Chapter 33
Hori Did I Use the Wrong Words? (Crying Face) (3/5)

“Do you have any plans for today?” Jiang He asked Ju Jian Hui.

He had only casually asked about the Lightning Man earlier, and now that TPC had taken care of things, he naturally didn't need to worry about it anymore.

He turned to ask Ju Jian Hui if she had anything she wanted to do.

He just hoped this woman wouldn't suggest something like fencing or target practice.

“How about we visit my mother first, and then go to the claw machine?” Ju Jian Hui suggested, a little embarrassed, as she tucked a strand of hair behind her ear.

She rarely took time off, and when she did, she usually went to an old-fashioned bar or spent time with her mother.

Now that she had a day off, and having just been to an old-fashioned bar last night, plus it being daytime, she couldn't think of anything to do.

“Claw machine?” Jiang He was completely dumbfounded.

He could understand visiting the special cemetery of the Victory Team to see his deceased mother-in-law, but what in the world was a claw machine…

This seemed to be a bit out of character for his strong, independent wife!

However, there was a certain kind of reverse charm to it.

“Let’s do that then.” Seeing Ju Jian Hui blushing and looking away, Jiang He smiled slightly and nodded in agreement.

.......

TPC Victory Team base.

“It’s so boring just sitting around the base doing nothing. I wonder what the captain is doing right now.” Rina rested her chin on her hand, looking out the window and sighing.

“I think she must be on a date with Daoist Jiang He,” Hori said with a look of realization.

Even Yaori showed the same gossip-hungry expression, tinged with a bit of envy from a single dog.

Zong Fang immediately covered his teeth; the lemon juice he'd been drinking lately seemed to be getting a little sour.

“Daoist Jiang He?” Hearing Hori’s words, Rina immediately questioned him with a suspicious look, instantly becoming vigilant.

How could the captain possibly be on a date with that bad-tempered Daoist Jiang He?

Both Shinjo and Daigo, who were still in the dark, also looked at Hori in confusion. What was going on?

“Well, you see, from what I understand, based on the captain’s usual style, even though she’s able to take a temporary break now, she would definitely still want to deal with as much work as possible.”

Hori reacted quickly, hurriedly making up excuses as an explanation.

The fact that Daoist Jiang He was actually the captain’s husband was a secret that Daigo and Shinjo knew, but it was absolutely forbidden for the rest of the team, especially Rina, to find out.

Otherwise, the “Anata” incident that happened at the old-fashioned bar not long ago would be immediately exposed!

Just thinking about the fact that he was in the captain’s presence and excitedly called her husband “Anata” - even Hori, who wasn’t directly involved, couldn’t help but shiver with embarrassment, wanting to bash his head against the wall and disappear.

Not to mention what Rina, as the person directly involved, would do if she found out.

Seeing Rina looking at him with some suspicion, Hori quickly made up another lie in a moment of desperation.

“See, the information about the Lightning Man and the monster Gazoth that Daoist Jiang He sent over yesterday is the best proof. It must be the captain who actively consulted with Daoist Jiang He.”

“So I’m guessing the captain might go to see Daoist Jiang He again today to ask about the follow-up.” Hori tried to keep his expression sincere.

Zong Fang and Yaori had also reacted instantly, and chimed in to help.

“You idiot, how can you use the word ‘date’ to describe this situation? You should say it’s ‘consultation’.” Zong Fang patted Hori’s head, with a tinge of personal vengeance in his actions.

This kid, he actually dared to mention that lemon-flavored dog food, didn’t he know that he, a single dog, was already so stuffed from eating it?

“You’re right, my word choice was inappropriate.” Hori was heartbroken as he rubbed his head and admitted his mistake.

It was all true, but he still had to admit he was wrong; he was really taking too much punishment.

It all started when he accidentally saw Daoist Jiang He’s personal information that day.

If he could, he really hoped that Daigo or Shinjo, instead of him, had gone to check the information with Yaori.

“If that’s the case, then it’s quite possible,” Rina nodded, her tone a bit hesitant, as she said to herself.

Clearly, she had been convinced by this excuse.

Shinjo and Daigo glanced at each other, although they still had some doubts, they felt something was off.

But considering that even Commander Zong Fang, who was usually so serious, had said so, then perhaps Hori had just said something wrong?

“No, I need to go with the captain!” Rina stood up and said seriously.

She remembered what happened at the old-fashioned bar not long ago, how that bad-tempered Daoist Jiang He had made the captain call him “Anata” as a condition for telling her about the monster.

Now, she knew that the captain was probably alone with that Daoist Jiang He.

Rina suddenly felt a little worried, that Daoist Jiang He, whose nature wasn’t really bad but whose personality was quite terrible, might do something disrespectful to the captain.

Halloween was only two days away, and she decided to apply to switch her duty schedule and go out for a trip today since she had nothing to do.

“What?!” Upon hearing Rina’s words, all three of them, Zong Fang and Hori, widened their eyes, looking as if they wanted to say something but couldn’t.

Wouldn’t that make her a third wheel?

Sure enough, after one lie, you need countless more lies to cover it up.

All three felt a little headache, thinking about how to stop her.

“Beep beep beep.”

At this moment, a message suddenly came in to the computer in the headquarters command room.

“This is Nanase from the space station. Please report to Director Zewei immediately. A spaceship was detected in the vicinity of several dozen light-years, and the specific details are still unknown. It will be near the space station in a day’s time.”
