“Once you enter the Light Gate, you’ll officially enter the game world. There’s an opening animation that basically explains how you’ve joined the 5th Investigation Team and are heading to the New Continent to investigate.
You’ll wake up on a ship. Here’s the catch, and it’s the most frustrating part of the game. You don’t have any mission prompts at all at this point!
About 10 minutes in, the ship will tilt and capsize. If you don’t escape in time, you’ll likely go down with the ship, experiencing your first death. Yeah, that happened to me!
Drowning really isn’t pleasant!
If you die without knowing why, you’ll get a system prompt the second time you play, telling you to figure out what happened on the ship.
The mission prompts are interesting because they change depending on what you experience in the game. As a result, the method you discover to escape the prologue and the opening kill will also vary.
I really admire the game company’s design. It’s as if you’re truly experiencing a disaster, and you have to work hard to escape!
But dying is really not enjoyable, and I think most people would rather not experience it.
I’ll just cut to the chase. The ship was attacked by a gigantic, ancient dragon with a live volcano on its back. After you escape on a wyvern, you can see the dragon from the air - it's incredibly impressive!
Maybe you’ve seen giant monsters in various games, but this kind of "seeing it with your own eyes" kind of awesomeness is beyond your imagination!
Your goal is to survive this crisis!
After a thorough exploration of the ship, I discovered that there’s more than one way to survive, and even some hidden secrets:
First: The easiest way is to find the crossbow device on your left hand, quickly learn how to use it, get on the deck, wait for the ship to tilt, find the "land" that’s emerged from the sea, jump off, find a flying wyvern in the sky, use your crossbow to shoot a rope to grab it, and the wyvern will fly you straight to the New Continent!
This is probably the easiest way to avoid the opening kill, and I recommend it to most players!
Second: If you’re good at talking your way around things and have great negotiation skills, find a reliable hunter on the ship, deepen your relationship with them, and stick with them. When the crisis hits, they’ll help you. If you combine this method with the first, your chances of success will increase significantly!
Third: There’s a small emergency boat on the ship. Find it quickly (without anyone noticing…), sneak on board, and paddle to the New Continent! Be careful, this method is a bit risky, as there seem to be monsters in the sea, so you might get attacked. Make sure you paddle directly towards the nearest land and don’t go in any random directions. The sea in the game seems vast, but if you paddle away from land, you’ll be swallowed whole by the monsters in the water, along with the boat… But if you paddle directly towards land, you’ll be less likely to be attacked by the monsters in the sea, and you won’t encounter giant sea monsters that swallow you and the boat whole.
Fourth: You could also just swim… but I don’t think I have enough stamina…
Fifth: (To be updated)
Drumroll… the key point, about the secrets on the ship:
Most players might overlook this:
The NPCs in this game have very high intelligence, you can have conversations with them, and the topics are limitless... But don’t ask random questions, they won’t answer a “drunk” (the game sets you up as drunk at the time). And don’t do anything unreasonable (like flirting). The hunters there will teach you a lesson!
There’s a yellow-armored girl NPC on the ship who looks really cute. She mysteriously disappeared after I died several times, so maybe some players triggered a special storyline for her.
There’s a special room in the lower level of the ship, guarded by two guards, who are very strict. I don’t know what’s in there.
(Update: I observed this room for a long time, but couldn’t find a way to get in. Brute forcing it doesn’t work, because the door is locked. I don’t know where the key is. Maybe the guards have it, but I can’t beat them right now!)
(Update: When the ship was breaking apart, this room was also damaged. I swam inside and found many chests. I checked one chest, and it seemed to contain equipment. I saw a set called the [Queen of the Land] set, very gorgeous. I was excited and wanted to wear it, but… I drowned!)
(Update: Currently, there’s no way to get the [Queen of the Land] set.)
Unfortunately, because of the special nature of the Nightmare World, I can’t provide images or videos. Some people might call me a liar, but if you enter the Nightmare World, you’ll know that everything I’ve said is true.
Of course, escaping the sea part and arriving at the New Continent doesn’t mean you’re safe. You still need to find the base (Update: Multiple players have confirmed that the base on the New Continent is called [Stars]). If you want to safely find the new base, check out my other guide post. [Ancient Tree Forest Prologue Guide].
That’s all for today. If I discover more, I’ll update you. Of course, I hope more Nightmare World players will provide me with clues.”
Along with Odilia, Zhang Xingyu finished reading the fat guy’s news post. If Zhang Xingyu guessed correctly, this poster must be the chubby Nightmare World player named [Invincible Fat Boss].
Zhang Xingyu hadn’t expected this fat guy to study the prologue so deeply!
According to Zhang Xingyu’s expectations, hidden secrets like the [Queen of the Land] set would be discovered by idle players after a large number of players joined, but he hadn’t expected anyone to do such deep exploration just a few days after the launch of the Nightmare World!
In Zhang Xingyu's setting, the Queen of the Land set isn't just a hidden item in the prologue, it's also connected to a main mission. Completing this main mission allows players to access the second area of the Monster Hunter World, “The Great Ant塚 Wasteland"!
Of course, if an OP player gets the Queen of the Land set too early, then the suddenly appearing monsters might make the current players, who are unequipped and unskilled, cry out in frustration:
Is this frustrating game even playable?!
