Chapter 54
Buying a New Knife

Jiang Heng walked forward and wrapped his arms around Lucy.

Lucy turned around and rested her head on Jiang Heng's chest. Feeling the warmth emanating from him and his strong, steady heartbeat, Lucy finally calmed down.

In this world, there was nothing worth cherishing for Lucy, only this warm embrace and its owner.

"With me here, Lucy, you don't need to worry about anything," Jiang Heng whispered softly.

He might not have the ability to change the entire world, and he didn't have that ambition for now, but he was confident in protecting the people around him.

"Hmm~" Lucy didn't say anything more, closing her eyes and greedily inhaling Jiang Heng's scent, even though it was a fragrance she knew by heart.

In the afternoon, Jiang Heng and Lucy didn't stay at home but went to a weapon shop in Chinatown.

Jiang Heng mainly wanted to buy a couple of better knives for himself. The katana he used before had been badly damaged during his fight with the Anti-Terrorist Task Force and was unusable.

But good knives were hard to find. The kind of blades you see in games, like "Jue," "Baihu," or "Scalpel," were impossible to find on the market, and even in the black market, they were priceless.

It wasn't just knives; many weapons were the same. Don't think that just because Night City is overflowing with weapons, good weapons are easy to get. High-end weapons are basically still in the hands of corporations.

The weapon shop owner in Chinatown was a Chinese man, tall and sturdy, with a face full of flesh that made people intimidated. It was a shame he wasn't a movie villain.

But when he saw Jiang Heng and Lucy enter the store, the owner immediately flashed a smile and stepped forward, asking, "What can I get for you, esteemed customers? Our shop is well-equipped, anything you want, we have it. Here, the Kang Tao A-22B Super-type Smart Pistol, Kang Tao's product, guaranteed quality. Don't like smart weapons? No problem, we also have the M-10AF Lexington, military tech, affordable and practical…"

The owner casually grabbed a firearm from the shelf and started introducing it to Jiang Heng, his mouth going non-stop.

"Stop, stop, stop…" Seeing the owner talking like he hadn't spoken in centuries, Jiang Heng quickly interrupted, stating his intention, "I want to buy two knives, show me the best you've got."

"Alright, right away," the owner, seeing that Jiang Heng was so decisive, knew he wasn't the type who liked to haggle, and immediately went back into the back room.

After a while, the owner walked out carrying a long box.

"Sir, I'm not bragging, but this knife is our shop's prized possession. The material is made of…"

He started boasting as he opened the box.

Jiang Heng didn't take it seriously, letting the shopkeeper's words go in one ear and out the other. It was natural for salespeople to exaggerate, and he'd see for himself how good it was.

Soon, the box opened, revealing a sheathed katana inside.

Interestingly, the scabbard and hilt of this knife were white, and the blade was straighter than a normal katana, the curve not very pronounced.

Upon seeing this blade, Jiang Heng immediately thought of Zoro's white blade from the anime One Piece.

As an old anime fan, Jiang Heng was instantly intrigued. Even if the quality wasn't great, he could buy it as a collectible!

"Can I take a look?" Jiang Heng asked.

"Of course, go ahead."

With permission, Jiang Heng took the knife out and grasped the hilt, slowly drawing it out.

Hum~

A faint sound echoed, Jiang Heng couldn't help but nod. It was indeed a good knife, at least much better than the two he used before.

The two knives Jiang Heng used before were taken from the Tiger Claw Gang's thugs, not very good blades, just green-quality at best if you were to compare them to games.

After fully drawing the blade, its full appearance was finally revealed.

Apart from the white hilt and scabbard, there wasn't anything too eye-catching about this knife. But that wasn't the most important thing. A knife doesn't need to be pretty.

Jiang Heng held the blade horizontally in front of him and lightly tapped it with his right hand.

"Hm, not bad indeed, it's a good knife."

Jiang Heng nodded with satisfaction.

Hearing Jiang Heng's words, the owner's face also broke into a smile.

"Boss, do you have any other good stuff like this? I need to buy one more, money isn't a problem," Jiang Heng said to the owner again.

"Well, this knife is the best one in our shop." The owner replied with a smile.

Hearing this, Jiang Heng understood. Good knives were hard to come by. Finding this white blade was already a stroke of luck.

"Then I'll take this one."

Jiang Heng decisively bought the knife, not even haggling. One, he wasn't used to haggling, and two, it wasn't necessary. He had money to spare.

As a shut-in, Jiang Heng had mostly shopped online before, or just gone to the nearby supermarket. He had rarely bargained for anything. Despite his quick tongue, he simply had no talent for haggling.
