Chapter 8
Demons? Despair? What is True Despair?

A world covered in snow.

“No way! No way?!”

“A young man made it onto the top ten calamities?!”

“He’s holding a white paper fan with silver edges, with a painting of mountains and misty waters. He’s entering high-end wine shops with his maids and servants.”

“For a moment, I thought I was the one who made the list!”

“This is too absurd.

Xu Feng Nian was full of questions, he couldn’t imagine it at all.

After all, the snow world had three great demon kings, but none of them made the list.

Yet, a young man made it.

Just then, Old Huang, who was sitting by the lake, stroked his chin.

“Yeah, not just you, I’m curious too.”

“Could this ordinary young man be related to the one who released this video, and got in through the back door?”

“Don’t be ridiculous!”

Xu Feng Nian glared at him, but anyone could see that his eyes were full of laughter.

“If you ask me, I could also be included in the top ten calamities of the multiverse!”

“Who doesn’t know about Xu Feng Nian’s evil reputation?!”

“It should be Xu Feng Nian making his mark throughout the myriad realms!”

..

But in the myriad realms, the multiverse was buzzing with discussion, why could a plain and ordinary young man be listed as one of the top ten calamities of the multiverse?

If that were truly the case, they would inevitably doubt the authenticity of these images!

Or perhaps this young man got in through the back door?

But the screen in the void would not change according to anyone’s will.

As the story continued, everyone was certain of one thing, the world Lu Sheng resided in was truly filled with strange and demonic entities.

If an ordinary person were in this bizarre and oppressive world, they would likely meet their demise!

But these things didn’t cause much surprise.

So what if there are demons?!

Which world doesn’t have a few major villains?!

The vastness of the multiverse was beyond everyone’s imagination, even worlds far more desperate than this one were numerous.

Many prodigies even existed in worlds that were thousands of times more desperate than Lu Sheng’s.

The Warhammer 40k world.

A world known as a “Transmigrator’s Forbidden Zone,” a “world where ten golden fingers won’t even save you.”

The Empire, in order to fight against all sorts of ghosts and monsters, had to adopt extreme measures.

Humanity divided the planets into different purposes, some planets used to be lush and green like Earth, but were transformed into industrial planets.

High levels of pollution turned the original atmosphere into a toxic orange, killing 99% of the life on the surface, all just to provide fertilizer for other agricultural planets.

The Empire built hive cities upon hive cities on habitable planets, the bottom levels were like slums, extremely polluted, but the top levels were where the nobles resided, living in closed-off man-made gardens with full protective barriers.

A planet could have hundreds of billions, even trillions of people, workers toiling day and night for 16 hours a day, only receiving basic necessities.

They died and were directly used as corpse starch for food, ordinary people who lost their ability to work were basically declared dead.

At the same time, they were under high-pressure control, the Inquisition, the Adeptus Mechanicus, and so on, monitored speech in real-time.

Those who voiced dissatisfaction would be turned into servitors by the Adeptus Mechanicus.

When a planet was corrupted by heretics and utterly beyond saving, a sudden extermination order would come down and the entire planet’s people would be nuked.

This was just within the Empire, the most terrifying thing was the Empire’s external enemies!

Khorne, the Blood God, god of war and bloodshed; Tzeentch, god of magic and change; Nurgle, the Plague God, king of pestilence and despair, father of physical and mental corruption; and Slaanesh, the Prince of Chaos, the ultimate god of unutterable pleasure.

From wisdom to cunning Tzeentch, from life to decay Nurgle, from bravery to slaughter Khorne, from love to desire Slaanesh…

This was a world that drove people to despair.

In the Warp, the mysterious screen continued.

“Calamity?! Interesting?!”

The four Chaos gods wriggled in the Warp.

The Journey to the West world of demons.

The Lion-Camel Ridge, the Corpse-Forest!

The ridge of skulls, the forest of bones.

Human hair formed into felt sheets, human flesh and blood rotted into dust.

Human tendons wrapped around the trees, dry and shining like silver.

Truly, a mountain of corpses and a sea of blood, truly a stench that could choke the nose.

The little demons on the east side took living people to skin them, the ferocious demons on the west side boiled and fried human flesh fresh.

This was the greatest human purgatory.

The Lion-Camel Cave, where sat three powerful demon kings, the Lion King, the White Elephant King, and the Golden Winged Great Peng King.

They were followed by 48,000 little demons.

They drank wine made of blood and ate two-legged sheep that looked like humans.

They looked at the screen in the sky, and let out a contemptuous laugh.

“Hahaha, calamity?!”

“We are the greatest calamity!!”

The Matrix world.

In reality, the world was already shrouded in darkness.

Countless pods were scattered across the world.

Humans were raised in these giant pods filled with nutrient fluid, with machine tubes inserted into their brains.

The machines ruled the Earth, and humans became “meat batteries” that provided energy for the machines.

Machines arranged for humans to live in a giant virtual world.

Looking at the screen in the void, lines of code flashed through the Matrix.

“Calamity?!”

The Three Body Problem world.

When the Trisolaran civilization launched the sophons, they locked down Earth civilization.

They locked down basic physics, preventing Earth civilization from advancing further…

When a “tiny” water droplet destroyed most of humanity’s space forces.

A total of 2008 star-level warships…

When a two-dimensional sheet as thin as a playing card, sparkling and translucent, slowly spread across the solar system.

Like a giant bubble, it expanded endlessly.

As this “bubble” expanded, all matter in the surrounding three-dimensional space was gradually pulled into the bubble, like a rapidly expanding waterfall mouth.

And this waterfall was 360 degrees, there was no angle that could escape the fate of being swallowed…

When the human world looked up at the mysterious screen in the depths of the universe.

“Calamity?!”

“We are in the midst of a calamity now!”

The Marvel world.

Click!

Thanos, the Mad Titan, snapped his fingers and half of all life in the universe turned to ash.

“Calamity?!”

“Are you talking about me?!”
