Chapter 32
The Invitation to a Date

“Shijou!”

Suzuki Sonoko walked towards Shijou Kaguya, her booming voice instantly drowning out all other sounds.

“What are you doing here at Teitan, all of a sudden?”

“I simply transferred schools. Or is Teitan under Suzuki territory, prohibiting me from enrolling here?”

“Cut it out, I never said anything like that.”

The Suzuki family's business does involve education, but Teitan High is different from Shuchiin.

The Suzuki family's education industry is not located here.

Besides, Suzuki Sonoko wouldn’t stay in her family’s education industry.

If she were to study within her family's business, wouldn't that mean she’d be under her parents' watchful eyes all the time?

She wouldn't do something so foolish.

Why would she willingly subject herself to her parents' constant scrutiny when she could be enjoying her carefree days?

“Didn't you say you were doing fine at Shuchiin before?”

“Why would you leave your own territory and come to another school?”

“Just wanted some fresh air.”

“Hmm? I feel like there’s something fishy about your behavior.”

“Showing up at Dorobiga Garden on the weekend is one thing, having connections with the Sanzenin family, and now you've gotten that position and you’re jumping to another school.”

It was Suzuki Sonoko’s instinctive feeling.

Shijou Kaguya’s actions seemed strange to her; it felt like she was secretly plotting something.

“So, you came here to deliberately ask me?”

“Yeah, I just have a feeling you're going to bring a whole bunch of trouble.”

“Knowing you, you wouldn’t jump into unfamiliar situations unless someone pushed you.”

“So, someone must be pushing you, right?”

“This woman… she’s really sharp.”

Though it wasn’t explicitly stated who was behind this, Shijou Kaguya understood what Suzuki Sonoko meant.

“So, what are you trying to say, Miss Suzuki?”

“Humph~”

Suzuki Sonoko let out a cold laugh as she looked at the big ice block pretending to be clueless.

“Just as I thought, how could you, a big ice block, willingly jump out of your comfort zone?”

“Go ahead and pretend, I'll eventually figure out your motives.”

“And the reason you're teaming up with that arrogant brat.”

After saying that, she turned around and left the classroom.

Her probing question was pretty obvious.

Suzuki Sonoko knew that this big ice block had her own reasons for transferring.

As for those reasons, they were probably directly related to the big ice block and that arrogant brat teaming up.

The big ice block was definitely being pushed around by that arrogant brat this time.

But she just couldn’t understand what kind of entanglement would make the arrogant brat push the big ice block over here.

“She has motives!”

“That big ice block definitely has her own goals!”

As she walked out of the classroom, she saw the boy she’d bumped into earlier at the entrance.

The gentle breeze from outside gently blew his hair, revealing a clean and mature face behind his bangs and thick glasses.

“Yummy!!!”

As a hardcore fan of looks, Suzuki Sonoko had her own standards for judging a person's appearance.

Kudo Shinichi was generally considered a nine out of ten, but she deducted one point for his love of deduction.

The boy she just met had a surface-level score of six, but his hidden score was incredibly high, at least a three-point bonus.

“I never realized there were boys with such high hidden scores in this school.”

“Silent and reserved.”

“Why is it that quiet boys have such high hidden scores?”

She didn't really know why.

But this boy with the hidden score and that big ice block, she was definitely going to keep a close eye on this class from now on.

If it weren’t for the wrong timing, she really wanted to take this boy out for a walk and get to know each other better.

She put the thought aside for now.

She straightened herself out and walked over to him.

“Amamiya, are you free this weekend?”

“Eh?”

“A date, a date. Do you want to go on a date with me?”

“Date... I usually don't go out, except for work.”

“Do you have work this weekend?”

Amamiya Ren took out his phone to check his schedule, and there were no work arrangements for this weekend.

“No.”

“Then how about you keep me company?”

“... I'm not very good at talking.”

“Yeah, I can tell, but dating is all about getting to know each other. The more we hang out, the more you'll start talking.”

“How about it?”

What was he supposed to say to that?

“If you don't mind being bored.”

Suzuki Sonoko laughed.

“That's settled then. I'll make the plans for this weekend, you just have to come along and have fun with me.”

“Yeah.”

“So, we’ll meet up this weekend. I’ll contact you the day before.”

They made their plans, and Suzuki Sonoko turned to leave.

She couldn’t help but smile as she walked away.

“Oh my, Amamiya, with his super high hidden score, it’s his first date ever.”

“My taste in guys is definitely not bad.”

Amamiya Ren watched Suzuki Sonoko leave, his gaze returning to the window overlooking the hallway.

“Hmm, Suzuki Sonoko probably doesn't have a diary.”

“The next thing I need to confirm is the situation with Mouri Ran.”

He could almost be certain that Suzuki Sonoko didn't have a diary.

But a date, huh.

Looking at the clouds drifting across the sky, he started to feel a headache coming on.

“How do I do this whole date thing?”

“I’ve never experienced it.”

“Oh, not only have I never experienced it, but this is actually the first time a girl has asked me out.”

Amamiya Ren had a clear understanding of who he was.

He was a man of few words, but with a lot going on in his head.

He excelled at internal monologues but struggled with external interaction.

Especially with girls he just met.

In his past sixteen years, he had never had a similar experience.

This was way more daunting than mastering power.

But he had to write in his diary every day, and maybe if he could have more enriching daily experiences, he might get better rewards.

Yeah, tagging along with Suzuki Sonoko might allow him to learn a lot of things, which wasn’t a bad thing.

The only thing to consider is his inherently quiet personality.

“It feels like dating is even more tiring than work.”

“But it’s my first date, so it should just be about going out and having fun, right?”

But was that too simplistic a view?

After all, weekends in Mita City rarely passed without something happening.
