“Jack, take this pistol. There are extra bullets here.”
Lu Hao pulled out the pocket pistol he had confiscated from the two Arab thugs and handed it to Jack. “I know you don’t like using guns, but you can use it to save lives at critical moments. You should understand what I mean.”
“I understand.”
Jack took the pistol. He didn’t like killing, but he would fire if he had to. He knew the importance of his own life, even compared to the lives of his enemies.
He watched as Lu Hao distributed all the pistols to the others.
Jack asked with a puzzled expression, “Lu Hao, you gave us all the pistols, what are you going to use?” In his memory, Lu Hao only had three pistols, all trophies from enemy hands.
“Me!?”
Lu Hao waved his hand, unconcerned. “I’m fine. I’ll be fine with whatever I have.” As he spoke, he stood up and retrieved his half-man-tall outdoor backpack. He unzipped it and reached inside with both hands.
Under the bewildered gaze of everyone, he slowly lifted out a machine gun.
“Mini-Mi light machine gun!?”
Colonel Bird and Lieutenant Colonel Banner exclaimed in unison. As veteran soldiers, they were all too familiar with this classic light machine gun.
“???”
Jack looked down at the palm-sized pocket pistol in his hand, then back up at the rugged and domineering machine gun in Lu Hao’s hands.
Damn, you really are ‘fine with whatever’!!
Lu Hao raised the machine gun with both hands and smiled at the stunned crowd. “If these sand bandits dare to attack us, I’ll let them taste my big gun.”
“With this machine gun, that number of sand bandits is no match for us.”
Colonel Bird and Lieutenant Colonel Banner were completely relieved.
In the open terrain of the desert, the power of a machine gun is amplified infinitely. If those sand bandits dared to come, they were guaranteed to suffer a heavy loss.
“Oh, Lu Hao, why didn’t you take out this good thing sooner? You made us worry all afternoon.”
Aida let out a long sigh of relief, her tense nerves relaxing, apparently it was safe now.
Ilsa said happily, “Lu Hao, it’s a good thing you’re here, otherwise we might have suffered a huge loss to the sand bandits.”
“Yeah, you’re so reliable, Lu Hao, unlike someone else.”
Aida gave Jack a sideways glance. Jack was full of question marks. When was he unreliable?! He just didn’t like solving problems with guns and cannons.
“Lu Hao, where did you get this machine gun!?”
Jack looked at Lu Hao, completely confused. Before, Lu Hao needed to rely on his channels to replenish ammunition, but now he suddenly pulled out a harder-to-get machine gun, which was really strange.
Lu Hao patted the machine gun and said with a smile, “Remember the owner of the desert inn? He’s actually an arms dealer behind the scenes. I bought this machine gun from him for five thousand dollars.”
“I can’t believe that cunning old man was hiding his true nature so well.”
Jack exclaimed in surprise, “But Lu Hao, you seem to have gathered a lot of information during this time, you even found out that the inn owner is an arms dealer.”
“You think I came to the desert to eat sand?”
Lu Hao chuckled lightly. His harvest during his time in the desert was not small.
“…”
Jack shook his head and arranged, “Tonight, me, Lu Hao, Colonel Bird, and Lieutenant Colonel Banner will take turns guarding. If anything happens, fire a warning shot. The others will rest as usual.”
Time passed slowly. The night wind blew, bringing a gust of sand.
Outside the palm grove, a camel caravan appeared abruptly, sneaking closer and closer, aiming directly at Lu Hao’s camp.
The camel’s hooves are flat and wide, with a thick, soft layer of padding. This allows them to move almost silently in the desert, making it very difficult to detect their presence, especially in the quiet darkness.
It wasn’t until they were near Lu Hao’s camp that the sand bandits, who had long been eyeing the caravan, finally lit their torches, then roared and charged towards the camp at full speed.
Bang!!
A gunshot rang out from the camp. It was Lieutenant Colonel Banner on guard duty, firing a warning shot.
Lu Hao and the others jolted awake, immediately realizing what was happening. They rushed out of their tents and quickly found cover, preparing to ambush the sand bandits.
“Everyone stay down and don’t move!”
Lu Hao warned Ilsa and the others, afraid they would panic and run around, getting hit by stray bullets.
“It’s the sand bandits, get ready to fire.”
The four with guns took cover. Lu Hao set up his machine gun directly between the two trunks of a palm tree, squinting to observe the situation of the sand bandits.
As he said, the sand bandits weren’t many, only about twenty people. Seeing this number, everyone relaxed.
In front of a machine gun, this number was clearly not enough. Especially since the other side was completely unaware, making it easy for them to charge straight into the machine gun’s line of fire.
Bang! Bang! Bang!!
Jack didn’t want to cause too much conflict, so he fired three warning shots at the sand bandits.
However, faced with the prospect of wealth within reach, the sand bandits had already gone wild with greed. They wouldn’t stop their charge because of Jack’s warning shots.
Awoooo!!!
The sand bandits roared, pulling on their reins and charging towards the camp on their camels, wielding their spears.
“Jack, there’s no way out, we have to fire back.”
Lu Hao watched the sand bandits charge madly towards them, directly pulled the bolt and loaded the machine gun. A hundred-round belt was hanging on the tree root, ready to unleash its fury.
“Fire!!”
Jack’s face turned serious, knowing that Lu Hao was right. As the leader, he couldn’t gamble with so many lives, so he gritted his teeth and ordered to fire.
He was merciful and didn’t want to kill, but when his own life and his friends’ lives were threatened, he decisively chose to fight back.
“The hunt is on!! ”
Lu Hao knelt down, his eyes fixed on the front, mentally calculating the distance the sand bandits would be at when he fired. To effectively kill the sand bandits, he planned to let them get closer before firing.
If it were Jack, he might have fired from afar to warn the sand bandits not to come closer. But Lu Hao only wanted to mercilessly shoot this group of bandits who dared to attack them.
The sand bandits were getting closer!!
Three hundred meters!
Two hundred meters!
One hundred meters!
Fifty meters!!
“Open fire!!”
Lu Hao’s eyes narrowed, and he pulled the trigger. The deadly song of “da da da” echoed across the desert.
Ah! Ah! Ah!
Screams followed.
The charging sand bandits never expected the other side to have such a powerful weapon like a machine gun, and they were caught completely off guard.
As they charged, the machine gun bullets poured down on them like a flood, sending them tumbling and flying, blood splattering everywhere.
Screams, yells, and roars rose in unison, intermingling with each other.
