Lu Hao and Ilsa's footsteps spanned the entirety of Madrid.
During this period, they enjoyed different life experiences at various scenic spots in Madrid.
Until this day.
At night, Lu Hao and Ilsa returned from a stroll, only to find the lights in their room switched on.
“Someone broke in!?”
The two exchanged glances. Lu Hao motioned for Ilsa to stay outside and went in alone to investigate.
“Lu Hao, be careful.”
Ilsa reminded him with a hint of worry. Of course, having experienced the grand scene of desert treasure hunting, she was confident that Lu Hao could easily handle a few petty thieves.
How could petty thieves be as fierce as ruthless desert bandits and mercenaries?
Lu Hao gave her an “OK” gesture, then picked up a shovel from the yard, quietly opened the door, and peeked through the crack. He discovered that the living room was empty. He slipped inside.
Then, he noticed a figure in front of the refrigerator, opening it and bending down to pick out soda.
Perfect opportunity!!
Lu Hao's eyes lit up. Seizing the moment when the thief was unaware, he swung the shovel down with all his might.
The sharp whistling sound startled the thief. He grabbed a soda bottle and turned around to shield himself, shouting, “It’s me!”
“Whoa, Jack!?”
Lu Hao discovered that the supposed thief was actually Jack. He quickly stopped, but the shovel still hit the soda bottle.
Crack!!
The soda bottle shattered under the force of the shovel. Glass shards scattered across the floor.
Jack was also scared out of his wits. Good grief, that was a vicious strike.
“Lu Hao, you want to knock me out!?”
He tossed away the remaining bottle neck, still shaken. Lu Hao put away the shovel and said innocently, “How can I be blamed? Who told you to break into someone’s house and make people misunderstand?”
“You have the audacity to say that to me? Who said they’d book a room for me at the hotel and wait for me to return? Good heavens, when I came back, the hotel front desk told me they had no record. Don’t tell me… you’ve been living here all this time?”
Jack glared at Lu Hao angrily. This guy was playing with him, wasn’t he!?
“Ahem, when I went to book a room, the front desk said they were fully booked, so I ended up staying at Ilsa’s place.”
Lu Hao blinked, his face radiating “sincerity.” “Jack, you have to believe me.”
“……”
Jack rolled his eyes. I believe you, ghost. You just forgot.
“Jack, let’s not dwell on these unpleasant things. Sit down, sit down, consider this your own home.”
Lu Hao invited Jack to sit down as if he was welcoming a guest. He set down the shovel, grabbed another soda, threw it to Jack, and asked, “When did you get back?”
“Just arrived today. I’ll go see the Earl tomorrow to report.”
Jack opened the soda and took a refreshing gulp, feeling relaxed. He collapsed onto the sofa.
“How did you even know I was staying with Ilsa!?”
“Where else could you possibly go!?”
Jack rolled his eyes again. “Besides, even if you weren’t here, I could only ask Ilsa about your whereabouts. After all, you came back together.”
“Makes sense.”
Lu Hao smiled and called Ilsa, who was worried outside, into the house.
“Jack!?”
“Hey, Ilsa, long time no see.”
Jack raised his soda in a greeting, filled with apology. “I’m interrupting your romantic getaway.” All signs pointed to the fact that these two were a couple.
“It’s alright, we’re all friends.”
Ilsa waved her hand generously. Lu Hao opened a bottle of soda and sat down, then said with a strange expression, “Jack, you’re so eager to find me. Is there something going on?”
Logically, even if he forgot about booking a room, Jack wouldn’t mind. He would simply book another room to sleep in.
He would contact Lu Hao after getting some rest.
But now, Jack was rushing over to find him, most likely because something happened.
“There is indeed something.”
Jack sat up straight and said seriously, “Lu Hao, have you ever heard of the God’s Armament?”
“God’s Armament!?”
Lu Hao paused for a moment, then pondered.
Ilsa replied, “Isn’t the so-called God’s Armament the Holy Grail, Holy Spear, Turin Shroud, and Ark of the Covenant?”
“No.”
Jack shook his head. “God’s Armament refers to the complete weapons and equipment of an ancient general, including helmet, breastplate, belt, shield, and a holy spirit sword.”
“A general’s weapons and equipment? Then why is it called God’s Armament?”
Ilsa was full of curiosity. Jack shrugged and spread his hands. “I don’t know. All I know is that these things are worth a lot of money. I found two pieces of the God’s Armament before, selling them to the Earl for two hundred thousand pounds.”
You sold them too cheap!
Lu Hao thought to himself. Such famous antiques shouldn’t be sold for a hundred thousand pounds each. If it were him, he’d sell each for three to four hundred thousand pounds.
Otherwise, he’d rather keep them and wait for their value to appreciate in the future.
“Jack, you’re here to find me, does it mean you have information about the God’s Armament again?”
Lu Hao chuckled. Based on Jack’s personality, he would only come knocking if he had accurate information.
“You’re so smart.”
Jack perked up and said excitedly, “On my way back, I heard from some locals about the Holy Spirit Sword. They say it’s with an indigenous tribe in Africa.”
“Lu Hao, I owe you a treasure hunt, so I plan to take you with me this time, to find this Holy Spirit Sword and bring it back from the indigenous tribe.”
The previous desert adventure was Lu Hao’s own effort to join the treasure hunting team, so Jack didn’t count it as fulfilling the wager.
This opportunity was rare, so he intended to fulfill the promise of the wager.
Even though he already recognized Lu Hao as a partner and would have taken him on treasure hunts even without the wager.
But a promise is a promise, and with the wager in play, he had to fulfill its terms.
He personally disliked owing favors, and even more, he didn’t want to be a man of his word.
“What do you say? Are you in?”
“In. With such a good deal, how could I miss it.”
Lu Hao readily agreed. Ilsa remained silent, watching the two of them discuss when they’d embark on another adventure to find treasures in Africa.
“That’s settled. Once I report to the Earl tomorrow, I’ll gather information about the Holy Spirit Sword and the indigenous tribe.”
“Alright, I’ll wait for your news.”
“I’m off, I won’t disturb your romantic getaway.”
Having sorted things out, Jack waved goodbye and left with a carefree air, leaving Lu Hao and Ilsa to their space.
