face: Long Wu, whom Yun Yi had met before.
"Because of the time constraints, I called for helicopters. I hope you don't mind."
Gao Jin explained to everyone.
Naturally, nobody minded. They could only say that the God of Gamblers was truly a man of means.
The two helicopters were big enough to accommodate everyone. After boarding, they took off, rising higher and higher. They disappeared into the distance, leaving behind the Wulong Monastery.
From the helicopters, came the excited cries of Xiao Long and Xiao Wen, quickly fading away.
"I hope everything goes well."
The Abbot sighed as he watched them leave and then returned to the courtyard.
Even though he knew Yun Yi's strength, he still worried about their first journey outside the monastery.
