Chapter 16
Kaede Kato, My Classmate

“Then I’m going, big brother. You have to take care of yourself.”

“Mm, don’t worry.”

“Don’t eat those discounted vegetables anymore. Pay attention to your diet.”

“Okay, I got it.”

“Don’t talk to those random girls. I don’t want my brother to be tricked by them.”

“???”

Harukaze Tetsu was completely baffled. What kind of logic was that? Did he look like a fool?

The kind of fool who can't resist women.

“Quick, promise me!” When she didn’t get an answer from her brother, Kyou got anxious, and wrapped her arms around Tetsu’s arm.

“Okay, okay. I promise. Happy?”

“Hee hee, then see you in summer, big brother.” Satisfied with the confirmation, Kyou waved to her brother and then walked into the train carriage.

Harukaze Tetsu watched the train leave until it was out of sight, then turned and walked towards the Funozaka Private Academy.

But because he was too far away, and the train doors blocked his view, he didn’t see the sadness and melancholy in his sister’s eyes.

“Stupid brother, you have to take care of yourself.”

“And, big brother belongs to Kyou. Don't bring back a random sister-in-law when I come back next time.”

“Harukaze-kun, good morning.”

As soon as Harukaze Tetsu stepped into the school gates, he heard a beautiful voice.

He didn’t need to look to know it was Kato Megumi.

“Kato-san, good morning.” The boy smiled and waved, then joked, “You’re always so stealthy, Kato-san. If you were an assassin, I would have been killed without a doubt, right?”

“Maybe, but do you have any value worth killing for, Harukaze-kun?” Kato Megumi didn’t hesitate to retort, striking back with a counterattack.

“Well, I don’t, actually.” Even though the answer was a bit harsh, Harukaze Tetsu still knew his place.

What was there about a broke guy like him that was worth someone's attention?

Seeing the boy’s deflated look, Kato Megumi covered her mouth and giggled.

“It would be nice to be in the same class this year.” After her laughter, a trace of longing appeared in Kato Megumi's eyes. It was rare to have a friend to talk to. If they were assigned to different classes, she might spend the entire second year in boredom.

“Yeah, I’d really like to be in the same class as Kato-san too. But the odds are only one in seven, so it’s better not to get our hopes up.”

“You never know. My luck is pretty good when it comes to this kind of thing.” Kato Megumi blinked, looking enigmatic.

“You actually predicted it…” Harukaze Tetsu felt that Kato Megumi should just set up a stall outside the hospital.

She could just put up two flags next to the stall, one saying “Divine Oracle” and the other saying “Reverse Yin and Yang.” Business would be booming.

The class assignment list was posted on the school bulletin board. On the 2-B class list, there were the names of Harukaze Tetsu and Kato Megumi.

“I told you, my luck is pretty good when it comes to this kind of thing.” Kato Megumi’s expression remained indifferent, but the slight upward curve of her lips revealed that she was in a good mood.

And for some reason, she seemed to emphasize these words.

Of course, it could be his imagination. After all, Kato Megumi’s tone… well, how do you put it… it’s hard to tell what she’s emphasizing.

Japan’s spring break only lasts for about two weeks, but for the empty campus, it’s like two centuries.

Dust covers the classrooms, untouched, and nobody comes to school, except for club members who need to train during the break.

So on the first day of school, after finding their classroom, all the students started the most important task of the day.

Spring cleaning!

The two students who had arrived at the 2-B classroom were naturally no exception to this collective activity, and were assigned the tasks of moving supplies and wiping the windows.

I don't know what the Japanese teachers were thinking, but even though the girls' school uniforms were sailor suits and short skirts, they still insisted on making the girls wipe the windows.

As a result, embarrassing scenes were common when the girls stood on the desks, wiping the windows.

Some boys blushed and looked away, while some kids stared at their crushes, worried that they’d be snatched away.

Of course, most of the girls were hesitant and unwilling to do the tasks assigned by their teachers.

Luckily, Kato Megumi was in charge of the windows on the second floor hallway, the kind that didn’t require standing on a stool to reach.

What a strange country.

Harukaze Tetsu sighed and walked towards his destination.

Just like in the schools of his previous life in China, the first day of school, besides spring cleaning, collecting textbooks was also an important part. This time, Harukaze Tetsu was assigned the task of collecting textbooks for the entire 2-B class.

Of course, he couldn’t carry all those books alone, so the teacher gave him a small cart.

The cart rattled and clattered over the uneven floor, but Harukaze Tetsu wasn’t worried about disturbing anyone.

Because carts like these were everywhere in the school.

Seven classes in a year, three years in total, they were all collecting textbooks today, so there was no question of who was disturbing whom.

But as he made his way to the library, he encountered a minor incident.

Izumi-Spencer-Erinri was in a corner, talking to a boy with glasses.

If you only looked at their expressions, the "Shocking Department" would probably have to work overtime.

Shocking! A beautiful girl is being… at school!

Passing by them, Harukaze Tetsu could still faintly hear their conversation.

It wasn't that he was deliberately eavesdropping. This was the only path from the teaching building to the library, and I don't know how those two managed to pick this spot.

But then again, it was shocking to find out that the school’s famous beauty was actually friends with such a “famous” person.

“Renn-ya, give up. I won’t do it.”

“But who else can draw such beautiful artwork, except for Erinri?”

“You can ask someone else, but I won’t help you, no matter what.”

“Please, Erinri. Just do me this favor, I’ll do anything you want!” While saying these words, the bespectacled boy knelt down and used his ultimate weapon.

“Get up! What if someone sees you? They’ll think I'm bullying you because of my family’s influence!” Erinri was almost going crazy seeing her childhood friend act like this.

This was a busy place. If this got around, the rumor that she was bullying her classmates because of her family’s influence would spread like wildfire, and all the hard work she put in to create her image at school would be ruined.

Thinking about this, Erinri quickly looked around, worried that someone might be passing by.

But it was because of this action that she saw a familiar figure.

She had been staring at this figure all afternoon that day.

There was no way she could be wrong!
