He hadn't expected that Makino was not only the tavern owner but also ran an inn. The original story never mentioned it, nor did it even show a single shot of the inn!

The voice arrived, and a young boy of fourteen or fifteen, wearing a straw hat, ran from around a corner and stood before Makino.

"A traveler?" Luffy's eyes instantly lit up, curiously asking, "Have you been to many places?"
Xia Yu didn't answer immediately, but instead looked at Luffy with interest.
Ever since he had crossed over to that unknown town, he had learned the current timeline of the One Piece world through the system: Year 1517 of the Pirate Era.
This meant that Luffy was only fourteen years old now.
"Mr. Xia Yu, you two chat, I'll go make breakfast for you!" Seeing Luffy genuinely interested in Xia Yu, the traveler, Makino smiled and left.
"You are Luffy?"
As soon as Makino left, Xia Yu asked slowly, "Karp's grandson?"
Luffy widened his eyes. "You know my grandpa?"
"Yeah, just last night!"
Xia Yu smiled slightly, saying, "Because of a misunderstanding, your grandpa got beaten up by my partner."
"Huh?"
Luffy's eyes widened further. "Your partner, beat up my grandpa?"
Before he finished speaking, Luffy suddenly burst into laughter. "Really? That's great! I've always wanted to fight my grandpa, but I'm not strong enough. He always beats me up, leaving my head full of bumps!"
Hearing this, Xia Yu's mouth twitched slightly.
It seemed this guy's brain circuit was pretty much the same as in the original story.
However, it made sense for Luffy to be so carefree.
According to the original story, Luffy was either thrown into the forest to fight wild beasts by Karp or hung on a hydrogen balloon to try to fly higher!
