Chapter 16
The Electrical Age

Michael Faraday,

the discoverer of electromagnetic induction and the proposer of electromagnetic laws.

He is referred to by humanity as the Father of Electricity and the Father of Alternating Current.

The creator of the first generator, and the greatest experimental physicist of the nineteenth century.

The law of electromagnetic induction is the electromotive force caused by the relative motion of circuits and magnetic fields, which is the main theory behind the invention of generators.

This theory caused a tremendous stir in the imperial physics community once it was published.

Not long after, an even greater mathematical physics formula was born.

The Maxwell Equations.

A set of partial differential equations that describe the relationship between electric fields, magnetic fields, charge density, and current density.

It consists of four equations.

Gauss's law, which describes how charges produce electric fields; Gauss's law for magnetism, which states that magnetic monopoles do not exist; the Maxwell-Ampère law, which describes how currents and time-varying electric fields generate magnetic fields; and Faraday's law of induction, which describes how time-varying magnetic fields generate electric fields.

From the Maxwell Equations, it can be inferred that electromagnetic waves propagate in a vacuum at the speed of light, leading to the hypothesis that light is an electromagnetic wave.

The Maxwell Equations and the Lorentz force equation are the foundational equations of classical electromagnetism. From the theories related to these foundational equations, modern electrical and electronic technologies have developed.

In this life, due to Taihao's intervention, the electromagnetic laws remain the same, but the Maxwell Equations have taken on a brand new name:

the Electromagnetic Equations.

A professor from the Imperial University of Science and Technology named Bai Qian replaced Faraday's achievements.

The Maxwell Equations became the product of the Academy of Sciences of the Empire, a brilliant idea from Dantai Wujing.

Behind this, Taihao used civilization points to let the civilization upgrade system boost the two of them.

Isn't that the purpose of the civilization enhancement system!

Deeply hidden in 功与名, Taihao also formally summoned the two, granting Bai Qian the title of academician of the Academy of Sciences of the Empire.

Suddenly becoming an academician of the Academy of Sciences, Bai Qian was overwhelmed with excitement.

Under Taihao's relentless transformation over the years, the Star River Empire had become a nation based on technology.

The scientific community had become the most esteemed class in the Empire, holding a higher status and honor than the bureaucratic class.

And being an academician of the Academy of Sciences was the highest achievement for every scholar.

Every academician of the Academy of Sciences was the Empire's most precious asset. After becoming an academician, Taihao would grant them the title of count, along with the real power of a viscount with a fief.

The Empire now implements a six-tier nobility system, which includes: Marquis, Earl, Viscount, Baron, Duke, and King.

To make things easier for himself, in another reform, Taihao applied the noble system from his previous life to the Star River Empire, replacing the previously complex nobility hierarchy.

As long as one enters the Academy of Sciences, they can cross classes and become a noble.

Status, honor, position, reputation, material wealth.

To strengthen the Empire's emphasis on technology, Taihao formulated numerous policies to promote technological development.

The Academy of Sciences of the Empire also became the most coveted sacred place.

Bai Qian suddenly became a figure of the Empire.

As for Dantai Wujing, due to his outstanding contributions to technology, he was promoted from viscount to earl, elevating his rank by one level.

"Wujing, well done! Your sister will be very happy when she hears this. She said you are the smartest child in the Dantai family. Later, go see your sister; Yue'er is eager to meet you, the great mathematician and scientist."

In the White Chalk Palace, Taihao looked at the young man below the imperial platform with a smile, feeling very satisfied.

Dantai Wujing, the youngest legitimate son of the Dantai family, is one of Taihao's companions and also Taihao's brother-in-law. He is only twenty-six years old this year.

With a remarkable talent for physics and mathematics, he became an academician of the Academy of Sciences three years ago, belonging to the genius among geniuses, one of the smartest and most elite individuals in the Empire.

"Your Majesty, you flatter me. But, can I go see my sister?"

Seeing Dantai Wujing's eager yet anxious expression, Taihao felt a bit speechless.

"What do you mean, can you? Of course, you can! She's your own sister; you're not an outsider."

Taihao waved his hand, clearly displeased with his brother-in-law's hesitant demeanor.

Dantai Wujing secretly rolled his eyes.

It wasn't like this before!

Dantai Wujing recalled what happened when he was ten years old.

At the age of ten, after falling down, he couldn't help but act cute and seek comfort from his gentle sister. Instead, he was sternly reprimanded by the person in front of him, told that he was as big as a cow, and why he was acting like a little girl. He was then explicitly ordered not to disturb his sister.

What does it mean to be as big as a cow? Can’t he speak properly!

At first, Dantai Wujing didn't understand why his usually kind brother-in-law suddenly showed such a nasty face.

It wasn't until later that Dantai Wujing realized that it was that damn possessiveness of men!

Dantai Wujing still remembers how his sister looked, both helpless and happy at that time.

Ugh~ those dog men and women!

But being able to see his sister is still worth being happy about. When they were young, he and his sister had the best relationship.

Just as Dantai Wujing was about to leave the palace gate, Taihao called out to him, "Why are you leaving so fast? I’m going to the Phoenix Palace too."

Dantai Wujing turned around, giving Taihao a look of exasperation. Taihao felt puzzled; what kind of look is that from this silly boy? Looking for a beating, huh?

Taihao walked behind his brother-in-law and kicked him in the butt.

What are you dawdling for? Hurry up and follow me.

Dantai Wujing patted his backside, looking speechlessly at Taihao, who had already passed him, and hurriedly followed, muttering under his breath, "Still so petty."

As time passed, the Empire's scientists and inventors, relying on the two foundational laws and equations, began to push the Empire into the electrical age.

With Taihao secretly boosting them from behind, the application of electromagnetism saw a leap in development.

The first breakthrough was in battery technology.

A scientist, seemingly inspired, invented the voltaic pile and then quickly followed it up with the invention of the lead-acid battery.

A new era had begun.

Following that, Dantai Wujing invented unlimited radio communication technology based on his electromagnetic equations, achieving ultra-long-distance communication.

The emergence of radio communication technology was extremely important, as it connected the five continents for the first time, holding significant commercial and strategic value. It was a groundbreaking invention.

Due to his immense contributions, Dantai Wujing suddenly became a duke of the Empire.

Under Taihao's promotion, a technological explosion occurred in the Star River Empire!

Alternating current technology, battery technology, electric motor technology, internal combustion engine technology, power stations, diodes, electric lights, telegraphs, phonographs, movies, typewriters, airplanes, automobiles...

One great invention after another was born, and outstanding scientists emerged.

Under Taihao's boost,

the Star River Empire was entering the electrical age.
