Chapter 1
Night City Knows How to Party

Night City, Watson District's Chinatown, Lai Sheng Nightclub.

This was the most frequented haunt for Night City's mercenaries, countless legendary figures had left their marks here.

Of course, no matter how glorious these big shots were in the past, now they're all resting in the graveyard, oh no, some of them don't even have tombstones, like that guy called Silverhand.

In the early morning hours, Night City's exciting life was just beginning, and even more so for mercenaries who walked the edge of the law.

Just then, a young man about twenty-five or six walked through the door. He seemed out of place among the other customers, because he didn't have colorful hair, nor did he wear flashy clothes. He didn't even have any cybernetic modifications.

In a city where everyone is a punk, the man was indeed a little special.

Perhaps that was why, as soon as he walked through the door, the customers around him turned their gazes toward him.

"Hey~ Is this guy here to take another job? I remember he just took a job from Rogue last night!"

"Impossible, he must just be here to drink."

"But this guy is really too efficient, he completed twenty-plus assignments in a month, and I heard his success rate is one hundred percent!"

"Damn, what kind of freak came out of nowhere?"

...

The customers were whispering amongst themselves, but the man didn't look away. He only paused for a moment as he passed the dancing women.

"It really is Night City, it knows how to party!"

The man looked at the woman dancing in the water-filled glass cylinder and couldn't help but sigh inwardly.

But he didn't linger long, he only glanced at it, then walked towards a VIP booth. At that moment, a woman with slightly gray hair, wearing yellow carapace, looked somewhat older, but still had a proud and graceful figure, was sitting in the booth.

This woman was none other than the famous Lai Sheng Queen, Rogue.

Speaking of Rogue, she was definitely one of the top players in the mercenary circle. There was probably no one in Night City more capable and resourceful than her, after all, this woman was at least eighty years old.

Seeing the young man approaching, Rogue immediately frowned. This suddenly appeared young man was actually quite likable to her, because he was decisive in his actions, never dragged his feet, and was highly efficient.

But at the same time, his unconventional approach gave Rogue a headache.

"Grandma Rogue, the assignment's done, the Tiger Claw Gang that was hanging around Yiqing Bar has been dealt with."

The man came to the booth area and unceremoniously sat down, then said.

And the moment he spoke, everyone around him was nearly knocked off the sofa.

Even though everyone here knew that Rogue was quite old, there was no one who dared to call her Grandma Rogue.

Rogue's forehead instantly contorted into a big "井" character when she heard this, she really wanted to rip that stinky mouth off this guy!

But considering that many people were watching, Rogue couldn't lose her composure, after all, she had to maintain the Lai Sheng Queen's dignity.

After taking a few deep breaths and calming her anger, Rogue turned to look at the man, and said in a deep voice, "The assignment is indeed complete, but I'm not satisfied. What I mean is that I told you to communicate with the other party, if you could solve it peacefully without killing anyone, that would be the best, after all, I have some connection with Song Gezi."

Hearing this, the man was full of disbelief, "I did exactly as you instructed, didn't I? No one survives, right?"

Rogue: (╬◣д◢)

However, before she could speak, the man spoke again, "Okay, Grandma Rogue, stop pretending, we're both old, it's tiring to act like this. You know what I mean, right? You know my style, I never do jobs that don't kill. You told me to hook up with the Tiger Claw Gang, that's just to kill, right? Now the assignment is done, the twenty-three members of the Tiger Claw Gang who took over Yiqing Bar have all been dealt with, pay up!"

...

Hearing this, Rogue was speechless, because the man was right, what she really meant was to kill.

But she still had to do some surface work, after all, she had some connection with Song Gezi. They were both the most senior middlemen in Night City, one was the Lai Sheng Queen, the other was the Tiger Claw Gang's high-ranking official, tearing each other's faces off would be bad for everyone.

Even in this Night City, it wasn't all about fighting and killing, there was also human interaction.

As for Song Gezi asking for an explanation later, Rogue could just come up with some excuses, like saying that the one who did it was a newbie, who didn't understand what she meant, etc.

After all, Jiang Heng was indeed a newbie!

Rogue was speechless, so she chose to change the topic, saying, "I'll transfer your money to you later, but come on, what year is it? You're still using a brick phone as your communication tool?"

"What's wrong with a phone? It's better than having a computer installed in your brain and then being hacked, treated like a brothel, and having someone set you on fire when they leave, right?"

...

Rogue was speechless again, she completely didn't want to talk to this young man anymore, this guy was even more annoying than Johnny Silverhand!

"Alright, anything else? If not, then scram."

Rogue directly gave the man the boot.

"Of course I do, do you have any more assignments? The more money, the better."

Rogue: "None at the moment."

"Then forget it, I'll have a drink then leave, put it on my tab, okay?"

"Okay, okay, get out of here!"

The man gave Rogue an okay sign, then left the booth area and went to the bar, saying to the female bartender with a long wine-red hair, "Claire, a Johnny Silverhand."

"Okay, coming right up."

Claire was obviously familiar with the man, and directly started mixing the drink.

An old-fashioned tequila, with some chili and beer, this retarded formula, probably only that crazy guy called Johnny Silverhand could come up with it in Night City.

"Your drink."

Soon, the drink was ready.

The man took a sip, a pained expression instantly appeared on his face, "Damn, what was that idiot thinking, how could he come up with something so disgusting."

"Haha, why don't you leave a formula too? What if you also become a legend?" Claire said with a smile.

"Forget that, I'm not interested in becoming a legend. And I don't want to go to the graveyard."

The man shook his head. Leaving a drink formula named after him in Lai Sheng was like setting a flag, Jiang Heng, as a veteran of the second dimension, would never do such a thing.
